I know some of you are uneducated about the quality of a meatball sandwich & that's ok, I'm not judging so do not be offended. To begin... This is a neighborhood place just like back east , nestled in a neighborhood on the corner hidden from the strip mall garbage. When you come here, and you better, do not be distracted by the path to tasty food. It is in an older neighborhood with minimal parking but fantastic personalities, service & FOOD! Upon entry it's a time warp for us who grew up in a time that was better. This is a good Olde Fashion deli that sells great food with amazing service. Franks is a family place. Back to the real topic... Meatball Sandwich; when you ask what is the cheese that use & the owner is educated on quality be states "Provolone on the bottom, Mozzarella on top" just know you're in the right place! The flavor is top notch, added some cherry peppers to spice it up just right, bell peppers & onions are standard. Took it to go, drove about 20 minutes to where I needed to be, the aroma was teasing me, the concern of the sandwich being cold or soggy rang in my mind while driving the 17 to the 10.. I was nervous, anxious & salivating.... Opening the togo container to see the glorious sandwich! The meatballs are still hot, the sauce is holding place & the bread is still bread, not some soggy remnant of dough! Thank you for the pride, quality & tasty sandwich.

From the deli selections and warm dishes to your overall experience. They want you to enjoy every last bite and interaction. My first experience with DeFalco's wasn't what I expected and I think it was because of the pesto sandwich that was overhyped online. However I shouldn't have been so quick to judge them off that one dish! The management team reached out right away and asked that I give them another go! And so I did!! We ordered two pizzas (Margherita and sausage) as well as their chicken pasta! Instantly obsessed and one of the best pizza I've had in Phoenix!! Thank you so much to the team at DeFalco's for caring for your customers and pouring love into the food and community!!

HOWEVER, after walking in on a fairly-busy Saturday, DeFalco's was not welcoming, no one greeted us, it was confusing, no clear line or organization to queue people to order/pick-up/ask questions/etc. it smelled of nothing, not food. the Denny's-like kitchen was in the back. the only thing front-facing was a few cold salads beyond the mass of people looking at menus and in general not knowing where to order or go. so it was tough to even get a looksy at that junk. i went to use the restroom before we ordered, as one does...there was a gentleman already using the one urinal, so i hopped into the stall to peepee, but unfortuntately the toilet had lots of poop stains all over the bowl. this is gross. i do not want to eat here and think about your poopy bathroom. not welcoming, not organized, too much visible poop. no, thank you. bye.

My brother saw their Facebook page and thought we should have lunch at their deli in Phoenix. We brought our friend along and made it a threesome. My friend had the George's Special (Ham, Capicolla, Salami, Mortadella, Pepperoni, Provolone, and Hot Peppers or Sweet Peppers). The consensus was unanimous. The bread is great. The meat was too! To finish off our meal we all had a Cannoli. Magnifico. The crunchy shell was dusted with powdered sugar and the filling was sweet and creamy. There is an array of Sandwiches, entrees, soups , and specials. Same for the bakery. A sweet list of cakes, cookies etc. Parking can be a problem. Not enough spaces to park. Some others that are definitely worth mentioning is their pizza buying per slice (great portion size btw), and their pastas! A must when visiting is getting their pistachio Dubai chocolate cannoli! Their cannolis are made fresh and they really are amazing! The espresso tastes amazing! One thing that really stands out to me is that this deli/ grocery has been in business for a long time and the owners/employees are so welcoming and make you feel at home! They welcome you with genuine happiness. They have outdoor seating and they offer to go. They do have 2 spots for accessible parking and a few ramps. The aisles are pretty tight but if you ask the employers they are more than willing to help out! The entrance of the store is accessible and it's easy to move around.

And, there are other similar places that were closer and for years offered great food. However, the two other Jewish deli spots have really gone downhill and Scott's just keeps on delivering great food, hearty portions and fast, awesome service. So, my wife became the beneficiary of the other half. Definitely returning soon!

The menu is massive with all day breakfast and lunch, and if I lived closer, I would absolutely have made this a local spot to frequent for a taste of home. Plus they have several vegetarian items on the menu and even a vegan breakfast dish! We weren't allowed to dine in, so we took our order to go & ate in the car. I got the veggie reuben & my man got the number 3 (turkey sub). I also ordered 2 knishes (1 spinach & 1 plain) and a black & white cookie. The reuben was scrumptious with the buttery crisp toasted rye bread and packed with veggies. The pickles on the side were not as crisp as I would have liked but still good. The turkey sandwich was not piled high as expected but it was still a good amount of turkey with some cheese & toppings. It was so filling he could only eat half & saved the rest for later. The bread was plain white sub roll and was soft and chewy. No complaints on the sub and he enjoyed it. The knish didn't look like the ones I grew up eating, but these were homemade and way better than the square patty style from the hot dog carts in the city. They were packed with filling and had a thin crust layer around (definitely needed to eat with fork). The spinach was spread throughout & the combo with potato was even. Love that the black & white cookie was homemade! These are my favorite cookies & I always have to get one when I go back home to visit. These were different from the bakery ones I usually get (this icing was soft rather than hard shell type), but it was still delicious! If you have time to stop by before they close end of the month, I recommend you stop by, just check the shop hours and come way before closing time!
