I've never tried the takeaway service but the dining experience is great and at a high standard for a restaurant in a small village. Why not try it yourself. You can feed two for around £30!!

So we thought we'd give it a try based on the reviews here. What a pleasant surprise. We received a warm welcome, we hadn't booked a table, but were shown straight to a table. It was quite busy considering it was only 7:15pm. As Curryholics, we thought we'd try something a little different, so we had Poppadoms, then the Mixed Platter to start, followed by the Agni Karai, Lamb Matka and a Cheese & Garlic Nan. The food was superb. Both are medium dishes with lots of flavour & just the right amount of kick!! The bill came to £37, including drinks, so overall it was good value. The service was welcoming, friendly & helpful. Will definitely be back.

This is my favourite Indian in the Darlington area. Its…read morelocated on the A66 dual carriageway between Darlington & Stockton and is very isolated, apart from the petrol station it sits next to there is nothing else around for a couple of miles so the downfall for me is I have to drive as its out of town and a little too far for a taxi. Obviously driving means no drinking so therefore even thou this is my favourite I don't manage to get there as often as I would like. The guys who run this place are not local and commute a couple of hundred miles each day and because of this they seem to put maximum effort into making your visit well worth while. Food is good (better than average) Service is 100% Decor is OK but but nothing fantastic Overall - very enjoyable and worth while

I am not the biggest fan of spicy food so know very little about Indian cooking, but the staff were happy to explain a few dishes and give recommendations. The food was well cooked and looked and tasted great. It has a full menu with all the dishes you expect from an Indian take away and it was very well priced. If you want you can telephone in your order for collection otherwise you have the usually 15 min takeaway wait for the food to be prepared. It is definately worth a try and I doubt you will be dissapointed.

I have…read moreeaten in this restaurant for a number of years now and even though I work away, when I return this is the first place I visit and I am always glad to return as the food is orgasmically good. The menu has a modest but varying selection of meals to tempt your tastebuds ranging from very mild to very hot and any dish can be custom altered on your request to suit your particular taste. There is a fair selection of drinks available and if you want your favourite alcopop you can always pop across the road to Doc Browns when you have finished your meal. The service is great with a genuine personal touch. Even when it is busy, which is often, you are still treated with honesty and courtesy and put before the almighty persuit of profit. I advise you to book ahead if you intend to visit, as a quick telephone call could mean the difference between a considerable wait and being seated right away as all parties who have no booking are rightly seated and served on a first come first served basis. The only thing I would change about Jamal's would be the size of the restaurant, it has a warm cozy atmosphere and is very intimate which is great for talking to friends, this can be a drawback however when you get the odd individual dining that has had to much to drink meaning you could end up being closer to a drunk than you would like. But that said this is a blinding little secret that you owe it to yourself to try if you profess to be a lover of a decent curry. And of course, it always helps to eat where the chef is the holder of more that one regional award for his food!

The staff are very helpfull too and will make something for you if its not on the menu eg: they alwyas removed my chicked tandoori from the bone for me. My favourites though are the garlic naan breads which always arrive piping hot (along with everything else) and dripping in tasty garlic. The service is quick too.

At that time the food was traditional english cuisine and it was very difficult to get a table. The place is now under new management and is an Indian restaraunt. When I first went along I was very surprised. I expected the usual run of the mill Inidian restaraount but this is something very special. I wish I had booked a table in advance as it was very busy and judging by the quality of the food I doubt this wil be unusual. The menu was very varied and included a lot of dishes which I had not come across before. The vegetarian and fish selections were particularly impressive with some dishes offring whole fishes such as tandoori trout. The decor is tasteful but authentic. No flock wall paper or cheap prints of elephants. Sophisticated and impressive. The service was good. Despite being busy we didn't have to wait long for food or drinks. The only negative comment I could possibly make is that there are steps inside which may prevent some disabled access. This is a shame. There is a parking area outside for quite a few cars but I think this is shared with neighbouring bed and breakfast places and bars. There are other parking areas close by and on street parking is allowed close by. Quite a few bars within walking distance and also a taxi rank. You could make this part of a whole evening out in a very senic village.

Firstly the place was empty of customers but thought this might have been due to the fact we went on a sunday. We ordered starters of mixed kebabs and onion baji's. The mint sauce served with the starters tasted sour and the onion baji's tasted disgusting. For our main course we ordered lamb tikka byriani with a nan bread. The lamb was very chewy and more like mutton and the nan bread was burnt black on the bottom. The vegetable sauce tasted very sweet and swimming in grease. In the ten years of trying different restaurants this has to be one of the worst and would score from us a 1/10!

Best Indian meal I've ever tasted. I tried tikka paneer for my starter and could have eaten more for main! it was absolutely delicious. I had a taste of Trev's mixed kebab and wanted that too! We both tried Exclusive specialities, having noticed the 20% discount for being early birds. I had the Hariali which was a bit too rich and creamy for Trev's taste, and I would probably opt for the medium version next time (and there WILL be a next time) Trev had the Chicken Shashlik Balti which was full, of chunks of meat, peppers and onions in a very thick sauce. Included was a nan and rice, the bill came to just over 20 quid. Tip top! We agreed we possibly wouldn't choose to eat in as the location is a bit odd. There was a pub, The Pavillion, nearby, where we had a swift one while we waited, tho it's not really our scene, but the restaurant is on a line of take-aways and local shops in the middle of a housing estate.
