I've driven past a few times and today I'm delighted that I stopped to try them out. It's breakfast o'clock and there is table service so take a seat and someone is right with you. They get it right with taking a coffee order right away, do I look like I need one? Well I did need one and lucky for everybody it was made promptly and delivered with a smile. Today I chose the Big Breaky Burger. I find it hard not to give these a try everywhere. I noted on the menu some additional ingredients that you won't typically see. This burger was clearly of a higher class. When it arrived (which was surprisingly quick, I guess they are quiet today, but awesome) the presentation was pretty eye catching. I blurted our something stupid and incomprehensible to the waitress. What I meant to say was "that looks awesome" and "thank you". Let's cut to the juice. The coffee is great, smooth with no bitterness! The bacon is delicious, maybe a light smokey flavour and crisped to perfection. The burger is made on a fluffy brioche bun as it should be. The avocado was generous and had a slight lemon flavour like they cared for it delicately begins the scenes. I love this place after one visit! I'll be back, and I'll bring other people. The waitress and cashier never smiled once. I felt that they didn't want to be there. The price was ok, and the meals were large.. I did take the meal I ordered home as it was a spicy chicken salad. Now I could go on about how great my coffee was but I would rather bring you up to speed on the namesake of this cafe. They certainly got it right. I was totally tempted by the range of delicious looking cakes and sweets. As well as different sized chocolate mud cakes and cheesecakes they also had fruit packed apple strudel and tarts. As an example the Bailey's Cheesecake was $39. The custard filled cannoli's ($3.30) also caught my eye but I resisted temptation and stuck with my coffee (how saintly am I?) and distracted myself by reading a section of the newspaper. This coffee lay somewhere in between good and excellent, as it should because it is called an "espresso bar" after all and for $4 you get a gigantic mug of this decent stuff. There wasnt a lot of food on display but they did have a chef out back cooking from the menu. However, today I had the cheese, tomato and chicken snitzel on crusty, seaseme seed roll with mayonnaise and a dash of hot chilli sauce which was quite tasty. The pricing however was a bit steep. $27 for two coffees abd two above mentioned rolls. I cant say I've even paid this price in the city so I'll probably just grab my coffees from here and eat elsewhere. The staff were friendly and the chef came and had a chat with me. He seemed to know his stuff so I might be keen to come back and try the menu next time. Perhaps after I pay my credit card off.
