Tandem Ciders makes the best cider I have ever had. That's really all there is to say, really, that it's amazing. I mean, the location is absolutely gorgeous. They had too many types of ciders to try all of them and be able to drive home (although maybe that's just me being a lightweight). They make a number of delightfully dry ciders that are completely, refreshingly different from most. And hey, their sweeter ones hit the spot too. Did I mention the location is beautiful and I could spend all day there sipping cider and taking in the scenery? I told you that right? I spent a day touring the wineries with my parents, and Tandem was a good change of pace. Living in Houston, I had scouted to see if there were any cider producers in the TC area, and I had my mind set on Tandem. I was glad we stopped. You are able to try 3 ciders at no charge, which was great. Their ciders were varied in taste, which was refreshing. I ended up taking a bottle of Ida Gold back with me to Texas. Great cider selection both at the store front and selections offered in area stores. I had the Bee's Cider the other nice and it was wonderful. I had forgotten I had it because it was in back of the frig. Yummy!!! The cider house has a pretty cozy feel, a little tight when it gets busy. This place is just cool. A small barn, tucked away in "The County", that sells nothing but delicious hard cider. The atmosphere is completely casual, a pleasant change from several (not every) wineries in Leelanau county. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of their products. The cider is outstanding and they even offer some light food choices. My favorite are the pickled eggs. Yes, pickled eggs. Being just North of Suttons Bay and essentially on the way to the casino, you're doing yourself an injustice by not stopping. GO! NOW! read more

I gave them a second try. I prefer dry ciders, so the Green Man and one other dryer cider seemed more familiar to my palette this time. Still not crazy about some of the other concoctions, but they have a broader selection than I had remembered from the initial visit. Love this place! The environment is cozy and great for small groups, even better if you can get in a game of darts, or cribbage. All their ciders are amazing and they are constantly trying new styles. For our wedding, instead of getting champagne we got a keg of the Pretty Penny for our toast! I really enjoyed this place. It is hard for me to get away from the beach when up in this area and I do not really drink wine too much so this cider place on a cloudy day is really great option. Service was great for being slammed in the middle of day and the ciders we tried were all very tasty. 4$ dollar pints are the way to go after your free tastings. Pickled eggs are like a novelty I do not see very often anymore...while these are a bit bland here they were still tasty and a fun bar snack. Very nice spot in a beautiful area. read more

I visited Tandem Ciders on a recent trip to the area. Its great reviews led me here. It seems like it's in the middle of nowhere but I knew immediately that I had found it without signage because of the tandem bike on the building. I was a bit worried that my toddler wouldn't be welcome here but I was wrong. There were kids toys around the property from the owners child and other kids were in the area. We sidled up to the bar and were greeted with a menu of all the offerings. $2 for 3 2oz pours was a great deal. We each tried 3 and compared. Some very interesting combinations! They grow many apples here - one of the ciders was made with several varieties. My favorite was the Smackintosh, which is one of their best sellers. My least favorite was one made from cherries that I couldn't even finish because it was tart and just gross. We left with some cans and a recommendation to try another local winery, which was excellent and a perfect place to visit on an afternoon of booze seeking. read more

Tandem was a lot of fun. First off a bike themed business will get me every time. Second the cider was delicious. We were given a tasting of all 4 draft varieties, and you could buy a sample of any of the bottles varieties for a buck, which makes sense, The pints were pretty cheap, so after the tasting we each got a pint of our favorite. With the Yelp app I got a free bowl of peanuts, and I bought a pickled egg (!) for a dollar. I've never had a pickled egg before, or even the chance to buy one that I can think of, and I enjoyed it. The area inside is pretty small, but the outside area was beautiful. We just hung out under a tree playing horseshoes while enjoying out delicious ciders, My favorite was the Pretty Penny, it had great balance with a nice crisp finish. Highly recommend. read more

My wife and I are gluten intolerant so that the opportunity to travel the Leelanau Lake area with so many cideries (and wineries) is a blast. We loved Tandem Ciders. The tasting room is a bit cramped (there is plenty of room outside seating area), but the staff make it fun and friendly. We enjoyed the tasting each of the ciders, but we really loved that they did a mix of them too. We liked the Walk through the Orchard blend the best. read more

I knew right away that I was going to like it here when we pulled up! There were picnic tables full of folks and people playing horseshoes and unlike some of the other wineries, a lot of people just hanging out! Then they let us bring our dog in with us to try some ciders, which was great. I can't say I love ciders or know a ton about them, but I surprised how tasty some of these were and really refreshing, just a clean simple apple taste, but so many different varieties. We went home with a bunch of bottles of cider. Something totally different to break up a day of wineries next time I am driving around Leelanau. read more

Unfortunately we didn't actually get to try the cider here...after being ignored for over 30 minutes while others were helped. Even others who arrived after us. We have been to many a tasting room and this was hands down the worst experience we've had. Super cute location tucked away from the main road . They served four ciders on tap, all made fri different apple blends. Some were dry and some sweeter . All were good , perhaps not exceptional but good , crisp and clean. We stopped for cider while wine tasting and were not disappointed. They had 4 featured ciders on draft for free sampling and all were delicious. I was also able to enjoy several pickled eggs, a rarity these days. We ended up ordering several pints of cider and a bottle to go. We brought our family here, with two kids and the owner pulled out bowls of peanuts and apple juice for the kiddos, and boy did that keep them entertained while the adults tasted the different ciders. My wife and I were visiting Leelanau County and we heard from several people that Tandem Ciders was worth the stop in the middle of wine country. It's a small, quaint place that can maybe seat 10 people and they have four ciders on tap for tasting. All of them are very tasty and use local apples. It was a nice change from the wine tasting and they had a great little menu that had local cheese and crackers for some light snacking.
