Discovering Ziyka few years ago was heavenly. This was one of the first places in Melbourne that…read moresatisfied my curry needs. They do set specials - rice and choice of 2 curries for $7.50 (or $7.80? Less than $8). At one point, they seem to have toned down on the spicy-ness of some of my favourite curries, much to my disappointment. However, when we went back recently, they were back to how we like it - strong flavours with that spicy kick. Love the chickpea curry paired with the lamb briyani- highly recommended. Tastes even better the day after (as with most curries). Portions are huge, which is a plus point for me as I takeaway what's leftover for my lunch/dinner the next day . Hey! Won't say 'no' to curry two days in a row. Great garlic naan too.

Looking for a no frills cheap place with quick service, satisfying food at affordable prices - look…read moreno further. Ziyka serves both Pakistani and Indian food but as the owners are Pakistani it makes no sense to order the usual indian dishes. The menu is extensive with so many to choose from that you must try some Pakistani cuisine. My friend and I ordered the chicken bharta which was large pieces of chicken in a peppery yoghurt gravy with fresh capsicum and onion Very peppery and mild. But delicious. The lamb saag with its creaminess and peppery flavour was definitely a winner. The garlic naan were super buttery with a massive helping of fresh mince garlic. So many strong flavours Table service is provided. Take away options available too.

Discovered this lovely Indian restaurant while exploring the Fitzroy neighborhood. I fell in love…read morewith the beautiful and colorful decor. The space felt light and airy, with plenty of room, along with a classy ambiance. Of course I had to try the Mango Lassi sprinkled with pistachio, which was a combination you wouldn't expect, but was surprisingly delicious together. The Mango Lassi was perfectly thick, fruity, smooth, while the pistachio was delicate and nutty. I ordered the from the Bombay Tiffin Service, selecting the Tradies Tiffin. This consisted of 4 separate tiers of meat, vegetable, carb, and naan bread. I was able to request Lamb for the meat. The Lamb was melt in your mouth tender in a well seasoned sauce. Another tin container had Bhel Puri which was a tasty cold and crunchy concoction of puffed rice with peanuts, pomegranate, tomatoes, onion, lime, as well as a bit of tamarind and green chutney. I really enjoyed this, as it was light, refreshing, full of bold flavors. This meal also came with Lentils, which was cooked well and hearty. Service was solid. Our waitress was welcoming and helpful with the menu. Pricing was very reasonable. I would consider returning to try the Lamb Chops, Bombay Fish Masala, as well as the Rose & Cinnamon Lassi.

Took them 90 mins to get the food. When it came it's watered down drinks and bland terrible tasting…read morefood. The food at this place is beyond disgusting. The peas was undercooked in peas pulav, naan dripping of butter and not flavorful, we all wasted food. Horr ble experience and ruined our evening

Opener of thin shells of pastry filled with potato and chick peas. Comes with a bottle of mint sauce. Refreshing and delicious. Butter chicken. Always nourishing and rich. We had saffron rice and garlic naan to accompany. Not adventurous, but reliably perfect. Service can be fun (if you're a bit playful with them) and always prompt. A great cheap and cheerful local. Will return often!

I've been here alone with my Kindle, on dates, to help friends get over break-ups, for birthday parties, and even brought my mother when she visited from overseas. The staff is efficient and happy to chat. Highlights - saag paneer (spinach and Indian cottage cheese), baingan bartha (smokey eggplant dish), and any vindaloo to bring the heat. If they have goat on the menu, just get it, I haven't had better in the city. They make their own pappadam and naan in a big glass cube. The smoke and spices fill the air so be mindful if you've just come from the hairdresser and want to preserve that fresh-from-the-salon smell. Insider tip: if you're with a group (or even alone) and you feel like having one of those nights, they serve a high-ABV (8%) Indian beer called Haywards 5000 (the internet tells me it's Kingfisher's "premium" label) which is a bit sweet that stands up well to the strong flavours in the food. ~ Disclosure - I'm a former Yelp employee.

I've been sitting on this review for a while now. I've been working it over and over in my head,…read moreshould I even post a review or is it better to just let it go? Inspired by the courage of Elliot Page, I finally decided to log in and write this restaurant review. I've never had indian food before. The second I walked in I was hit with a wall of fart smell. I saw two kooky characters having a spirited mouth off in the kitchen, shouting goopty goopta back and forth. Those two things combined together had me crying laughing. This is supposed to be a restaurant? Still don't know what the food tastes like I just left.

The interior is nice and it was a warm night when we dined so the front window of the store had been slid to one side which made the inside the perfect temperature and also gave the impression we were outside. I found the staff to be very attentive, however the choice of music was quite hilarious with a varied mix. We shared an entree of mushrooms cooked with chilli and garlic which was amazing. I ordered the lamb madras and my girlfriend enjoyed (after much deliberation) the eggplant masala. All was filled with flavour and I couldn't walk away - or should i say roll away - without finishing both. They also do take away, are lisenced and BYOB.
