This bakery is a delightful gem hidden on Church st near the Dundas intersection. Tangssant Viennoiserie, the name derived from Tang (唐) + Croissant, a fusion of Chinese and French, or East meets West, as their Instagram profile writes. Viennoiserie by definition means baked goods that are neither pastry nor bread, and just in the middle. The cafe is fairly quiet, I like the brick exterior and European minimalistic interior. High table and regular seating are limited, so it's more of a solo or 2 person dine-in visit, and mostly for take-out. At the first bite of their chocolate croissant, I was like whoa this must be as similar what it tastes like in France as can be. Each bite dense and flaky at the same time yet not greasy to the touch nor the palate. I thought the chocolate sticks being in the centre would create too much distinction between the non-chocolate parts, but it was actually quite balanced. I actually eat it from both sides first, and save the best for last - chomping on the chocolate in the middle. They have both sweet and savory selections, I'll share some examples below, and you can match them to the pictures I've uploaded as part of this post. - Roasted Cheese Croissant (i still have a video of my friend's grin widening each time he took a bite haha (see video). As he describes, it's a perfect balance between sweet and salty, and the cheese wasn't overbearing) - Pain au Swisse (custard filling with dark chocolate crisp pearls) Actually I found this item misleading because I expected crunchy bits of dark chocolate, and instead it was just gooey from the custard with hints of chocolate. The only crunch I felt was from the thin strands of the outer crust which had the texture of eggshells which was kinda unpleasant. I later learned that the chocolate pearls are only crispy prior to baking. - Vanilla Flan (this one looks like an egg tart which threw me off initially because I prefer to have sweets that are chocolate with dense, chewier textures. I brought it for my mom though, and her sweet tooth found it extremely satisfying. 'Creamy, dense, decadent' were her description when asked for this review. NOTE: I would not recommend getting the coffee here if you're not used to strong robusta beans that give you that tingling sensation in your mouth, almost drying, usually the reaction to caffeine intensity or high acidity. Also, if you wanted a decadent latte, steer clear from the Tiramisu Latte. It has a salted sour cream foam topping which removes the sweetness that you'd expect, and iced is only a bit better than hot. For an iced Tiramisu Latte, I recommend going to Reply at Bay/Edward St. Basically, if you need a pick-me-upper to shock start your morning/afternoon, get the iced Dutch coffee (slow-dripped cold-brew). If you wanted a smooth and balanced latte, check out Mast Coffee around the corner on Shuter St. Overall, Tangssant has become my team's once a week treat during our adjustment to RTO, something buttery and decadent to look forward to during the harsh winter commutes. BTW, if you buy 6 or more, it's tax-free!

This is a bakery/cafe on Church Street near Dundas. They serve a variety of pastries and drinks. I've been here several times and the experience is generally enjoyable. The pastries are a bit on the more expensive side, but the drinks are in line with other cafes. Generally good pastries and good drinks. There is limited seating inside with space for around 10 people. The times I went, there was only 1 server working, so the wait can be a bit long as well.

Tangssant Viennoiserie located along Church St. near Shuter St. is a new French bakery that is Chinese owned. All their croissants are made in house and they offer coffee and other beverages as well. The space is not accessible as there is a small flight of stairs you need to go up to reach the entrance. Inside the bakery, there is some seating available either by the window or to the side. I decided to stop by Tangssant Viennoiserie as they had been on my radar since they opened. I stopped by on a Wed morning around 10am. Upon entering the bakery, I approached the display of baked goods and croissants which were all lined up neatly. There were so many flavours and staff mentioned a few favourites (for sweet, go for the Kouign-Amann or the blueberry danish. For savory you can't go wrong with the bacon egg danish. I decided to grab a kouign-amann (which has a nice lemon caramel layer). Staff did mention that this pastry was one of their less sweeter options. I also opted to grab a cortado as well. My coffee was made at a reasonable time and staff were nice enough to bring it to my seat. The cortado was made well. The kouign-amann was great as well - nice and flakey. The lemon caramel layer added another dimension to the pastry. Service wise, staff were friendly and efficient. The bakery space feels warm and inviting and the display of beautiful pastries definitely makes it hard for you to decide what to get! Overall, a lovely new bakery close to the Eaton's Centre and Yonge/Dundas Square. Would definitely return back to try their other pastries in the future (that vanilla flan, coconut rice cruffin, as well as sauerkraut & spam croissant sound so interesting!).

This is a new cafe which soft-opened on 2025-09-05. They call themselves a viennoiserie, which  is the name given by professional chefs to describe yeast-leavened dough products that are at a meeting point between bread and pastry. We ordered the following: 1. Iced Latte ($5.75). 2. Coconut Rice Pudding Croffin ($7.49). Coconut cream and sticky rice. The customer service was good. The Iced Latte was average. The Coconut Rice Pudding Croffinwas amazingly good. The croissant-muffin was crispy and light on the surface and soft inside. The cream was delicious. There is a lot of standing space inside and there is counter seating. There is soft instrumental music playing in the background. The make their baked goods every morning starting at 03:00!! There is free WiFi (WiFi 7!). The cafe is not wheelchair accessible (but it is possible to good through their back entrance with a key from the condo building). There is one gender-neutral washroom and it is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-207

i almost tried one of everything from their pastries and it does not disappoint! from the croissants, danish, to flans, they do have some unique options which may only cater to specific tastebuds. I've enjoyed all sweet and savoury ones so far. Their service is quick with making the drinks, and their location only has a few seating spots. every time I have been, it's been busy but super lively.

Tangssant Viennoiserie is a cute spot and I stopped by near the end of the day when only the plain croissant and chocolate Danish were left. The croissant was really nice with lots of layers and a good crisp. The flavour leans more toward an Asian palate, not as heavy or buttery as traditional French bakeries, which I enjoyed. Since it was their soft opening, the interior still felt a bit empty, but the service was very friendly and the space has a charming design. The plates and cups they use for dine-in are surprisingly high end and European, which adds a nice touch to the experience.

AMAAAAZING. love this spot. Close your eyes and you're in one of the best cafes in Paris. They're so busy right on a snow Sunday morning with a steady stream of customers. Simple minimalistic aesthetic interior. Bench tables along the window. Open concept kitchen so you can see where all the magic happens. Everything is made onsite with the best ingredients. This is a must visit spot.

Super flaky croissant/ pastries. I tried the almond croissant and it was super crispy. Almond croissant was good but I wish the almond flavour was even stronger. Croissant was $7.33 after tax which is a bit more on the pricey side, but I like how they make everything fresh daily. There are also a few seats inside the store and drink options as well. Staff were friendly and they had a wide variety of different pastries to choose from.

I love ginger beverages- it wasn't overpowering here, I mostly tasted the kiwi and sparkling lemonade. It was busy in there but we still got our orders and drinks quickly, I appreciate how fast the service was. My friend got one of their banana bread drinks - if you like the taste of hojicha, this was particularly strong which I personally enjoyed! Love how the store also has sections where it is like a little market selling local goods and always fun to see the dogs that are sitting outside. The prices are a little expensive (my refresher before tax was $7.5) but typical for what you'd pay in Toronto for a fun drink, from what I've seen.

I'd absolutely come here to get some work done if I was able to get a seat. One thing I really love is that they sell handmade goods from local artists and host craft nights, it feels very community driven and adds such a fun, unique touch to the café. Drinks I tried: Maple Goguma Latte - Slightly nutty, lightly sweet, and super comforting. I added a shot of espresso, which made it perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Dalgona Latte - A really fun drink with great texture. Just make sure to stir it well since the sweetness settles at the bottom. They're known for their creative, seasonal drink menu, and I'm already excited to come back to try what they release next season. Definitely a must-visit if you love cozy cafés, unique drinks, and supporting local artists.

But $12 for a small drink that's mostly ice is a tough sell. Two drinks and a breakfast sandwich came to $36, which stung a little more when we sat down for a full lunch for two people right after for a similar amount. To put it in perspective: a venti matcha latte with milk alternatives at Starbucks run under $8. When did Starbucks become the budget option? The cafe itself is cute and the staff were genuinely friendly, which counts for something. But there weren't any proper tables to actually sit and enjoy your drinks, which felt like a bit of an oversight for a cafe experience. The drinks were fine. Mine had a sparkling milk in it, which was a fun and unique touch. But in terms of taste, nothing really wowed me or made me want to order it again. The breakfast sandwich was a letdown too. Honestly, a McMuffin would've been more satisfying. Cute spot with good energy, but the value just isn't there. Hard to justify coming back when so many other cafes in the city deliver more for less.

Some reviewers complained about the loudness, but, compared to many other downtown locations, Landwers was a medium level of noise, and we were able to converse. It was not excessively busy, but if you are set on eating here, then make a reservation. I finally tried the Sinia Kebab, and it was tremendously good! It was also huge, and I had to take half of it home with me. The focaccia bread is excellent, and serves as a sort of bowl for this deconstructed kebab. My husband had his usual Cobb Salad, which he thinks is particularly well done at Landwer's. Our other dining companion had schnitzel, which came with some angel hair pasta. He enjoyed it very much. Service is, as I said above, "relaxed". If you are planning to see a concert or show afterwards, then plan ample time to allow the relaxed service to unfold (a.k.a this is not fast food!!) We had a 6:00 reservation, and we were able to make our 7:30 concert time with about 10 minutes to spare. The University location is conveniently located near Thompson Hall, the subway, and Union Station (Via Rail and Go).
