The virtual IOP option makes the treatment more convenient, but does not lessen the effectiveness. Reed, Krista and their team have been an absolute God send to me and my family. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the ideas and teachings I have learned here have been life changing. Unlike other (e.g. 12 step) approaches to recovery that teach the individual to view themselves as an addict, the curriculum that Reed and team have put together focus on the underlying processes and mechanics that are at the root of all addictions. A surprisingly little amount of time is actually spent talking about addiction directly, because the program is more broad and provides clients with a holistic new way of being in the world. Recovery from addiction is a natural secondary effect from this learning, but clients can expect to see meaningful improvements in nearly every aspect of their lives on their path to a life of greater peace and ease. The curriculum draws from numerous sources and is not dogmatic or limited by orthodoxy. Meditation, mindfulness, and a better understanding of one's true "self" stand out as cornerstones of the approach at Centered. I recommend Centered, without caveat, to anyone struggling with addiction, behavioral challenges, or mental health issues.

My daughter Valentine had been struggling with severe anxiety and depression. She hadn't been to…read moreschool in over two years, was isolated, self-harming, and had survived two suicide attempts. As a parent, it was terrifying and heartbreaking. I knew she needed more support, but I was apprehensive about intensive outpatient programs--many feel clinical and understaffed, and I feared that wouldn't help her. From the first evaluation, Newport stood out. Tiffany, the Program Director, recommended inpatient treatment, but after explaining the trust I had built with my daughter and my concerns about breaking it, she listened. She agreed to let us try outpatient care first--and I'm so grateful she did. It wasn't easy at first. Valentine resisted the program completely--she'd refuse to get out of the car, isolate during group sessions, and even walk out into the parking lot during the day. But her therapist, Meighan, built a connection. That relationship became a lifeline. Slowly, Valentine started opening up in individual sessions, then in groups, and we began to see glimmers of progress at home. What sets Newport apart is the comprehensive care they offer--not just therapy. Valentine had access to equine therapy, yoga, cooking classes, and holistic services like Reiki and mindfulness practices. They treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. By the end of her program, my daughter was no longer scoring as depressed or anxious. She gave a speech to her peers and the staff that still brings me to tears. She became a leader in the community there. And while the road after discharge wasn't perfect--there were setbacks--she had the tools, the confidence, and the resilience to keep going. Today, Valentine is thriving. She's back in school, at the top of her class, surrounded by friends, and fully herself again: creative, funny, sharp-witted, and loving. To any parent who is scared and doesn't know what to do: you are not alone. Newport Academy is a place of healing, hope, and transformation. I will be grateful for them every single day of my life.

I think every employee except one was friendly, knowledgeable, respectful, and good at their job. My therapist was Katy she definitely professional and one of the best therapist I had. I say the second best I had, and I had a lot of different therapist throughout my life. Jesse was good, he would get done everything he said he would and was fair, even though he could be a little annoying, but not in a bad way. Laura is excellent case manager and one the best I have worked with. Very honest, and has a bunch of resources and relatable. The folks that work at the sober living here are excellent. Taimi, David, and Dwight were my favorite. Very friendly, they care, and they do whatever they can to help. The morning lady at the sober living was very mean and aggressive. She is the African American lady w/ hijab everyday. I dont know her name she would never give me her name. She would just play on her phone and if you ask her for help with blood pressure cuff she wouldn't. She told me figure out yourself everyone should know how to work it yourself. She would say things aggressively and would freakout if she had to put things up herself or if you ask for help. All the other therapist were excellent. I like all of them and would enjoy them when they led/facilitate the groups. Even the weekend ones. I dont remember his name, but he had afro and he was my favorite on the weekends. I think everyone here cares and works hard. I had one major issue and they did their best to try to fix it. My issue is not with the workers except that one mean morning lady. The major issue with this place is if you're LGBTQ specifically transgender. It has nothing to do with the workers it is the rules they have to follow about housing. When I was at Mt Sinai they had guest speaker from NABH. I asked the question if you are transgender will you be put with your gender you identify with? They said yes of course long as you're on HRT. This place advertises itself as LGBTQ friendly. So you think they wouldn't have transphobic policy. So me being trans women I had to be in mens sober living. It made me very uncomfortable, especially at first having to share a room with a man. They gave me my own room after 3 days and that made is a lot better and made me happy, but I know to some people and even me it made me feel the rules say I am not a real women and I am not valid. This policy also outs trans people. People, probably wouldn't know I was transgender if this policy wasn't a thing. It endangers trans people, especially with the current state of politics and this world. So the company or policy makers of this place is not LGBTQ friendly because trans is big part of LGBTQ. If you're gay or lesbian you're fine hear. But be cautious if you're trans expecting to be validated by housing. The employees with validate you and respect you and be wonderful, but this place policies and rules wont. I know many trans men and trans women that would be upset with this and not tolerate it and go somewhere else. I tolerated it because I really loved all the employees and got a lot out of treatment here. This place is very educational, but more so processing and it is the best processing I have ever gotten and I needed it. They did their best to accommodate me and I was happy with that, but it still outed me and made me feel like the company policy say I am not a valid women. I know I am and all the employees validated me so I was fine. It was just uncomfortable sharing house still with men and having to share kitchen and den with them. It made me stay in my room a lot more, which made me feel left out and kept me from making friends outside of class. Anyways i give this place 5 stars for the employees, the value, the education, the therapy, the processing, the cleanliness of sober living and facility, and the extras. I take one star off because this place advertised as trans friendly and that one policy isn't trans friendly and is wrong.

So I'm currently a patient at Mount Sinai and I've never been to a rehab as worste as this one…read more First of all I came in hearing all these wonderful things about it. When I get here it's a whole mess they were renovating the lodges and making the woman do so much work and having us run all over the place. Then we finally get settled and the whole structure of the sober living has changed woman on one side the men on the other no Co-Ed groups which is not a big deal till your sitting in the same room with the same people and not having multiple groups to pick from, so I've completely gone into a depressive state to where I do not want to go to meetings or get up out of my bed anymore. And you would think since that's happening someone like your therapist would come and check on you and see what we could do about it. But no... instead I over hear a conversation with Sam (my freaking therapist) and another worker that works here (but she's been great don't want to include her) on speaker phone as I'm waiting to get my discharge papers signed. So I over hear the conversation where she is completely trashing some woman from my process group including myself. Mind you I already have bad trust issues and I don't really talk much because of it. I don't trust people at all because of the situations my addiction has put me in. I have severe PTSD. So these situations has not only brought out trauma it has completely made my time here miserable and my recovery to be put in a stand still. Sam has now accused me of lying and said I've made it up. When I don't even talk to people so why would I just bring this to people's attention if it's not true causing my social anxiety to be crazy. And not to forget to mention that every one on one I've had with Sam has never been helpful all she talks about is what I'm going to do after here, nothing about what's going on in my life or past traumas which we agreed to go through when I first got here. I WILL NOT BE CALLED A LIAR AND HAVE SOMEONE TWO FACED START TO BLAME ME FOR THERE ACTIONS! You're supposed to trust your therapist!! This whole experience has not made me any better. If anything it's made my cravings higher than ever. Maybe if things were like they used to be and how I've heard them to be before my experience would have been a lot better. I went to a rehab called "The Bluff" before this one a-little while back and I had a terrific time there. The staff really cared I was actually talking in groups and diving head first into my recovery. And now seeing the difference i feel like I've wasted my time and money at Mount Sinai. Would never recommend this place to anyone! And that's crazy because I used to work in recovery and send clients of mine here for detox and now I know I would never do that again. It's a very TOXIC environment. But if you chose to go here I wish you the best!

Not enough snacks, milk, or ice. Need another machine for both. Got sick, they dont care if you spread it. Had to hunt a pen down because they have none apparently. Only 1 TV & make detox patients wait until 5pm like the rest to watch it. Wouldn't give me any psyche meds at first until I threatened to leave! 1 week in & meds still not right. Tried to do a transfer & they keep trying to talk me out of it & refuse to cooperate. Tried to put me (a disabled veteran) on the street instead, to walk home, a 3 hour drive! This place is primarily addiction treatment. They sent some punk (director of admissions) to threaten to kick me out for no good reason! Asking me if I am schizophrenic...but they know how to deal with vets, they say. BS!!! Clinical director is full of it. Was told it was dual diagnosis but its not primarily mental health. Which is what I need! You have to walk around looking for staff or wait hours. Most staff are nice & care. Too much bible talk in groups though! HIPPA PRIVACY LAWS BEING VIOLATED HERE! Place is NOT SAFE/needs security! Another corporate one that just wants your money! Which is proven by them taking too many people in while understaffed. & they don't tell ya this but don't leave AMA or you'll be walking home, from all/any of them. Terrible experience overall with care & all.
