I've been loving this spot to do work at because it's quiet even though it gets busy. Their coffee can be a hit or miss. But I've enjoyed their maple oat and horchata latte. They have lots of different matcha options - ceremonial, sweetened, and flavors like blueberry and lavender. Fyi, she mentioned if you get the sweetened matcha with strawberry that would make the drink a little too sweet. My bf got a large iced lavender vanilla latte with oat milk. They charge a $1 more for non-dairy milk and for flavors/syrups. It was pretty pricey at over $20 for both drinks. For non-dairy milks, they have almond milk, soy, oat, macadamia, and unsweetened almond - lots of options! I don't love that they don't post any prices on their menu so it's unclear how much things cost until you pay. The matcha was tasty and not too sweet at all. The lavender vanilla latte was also good. What an unexpected, BEAUTIFUL hidden treasure in the strip mall at the southeast corner of Ventura Blvd & Fallbrook. I've been back a few more times since my last review, and although it was in the middle of the day (because my initial review was based on an evening issue) they do deserve good mention for their service and always good coffee drinks I order here. Not many coffee shops offer Chagaccinos but I'm really glad this place does because it's not too far from my house. Iced Chagaccinos is primarily what I come here for, but I've also had other hot and iced lattes and they've all been good. I also come for the ube desserts which are always a treat. I've been coming here for the past few years and I still haven't had their bibinka because they're only served on Sundays. Unfortunately, I don't have coffee type days on Sundays because it's family time for me. Oh well... Visited this cafe after a year the day before Thanksgiving. The quietness, free wifi, and power outlets make this a convenient place to get some work done. However, during this visit, the items I ordered were underwhelming and a completely waste of $27. It's insane that I paid that much for an afternoon treat. Initially ordered their "lightly sweetened" matcha latte ($5.75), their iced barista blend which was maple something ($5.99) with a single shot of espresso, and their Dutch pancakes with chocolate sauce ($13)!!! The sweetened matcha latte was awful. It tasted like sweetened milk. They told me that it's because the powder is already sweetened which means it's not high quality ceremonial matcha. They offered to make me their unsweetened ceremonial matcha with a little bit of honey. Same issue. The matcha color was SO LIGHT. Zero flavor of matcha. I'm no stranger to high quality matcha (make it at home on a daily and have tried almost 10 different brands). This drink was very disappointing and I barely drank half and tossed it out before leaving. The barista blend latte was average. The color was SO LIGHT. Why give the option of "single shot or double shot" if the single shot is gonna be all milk, ice, and flavored syrup. It didn't taste bad but it didn't taste like coffee either and by the time the ice melted, it tasted like nothing. The puffed pancakes were so soft and below average for the $13 I paid for and the amount I got (6 pieces!!). Whatever topping you want is extra including the chocolate sauce, strawberries, etc. I've tried these pancakes both in the Netherlands and also have bought them from Trader Joe's many times. They have to be a lot more crispy and taste less like eggs. Overall, the only pros during this visit were that the staff were nice and that I got some work done. This is my new favorite matcha latte in LA! I got the blueberry lavender matcha latte with oat milk and it was and perfectly balanced, just the right flavor and strong enough without asking for extra matcha (I usually do) The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the avocado toast was pretty yummy too. Today is my birthday. For my special meal, I ate a wonderful Mediterranean dinner and wanted to top it off with a special treat. Tang & Java hit the mark!! Plus, the owner has an inspiring story behind the coffee shop's roots (come in and read her story). The place is small (three round tables and some counter space) but very clean and inviting. Small parking lot (corner of Ventura Blvd & Falbrook), but I had no problem getting a spot. Tang & Java serves specialty food items such as avocado toast, bagels, mini pancakes (must try!), specialty cold & hot drinks, and of course, my beloved Gelato (check out their website for the full menu). My bf and I visited this place and were amazed by all the yummy drinks on the menu. We had a hard time choosing what to get because so many sounded so good! This was my first time trying Tang and Java, and I didn't even realize it was only about 10 minutes from me -- such a great find! I love trying new coffee shops around the Valley and LA, and this one definitely did not disappoint. The shop itself is very cute and has a great vibe. The espresso they use is really good, which I appreciated because a lot of specialty coffee places go too heavy on the milk, sweetener, or ice -- making it taste more like a milkshake than coffee. Here, you can actually taste the espresso while still enjoying the flavor. My boyfriend ordered the salted caramel latte and added cookie butter crumble on top. I tried it, and it was delicious as well. The sweetness wasn't overpowering, and the espresso flavor still came through -- which he loves since he prefers a stronger drink. We're definitely planning on going back. After ordering, we noticed they still have some seasonal drinks we want to try -- I'm eyeing the eggnog latte, and he wants to try the cookie butter latte. Overall, I'd give this place a 9/10. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon around 3pm with a friend. There was hardly anyone at the place which was nice because it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Bagel Lox: 5/10 - too much cream cheese, but the lox was decent and the bagel and everything else inside was good. I wish they had more lox in the bagel because the cream cheese was too much. Strawberry Rose Matcha (8.5/10): this is your typically sweet strawberry matcha with a hint of rose notes in there. They had dried rose petals on top which was a nice touch. To be honest it tasted like grass jelly and less like matcha but I didn't mind. My friend got the Hawaiian Kona coffee. I didnt really taste the Hawaiian macadamia though. Going for my manicure around the area and having to stop by for my afternoon caffeine intake led me to find Tang & Java. The space was perfect as it came with parking spots within the complex. It was moderately busy in Saturday afternoon but I could still easily get myself a spot to chill and hang for awhile. The chiller and pastry case by the order point offered some options of munchies. I went for one of the most opted ones by the crowd, their Ube Mochi Cornbread. Flavor wise it was quite nice, coming in right sweetness level and decent ube flavor; besides being unique as I had never seen or tasted any ube cornbread before. Nonetheless, the texture was bit dry, maybe because it's refrigerated. The attendant did ask me if I would want the fresh slice, unfortunately only after I took my first bite already so it's too late. My drink was however AMAZING and tasted as great as it looked. I couldn't agree more with anyone else who said this was a must-try! The combo of sweet and salty just nailed the overall taste, and it's awesome that the coffee flavor could stay bold and dominant. The iced banana latte was amazing! Highly recommend if you're a banana flavor fan. Had a strong flavor because they use real banana in it. The coffee cake was an unfortunate miss for me though. It was a very dry cake, and I also didn't realize it had toasted coconut in it. It wasn't stated in the food label and the labels in their fridge section, where it was on display, are also very faded which made it impossible to read the ingredients clearly. Normally I am a fan of coconut, but I was taken by surprise, and was disappointed that the coffee cake did not resemble coffee cake in flavor at all.
