Tang & Java - Fave coffee place & locally owned in our neighborhood. - Gelato Near Me - Woodland Hills, California

I went in thinking "coffee shop," and walked out having experienced what can only be described as a spiritual awakening via chocolate gelato. I'm not exaggerating when I say it might be the best gelato -- actually scratch that -- the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. The chocolate was so rich, so smooth, so perfectly balanced that I genuinely had to pause between bites. It's the kind of dessert that makes you close your eyes and rethink every other chocolate experience you've ever had. And the coffee? Just as good. The whole vibe is cozy, welcoming, and dangerously addictive. If you haven't been to Tang n Java yet, go. Immediately. Your taste buds will thank you. read more

My bf and I visited this place and were amazed by all the yummy drinks on the menu. We had a hard time choosing what to get because so many sounded so good! My bf ended up getting the drink on the right, and I got the one on the left. They were both yummy. I was asked if I wanted 2 or 3 espresso shots for my large drink. I said 2, but while I was drinking it I regretted not getting 3. I would've enjoyed it more. The service was fast and the coffee shop is so pretty. They also serve gelato. One day I want to try it! read more

Oh my gosh! How have I never tried Tang & Java until today? I got the Barista Iced Latte and it was delicious! Smooth finish and not too sweet which I prefer. I will definitely be back to try the rest of their signature lattes. Oh and customer service was fantastic! read more

Oh my gosh, this place is fabulous. The ambience is very peaceful but also lively. Great music and service. Cappuccino gelato is amaze

Gelato, specialty coffee and tea drinks, and food and more. Woman owned. My favorite: Hawaiian Kona coffee and ceremonial grade matcha latte! Gelatos flavors I'm excited to try: fior de latte and rice pudding flavor. Affogato looks amazing too. Easy parking lot and really close to the freeway exit! Right along fallbrook and Ventura so the location is excellent!! read more

I have been meaning to write this review for a while, I visited this place maybe 2/3 weeks ago and it is kind of out of my way to get to but so worth it. I loved the Matcha latte and Toasted Tiramisu Latte a lot and want to come back to try more! They have a very extensive menu so there's options for everyone and I'm sure the employees will help. The place is smaller, not a lot of places to sit inside. Parking is kind of a problem, the plaza they're located in isn't very easy to get in and out of but there is street parking if needed. read more

This is my new favorite matcha latte in LA! I got the blueberry lavender matcha latte with oat milk and it was and perfectly balanced, just the right flavor and strong enough without asking for extra matcha (I usually do) The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the avocado toast was pretty yummy too. It was a nice environment to sit and study for a minute although it isn't a huge space. I'm sure it fills up quick on weekends knowing how incredibly good the drinks are. I'm from out of town but I can't wait to come back. read more

Love coming here for an after work pick me up. My favorite gelato flavors are rice, biscoff, and cookies and cream. I also love sampling all their other flavors which are all bomb. I love this place. I remember when they opened a couple of years ago we didn't understand what's going to be there since then this is such a nice place to come drink coffee maybe a smoothie to eat a nice sandwich. It's so family oriented place that it's feels like you come to your friend's house. read more

The barista was nice after I asked about different latte suggestions and favorites. Ordered the Hawaiian Kona. Was told it has macadamia syrup. Tasted good but wasn't too special. Ube brownie cheesecake was small for $7. The cheesecake frosting balanced with the ube brownie so it wasn't too sweet, although not as soft as I'd like since it's been chilled. Wish the portion was bigger for the price. The strawberry rose matcha tasted good with its floral notes. Can't say anything about the lox bagel but they do put a lot of cream cheese if that's what you're into. Lots of crystals, books, and cafe merch. Overall beautifully decorated and clean. Quiet and not too busy on Wednesday afternoon. Lots of options for coffee, matcha, dessert and lunch. read more

Came here on a Wednesday afternoon around 3pm with a friend. There was hardly anyone at the place which was nice because it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Bagel Lox: 5/10 - too much cream cheese, but the lox was decent and the bagel and everything else inside was good. I wish they had more lox in the bagel because the cream cheese was too much. Strawberry Rose Matcha (8.5/10): this is your typically sweet strawberry matcha with a hint of rose notes in there. They had dried rose petals on top which was a nice touch. To be honest it tasted like grass jelly and less like matcha but I didn't mind. My friend got the Hawaiian Kona coffee. I didnt really taste the Hawaiian macadamia though. Ube cheesecake brownie: (7/10): the ube was pretty good and so was the cheesecake portion. I'm usually not a cheesecake person but I wanted to try something different. I wish the ube brownie part was softer and chewier. read more

Been coming here for a few years because it's on my way home from work and it's always lovely. They have a variety of drinks with a rotating seasonal menu, and a good selection of Gelato to choose from. The only downsides are limited parking, and because I believe they hire a lot of students part time, sometimes the employees don't know the menu well when they take your order. read more

This was my first time trying Tang and Java, and I didn't even realize it was only about 10 minutes from me -- such a great find! I love trying new coffee shops around the Valley and LA, and this one definitely did not disappoint. The shop itself is very cute and has a great vibe. I ordered the banana latte, and it was absolutely delicious. One thing that stood out (and honestly made me a little hesitant at first) was that they blend an actual fresh banana into the latte. I wasn't sure how that would taste, but it ended up being super creamy, smooth, and perfectly balanced. The espresso they use is really good, which I appreciated because a lot of specialty coffee places go too heavy on the milk, sweetener, or ice -- making it taste more like a milkshake than coffee. Here, you can actually taste the espresso while still enjoying the flavor. My boyfriend ordered the salted caramel latte and added cookie butter crumble on top. I tried it, and it was delicious as well. The sweetness wasn't overpowering, and the espresso flavor still came through -- which he loves since he prefers a stronger drink. We're definitely planning on going back. After ordering, we noticed they still have some seasonal drinks we want to try -- I'm eyeing the eggnog latte, and he wants to try the cookie butter latte. Overall, I'd give this place a 9/10. The only small downside is that they don't open until 8:30 a.m., which can be a bit inconvenient on workdays -- but that just means it'll be a weekend coffee stop for us. Highly recommend checking it out if you're a coffee lover! read more

Tang &Java is a very cute trendy place to grab coffee or gelato with friends! The barista was very kind and helpful when picking out drinks. I will say that for a Saturday morning they only had one staff member and a line out the door. It was so sad to see this one barista trying to take orders, make drinks, and serve food. Also if I offer a $9 iced latte I expect the cups to be sturdy. The lid came off my cup every time I picked it up. The lid was leaking coffee too. Unfortunately my pants and car were splashed with coffee by the time I made it home. read more

Going for my manicure around the area and having to stop by for my afternoon caffeine intake led me to find Tang & Java. The space was perfect as it came with parking spots within the complex. It was moderately busy in Saturday afternoon but I could still easily get myself a spot to chill and hang for awhile. The chiller and pastry case by the order point offered some options of munchies. I went for one of the most opted ones by the crowd, their Ube Mochi Cornbread. Flavor wise it was quite nice, coming in right sweetness level and decent ube flavor; besides being unique as I had never seen or tasted any ube cornbread before. Nonetheless, the texture was bit dry, maybe because it's refrigerated. The attendant did ask me if I would want the fresh slice, unfortunately only after I took my first bite already so it's too late. My drink was however AMAZING and tasted as great as it looked. I couldn't agree more with anyone else who said this was a must-try! The combo of sweet and salty just nailed the overall taste, and it's awesome that the coffee flavor could stay bold and dominant. Yummy quencher for sure! read more

The iced banana latte was amazing! Highly recommend if you're a banana flavor fan. Had a strong flavor because they use real banana in it. The coffee cake was an unfortunate miss for me though. It was a very dry cake, and I also didn't realize it had toasted coconut in it. It wasn't stated in the food label and the labels in their fridge section, where it was on display, are also very faded which made it impossible to read the ingredients clearly. Normally I am a fan of coconut, but I was taken by surprise, and was disappointed that the coffee cake did not resemble coffee cake in flavor at all. The cafe itself is a nice local spot to stop in for more Asian inspired drinks and desserts, which is awesome to have around here read more

Tang & Java - Iced Banana Latte and Ube Toasted Coconut Coffeecake - Gelato Near Me - Woodland Hills, California

We happened on Tang & Java, Woodland Hills at 22776 Ventura Blvd. Small strip mall on a very busy intersection. Hunting for coffee after our big diner breakfast down the street. Breakfast was great, but coffee not so much. So Tang & Java was a perfect find! A little oasis of cool Interior, nice, clean, modern with warm accents and decor. Peruse the menus for coffee, gelato and snacks. Order at the counter and grab a table. Ordered a go-to cappuccino and it was perfect! You know it's good when with each sip you savor and let the roasted flavors of premium rich coffee beans linger on your palate. I appreciate an excellent cappuccino any time I can find one and T&J did very well here. There's a small menu of snacks like POFFERTJES, small Dutch treats you can customize with cheese, strawberries or whipped cream! Or, WOWEE, BIBINGKAS (available only on Sundays), a Filipino bake rice cake!!!! But their selection and variety of in-house made gelatos was impressive and should be enjoyed. Next trip! Tang & Java is a nice find for coffees and espressos, snacks and gelato! See you there. read more

Wished yelped at a scale system, but I'd give this place a 3.8. I love their gelato and their Yuzu Calamansi drink, but unfortunately this unsweetened ceremonial matcha latte was underwhelming. The matcha was non-existent and ratio of milk-to-matcha was off-putting. I'd suggest adding a bit more matcha to have a more deep green flavor. I also had their ube latte a few weeks back. It was also a bit underwhelming with it's price point. Not sure if there was enough syrup added to the drink for this one. Service is welcoming through. No restrooms so it's only a pit stop. If they have restrooms, this would be a nice cafe to study in. read more

The service was good and seating was great as well. I'll definitely be back to try more. Cute little cafe in Woodland Hills. Has a small free parking lot which is nice. They also have a big menu between their coffee drinks and gelatos, but I'd say there are only about 4 or 5 things on the food menu. All the drinks we tried were really good! However, the service I think could've been a little better. Although they were a little busy, there was no sense of urgency whatsoever. They also had to check if they had several ingredients in stock.. but overall because the drinks were really good, I'd be back! read more

I ordered the sea salt caramel toffee iced latte and had I not ordered it myself, I wouldn't have known that's what I'm drinking. It didn't taste like caramel or toffee at all, and the coffee was bitter. There was also coffee sediment at the bottom of my drink which tells me they don't clean their espresso machine consistently. I also ordered their ube treats -- ube biscoff brownie, ube cheesecake & ube mochi cornbread and they were mid. The ube brownie had the consistency of play doh and was kind of powdery. Although it had two biscoff cookies on top I did not taste it at all because the powdery ube overpowered it. The ube cheesecake was descent but the ube on the bottom was kind of dense. The ube mochi cornbread didn't taste like ube at all, it tasted mostly like cornbread and the consistency was too chewy. I was disappointed with what I ordered because their pictures and reviews made me excited to try them, but maybe I just ordered the wrong items. The bright side were the baristas who were extremely kind and helpful! read more

Tang and Java is such a gem! I work nearby and this has become my go-to spot whenever I need a pick-me-up. Their mocha frapp with an extra shot is chef's kiss -- so good every single time. The space is small but super clean, with about 2-3 tables and a cute little bar area that's perfect for reading or getting some work done. I've come in a few times just to chill with a book and vibe to the music -- usually Drake, which I love. I believe it's Filipino woman-owned which makes me love supporting it even more I haven't tried the gelato yet but it always looks amazing. Also, random detail but worth mentioning: their bathroom is beaaautiful and spotless. Big fan of this place! read more

Cute coffee spot offering various gelato, drinks and poffertjes. Loved the decor, calm, and homely environment. I enjoyed the pandan latte, pandan and ube crinkle cookies (moist and filled with lots of flavor in every bite, were on the sweet side which I think would pair very well with hot tea). The gelato tasted fresh and creamy. We also received a complimentary 6 piece poffertjes with Yelp Check-In). Would love to come back and try other items on their menu! read more

Cute Cafe with Limited Seating & Parking, But Some Standout Items Parking here is very limited, but we got lucky and snagged the last available spot when we arrived. The cafe itself is small, and since it was busy, we had to clean our own table before sitting down. There were only two staff members working, so service was a bit slow, our food took a while to come out, and we almost finished our drinks by the time it arrived. We ordered the Strawberry Rose Matcha and the Mocha Frappe. The Mocha Frappe was good, though it had some coffee bits in it. The Strawberry Rose Matcha was just okay, I couldn't really taste the matcha flavor. For food, we tried the Bibingka and Poffertjes, and the Poffertjes were our favorite! They were delicious and definitely the highlight. Overall, it's a cozy spot with some hits and misses. If you're not in a rush and can snag parking, it's worth a try, just be prepared for a wait during peak times. read more

I was so excited at the potential for this spot, given their menu options, but it unfortunately fell short in a few ways. First, while ordering was simple and service was friendly, the time it took to get our orders was pretty long. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks, though the place was pretty empty. There might have been maybe 1 person in front of us. It took us 30 minutes to get our check-in poffertjes, though. It seems like they forgot they were cooking, so they had to start them again when we checked on our order. They were similar to mini pancakes, which were nice, but not worth a 30 minute wait. Second, the ube cookie didn't taste much like ube. It was way overpowered by the coconut flakes in the cookie, which we weren't expecting. I wouldn't go for that again. Third, while my friend really enjoyed her blueberry lavender matcha, I wasn't a fan of the ube latte (with soymilk). It didn't really taste much of ube either, so it was a bit underwhelming. Overall, while the menu items sounded really exciting, the execution was lacking. If anything, my friend did really enjoy her matcha, so that's a plus. I would be willing to come back to try their ice cream, though! read more

The gelato was more than good, it was exuberantly delicious. The flavor was strawberry and kiwi. Portion size was decent. The dragon fruit and hibiscus was okay, felt like it needed something more. It's in a small plaza so I could how parking could suck around this place. Definitely coming back for more gelato! read more

They have terrible customer service. The managers are rude and will hang up on you multiple times mid conversation after they forgot to package orders properly or didn't tell a driver who is delivering your items to you that a drink is included in your order and that they need to take it with them. The staff is incompetent and they're constantly messing up orders. I've received their little Dutch pancakes multiple times where they're half baked or over baked and they either are missing strawberries on them or they don't have any toppings on them whatsoever. They've screwed up my drinks before or sent me wrong drinks. This coffee shop is a nice concept but it is very poorly executed and no one there gives a damn about the customers. And they let that be known every single time they hang up on you. And every single time that they yell at you. And when you don't have a car to drive halfway across the valley in order to pick up your items that the manager and the staff forgot to include in your order, they make you feel like trash about it and they tell you that it's your problem and you need to figure it out. I will definitely not be ordering from here despite of being one of my favorite places to get coffee when it's reliable service. However it seems like they keep trading out staff and nothing about them is reliable anymore. Not even the courtesy or the common sense. read more

Cute little cafe snack stop. It is located in small plaza with parking. Service is excellent. I love the variety of their menu from gelato to drinks like coffee and smoothies. Smoothies are fresh. Parking: Small parking lot available, but shared w/ other businesses. Can also park on nearby streets, e.g. Del Valle behind the store Ambience: Cute and brightly lit! Various plants and Christmas ornaments hang from the ceiling, and there's plenty of Christmas cheer to go around, from music to snowflakes to tabletop decorations. There are 3 small tables for group work / hangouts, and one long tabletop for individuals. Wifi and outlets available as well. No public restroom available. Seems engaged with community (box near front door for Christmas gift donations). Service: Friendly, no complaints!
