The service was average which is a bit disappointing for a fine dining restaurant. They took a whileeeee to take our order but were quick to bring it out. Beware that they do not offer anyyyy complementary rice or roti or naan with their entree dishes that you order. The ambiance is elegant and cozy and I would recommend asking to get seated next to the windows and maybe go during sunset time. I was in love with the kebab platter! I would give less than one star if possible. Our Mother's Day lunch was ruined by this restaurant's carelessness. We clearly told them our food had to be vegetarian. Instead, they served us meat instead of cauliflower. This is not a small mistake. This is exactly the kind of carelessness that can seriously harm someone. Today it was meat served to a vegetarian family with religious dietary boundaries. Tomorrow it could be an allergen or something else that someone specifically said they could not eat. When we spoke to the owner, he did not take real responsibility. He said they were busy and that "something got overlooked." That is not acceptable. Food restrictions are not tiny details to overlook. After the appetizers, we did not want to complete our lunch there because we no longer trusted anything coming out of that kitchen. Once a restaurant serves the exact thing you clearly said you cannot eat, trust is gone. The attitude was just as bad as the mistake. No real apology. No accountability. Just excuses, as if we were wrong for being upset. If a restaurant cannot be trusted to serve what was clearly ordered, why should anyone trust what comes out of that kitchen? This restaurant seems to perpetually be one mistake away from a rather wonderful lawsuit. Serving meat or things people don't order and then having the audacity to not apologize at the owner/manager of the restaurant is one thing, but to instead give an excuse that no one who actually knows how to run a business would give...oh we had too many orders....is pretty perplexing, especially when eating what was brought out could have landed someone in the hospital had it not been caught. It just missed major points with me and the overall experience was just okay- I wish it was better though! The menu boasts a South Indian (Hyderabadi) cuisine with veg and non-veg items with apps, mains, specialty drinks, and desserts! We went with the kebab platter that showcases 4 different variations of juicy marinated chicken kebabs that came out so beautifully on hanging skewers on some crunchy cabbage! Even with the variety of flavors, they just didn't pack the punch- and were in my opinion bland. We also ordered the Tikka Journey w some garlic/butter naan! Again the presentation was on par and the curry was drizzled with cream- making wit very appeasing! The chicken pieces to curry ratio were great as well- plentiful for sure! However the flavors are absolutely NOT what you'd expect from a Tikka curry, there was no sweetness rather tasted like a bit too much turmeric with tons of heavy cream- definitely within not my preferred flavor palate. The naan was also not my favorite. It was thin and crunchy- I'd say it was a Papad rather than the fluffy naan one would expect- however the taste was good. I also got a mango lassi- that was rather sour than sweet. I know there are no upscale indian restaurants but do not even try this place. The only good things about it are the ambience (the village is nice and its in the suburbs) and the service (the servers are really nice and fast). The food is extremely over priced especialy if you go with a big group and the portion sizes are so small like its some sort of michelin star restaurant. The only thing I thought was worth it are the paneer chili bites and the chicken kebabs. The chocolate dessert is also great! We headed over to Tantra after seeing all the pop-up stories on Instagram. Firstly, the location is perfect. We loved walking around and taking pictures. The restaurant ambiance was good. One of us had to talk to the manager to get some attention. However rest of the lunch was amazing! Loved the nutty delight chicken and chilli bites paneer and shrimp. Came here for a date night with my husband on a Saturday and had a great experience! Our server was super nice and we appreciated the service experience. I love their cocktail selection (although we need at least one sparkling wine option on there!). We started with an Old Fashioned (which was a bit too sweet) and a Pom Cosmo (which was perfect). For appetizer we got the Shrimp Chili Bites which were so good -- perfectly battered and super tasty. I thought the sauce was going to be too mayonnaise-y but it was actually great! We also got the Emperors Delight which was also very good, but the chicken had a bit too strong of a clove flavor. Then for dinner we got the Butter Chicken, Goat Curry and Fried Rice. The curries were both excellent (although again, a bit too much on the clove flavor in the goat), the meat very tender and flavors great -- loved that the curries had a hint of spiciness but not over the top. To make kofta they have put veg Manchurian balls in Queso cheese to make gravy did not go well with Naan, maybe they should have offered some Tortilla Chips instead of Naan. Funny thing is it was their signature dish. Dal Makani they over-spiced with cinnamon which is hardly present. Drinks very bad. Kebabs were decent but not as good as hyped. They claim to be fine dine and have limited menu so technically all dishes are suppose to be very good but it is opposite. they have found a way to mess up every dish. Fantastic Indian restaurant right next to the beautiful Adriatic village. The establishment is pretty upscale and very authentic. Very comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff. We even met the chef who really cared about how we thought about the food. We got buttered chicken, kebabs and the nutty delight. First of all the presentation of everything is pretty spectacular and picture-worthy. The buttered chicken was creamy and went well with our garlic naan. The nutty delight can be served with chicken or paneer and we got chicken; it was super spicy with the green sauce but much more tolerable without it. Excellent Indian cuisine. Service was okay, they were very busy, but our waitress was super sweet and attentive. A must try cocktail is the tropical berry with a side shot of grand Marnier, yummy. Chicken Heavenly drumsticks were just the right spice and so good. We had the chicken butter curry which was creamy and delightful. Their authentic vegetable rice with chicken. They bring it out in a copper urn which stayed very hot throughout the meal. Dessert, well what a wonderful way to display a chocolate decadent mousse, under a smoking Cloche. This dish was good but was not really out of the world! We also ordered the Deccan Dream and Tikka Journey - loved both these dishes and had them with the garlic naan. Review of Tantra Indian Restaurant - McKinney, TX For my birthday, my wife took me to Tantra, an Indian restaurant in McKinney. Based on its location and upscale-sounding name, we were expecting a high-end dining experience. Unfortunately, what we encountered was far from it. From the moment we entered, it became clear this restaurant lacked attention to detail. The decor and ambiance had potential, but the first thing we noticed was an open closet filled with clutter that looked like it was ready to tumble out. A group of 6-7 staff members at the bar stared at us like we didn't belong, which felt uncomfortable. Our server was pleasant enough but rushed and inattentive. She walked us to our table with little explanation, leaving us confused about where we were supposed to sit. Meanwhile, loud Spanish music and singing cooks filled the air from the kitchen, disrupting the atmosphere. For a Thursday night with only two occupied tables, they had a surprising number of staff--10-15 people--but no sense of organization. The service left much to be desired. Water was served in a Moscow mule cup, with no ice and a straw that wasn't even wrapped--basic hygiene was clearly overlooked. The appetizer plates were slammed on the table by a staff member with long fingernails, which is a clear violation of food service standards. Adding to this, we were handed torn menus, which didn't inspire confidence. The food was even worse. We ordered "Drums of Heaven," expecting drumsticks, but received five small chicken wings for $20. The butter chicken, a staple of Indian cuisine, was incredibly disappointing. It consisted of tough, boiled chicken in a green-tinted sauce that was more spicy than flavorful. Served with a single thin piece of naan for $6 and a small cup of rice, the dish was bland, overly spicy, and seemed poorly prepared. When we voiced our concerns, the server simply said it was "Nawabi Butter Chicken" and shrugged off our complaints, adding there was no manager available to assist us. The experience cost us $61, and we left dissatisfied and frustrated, eventually salvaging the evening by going to a nearby Italian restaurant. As an Indian myself, I couldn't help but feel disheartened. This experience reflects poorly on Indian cuisine and the service industry. Tantra had the potential to showcase the richness and sophistication of Indian food, but instead, it perpetuated stereotypes of poor service and lack of professionalism.
