I had the catfish nuggets they are extremely well seasoned and had the perfect crispness to them. I was extremely impressed with the fresh cut french fries. The fries are not frozen! You could tell the potatoes were cut fresh and fried in that definitely comes through in the flavor. I can never understand why so many restaurants use a frozen french fry :-( however Rico's uses fresh cut fries! :-) so no need to be disappointed in some other restaurants said Frozen fries, just come to Rico's and enjoy in house fresh cut french fries! I was very impressed with the remodel of the restaurant, the decor was much more modern in up-to-date and the restaurant is extremely clean. It is nothing like the previous business in this location when it comes to cleanliness and decor. They have done an amazing job turning around that building in putting in a very modern well decorated in extremely clean restaurant in that space. I am anxious to go back and try some of the new Mexican food dishes on the menu. Rico's is a definite place for lunch or dinner. To be completely honest we did try the breakfast and was not impressed at all, we will not be back for breakfast. But for dinner we are 100% going to be there again! The fried catfish in the fresh cut french fries absolutely cannot be missed. They now serve chips and salsa at the table when you come in, the chips are fresh made in house, and are very good. The chips are extremely thin and crispy and you can still see the hot glistening oil because they're freshly made right before they're brought out to the table. The hot sauce is excellent! But be cautious because the two times that we've had it it was extremely spicy. :-) but then I love a very spicy hot sauce so I was in heaven! The hot sauce has great flavor!! Once I go back and try the Mexican food on the menu I'll update this review. Definitely make a point of coming and trying Rico's and supporting a new family owned restaurant in South Irving. You will not regret eating here!

Here's a polished review you could post:…read more I've been a frequent customer at Sagreros Mexican Restaurant for years, and it continues to be one of my favorite places to eat. Their food tastes homemade and authentic, just like something your grandma would make. My absolute favorite is the pollo con crema enchiladas. I always add the salsa they serve with the chips along with their green salsa, and the combination is amazing. I've also tried the Águila Skillet--the nopales are delicious, the beef fajitas are incredibly tender, and the handmade tortillas are some of the best I've had. The caldo de mariscos has the perfect amount of spice, the menudo is always delicious, and the caldo de res tastes like a comforting homemade meal. Their pechuga is juicy, flavorful, and tastes freshly made. The tostadas de ceviche are outstanding, and the crispy tripa tacos are cooked perfectly with just the right crunch. And don't skip the drinks--the micheladas are excellent, and the mango shot is one of my favorites. Everything I've tried has been delicious. The quality, flavor, and authentic Mexican cooking keep me coming back year after year. If you're looking for food that feels homemade and made with care, I highly recommend Sagreros Mexican Restaurant.

This time I ordered their namesake chicken sandwich and Parmesan fries. I asked for some of the standard "toppings" to either be removed, or placed on the side. This would allow me to carefully check out the ones that I retained as I have a very discerning palate and me to "build my own" sandwich to my liking. The heart of the sandwich was a choice chicken breast on a great roll. This also allowed me to apply the right amount of their "special sauce" to my liking. This also allowed me to enjoy their magnificent coleslaw as a separate side item ( unique and excellent ). EQUALLY GOOD were the Parmesan french fries . Both visits demonstrated EXCELLENT crinkle cut fries. IT DOES NOT GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS ! ! ! ! Both times my order was prepared EXACTLY to my requests - and both orders were made and presented on an EXPERT and PROFESSIONAL fashion. A great shout- out to the lady at the front counter as she is very knowledgeable and "on the ball". I continue to be impressed with this humble restaurant ! ! . . . . . . . .
