I chose to give birth my second time at the birthing center because I wanted to experience labor and birth as naturally as I could with as little medical Intervention as possible and meeting with Tammy put my mind at ease. She understood and shared my husband and Is values which is why even though she didn't take our insurance we decided to pay out of pocket which we were thankful that was a reasonable option and glad that there were no hidden fees. I liked that my prenatal visits were all (but one) done by Tammy so she saw my progress and knew everything. She is very informative and answered all my questions and concerns in great detail and didn't make the appointments feel rushed. My blood pressure and bump were checked at every visit. There was no ultrasounds in office but she did check baby's heart with a Doppler. I didn't mind since I had had a health pregnancy before but I can see how this might bother first time moms. All necessary Bloodwork was taken in the office and sent out for results. The day I gave birth I was able to reach Tammy and was very accessible throughout labor process. My plan was to have a water birth but I progressed really fast and had to give birth on the bed which turned out to be better for the aftercare. I had mentioned to Tammy during my prenatal visits i had a hard to taking everything in my first birth so she really helped keeping me in the moment, calming me down and reassuring me everything was okay. We were there a total of 4 hours and were happy to rest in the comfort of our home soon after. As a third time mom- having has two prior natural births one at Cedars Sinai (1st) and one at a birth center in Santa Clarita (2nd) I knew I wanted to do a birth center for my third. We live up in big bear city now and I had asked my prior midwife if she knew anyone in my area- she didn't- so I took to Yelp. I found Tammy and decided to give a call and see- she gave me a ton of information to help me get my services paid through medical and IEHP etc- we are a low income family so her doing that made this possible for us with the pandemic having hit our business hard. After the first time I met Tammy and her daughter Brittany I knew right away they and all the ladies there were the team I wanted. She's straightforward and easy to talk to, and informative and her calm demeanor is a huge help for any pregnant momma. Throughout the pregnancy I was seen for all my visits, vitals taken and baby monitored etc. Had some minor bleeding around 29 weeks and Tammy advised me to get checked and luckily everything was fine.... Now this being my third and the whole losing the mucus plug at 29 weeks made me think my daughter wasn't gonna make it past 38 weeks- well she surprised us all and decided to go to 40+3. Around 40 weeks I was getting nervous since this was my third, things hadn't really fully started and I was starting to think something was wrong. Tammy put my mind at ease- assured me to trust baby and of course checked me etc everything was fine- she said I wouldn't have to worry about going to hospital til 42 weeks which eased my anxiety a ton (did NOT want a hospital birth- at all) I did have one false alarm where I had about 7 hours of contractions and dilated til 3.5 then stalled. My waters hadn't broken and no bloody show so she assured me it was ok. Well she was dang right! Right at 6pm I started having contractions let her know- started heading down the hill- labored the entire way in the truck down the mountain arrived at 8:03pm and gave birth to our beautiful baby girl right at 8:22pm! Tammy and the entire crew were so amazing during those 19 minutes- Tammy did some type of wizard massage on the back of my hips while I was pushing on hands and knees which caused my waters to break- baby crashed down into pelvis and came in like a freight train- she directed me to lay on my side and push/ flipped over and pushed and one of the wonderful ladies even held my right leg up for me (bless her heart) and boom- there was our daughter! There were at least four of them in the room hands on reassuring me I could do this! They were honestly just awesome! I'm pretty sure I pooped and no one said a word so I'm also thankful for that! All in all I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Tammy and the entire crew there. After my delivery I was helped to use the restroom and get all cleaned up and everything. We got home by like 3am and got to enjoy our bed and baby. Went back for the 2 day recheck and I was having a little bit of anxiety because my second had jaundice and she's autistic and her babyhoood was so so hard and traumatic for me so this baby had a tiny bit of jaundice too and I was kind of panicking about it (I am type 0 blood and live at 7000ft so Tammy had already told me to expect some) and when we got there she calmed me, asked about how many diapers etc and reassured me everything was just fine and I was doing a great job. She was also right about that- here we are at 4 days old jaundice completely gone and baby is pooping and peeing like a two week old! Thank you so so much to Tammy and Brittany and everyone there. I respect all of you so much for those long hours even while some of you are pregnant yourselves and have babies yourselves to take care of and here y'all are here taking such good care of us. Highly highly recommend this birth center- if I ever fell pregnant again this would definitely be without a doubt where I would go and I would recommend for anyone I care about. Also side note- I have another midwife experience to compare it to- i thought my prior midwife was "good" but now in hindsight and with this comparison I don't think many people realize just how amazing Tammy is. She didn't make me bring my own sheets long story that the previous birth center made me purchase my own birth kit and bring my own sheets, induced me with castor oil at 37 weeks, didn't help me with UV lights or suggesting lemon oil or anything much at all really. I have delivered both of my daughters with Tammy and Brittany at Birth Your Way, my first in the Yucaipa location in 2018 and my second in the Cherry Valley birth Center in November of this year 2024. Natural un-medicated Birth is the most empowering and spiritual experience I have ever had and I wouldn't trust anyone else with this process but Tammy Stokes and her team. When I arrived to the center after beginning labor at home, I was 7 centimeters dialted. The Birth center was warm and dimly lit, soft music playing, I felt comfortable and safe and welcome. I was able to get through the process and Tammy knows exactly what to do. I felt free to move about and work through the progression of my labor, My husband walked over to the bakery next door and got me a fresh croissant and a hot chocolate that I had between contractions lol. It's very different from a hospital setting and I would recommend it to any mom to be that wants to have a natural birth. Birth Your Way makes natural birth accessible to everyone, she accepts medi-cal which is a stark difference to other Birth centers who want thousands of dollars and don't accept insurance. She is a treasure to mothers and babies and her medical expertise, experience and intuition are truly under-rated. Tammy is warm and cheerful and exudes positive supportive energy at all times. She is a special special person and I thank God for her guidance and hard-work with the birth of my babies. I interviewed and delivered with other midwifes but Tammy is the only one who has reliably cared for me and my babies through each phase of my pregnancies and births. She delivered 2 of my babies when she was an assistant midwife with another birth center and then after an emergency c-section with another midwife I came to Birth Your Way to deliver my 2 vbac babies at the Yucaipa birth center. She is so knowledgeable and experienced but has a calming stability that gives me the confidence to make the choices needed to deliver the best way for me. I have so many great things to say about the Birth Your Way team. I'm a first time mom and I knew I wanted an out of hospital birth. I looked up many midwives/birthing centers near me. I found out Birth your Way took my insurance (IEHP) and I scheduled a tour to learn more. After that day, my husband and I knew we wanted to deliver our baby there. We didn't even tour or call any other places after that. Every appointment was very personal. Tammy never made it feel rushed, asked many questions and answered all my questions and more. It never felt like a doctor visit. If I had any doubts they were always replaced with confidence that Tammy made me feel. I was still doing concurrent care and we found out my baby had mosaic turner's syndrome via amniocentesis. Tammy was very supportive as we dealt with the news and continued to care for us and we were still able to deliver with her. Delivery day: I arrived at 9.5 cm at 1pm and thought my baby was ready to go, but my labor stalled and I didn't deliver until 9pm! I never felt rushed. Tammy helped me during labor so that I wouldn't tear. Brittany and another team member helped me push (with babies in their carriers). Even when I felt like I couldn't anymore, they helped me get through. After delivering my baby, I started to lose a lot of blood but Tammy and her team handled the situation and I trusted I was in good hands. My delivery was everything I wanted and more and I have their team to thank for that. I didn't talk much about my decision to do a natural birth outside of a hospital setting due to mainly the fact I didn't really want to hear everyone and their mom's opinion on it. Honestly, it was the hands down best choice I ever made. Many of my close friends and family know that I had a very traumatic hospital labor and delivery with Axel 4 years ago, so without going through all the details at the end of the day mentally I was terrified to go through it again. I decided to do a "home birth" at the birth center and from start to finish it was truly an amazing experience. Everyone at Birth Your Way in Yucaipa was amazing and went above and beyond to make me feel safe and relaxed the entire time. Tammy Stokes Kroll was seriously the best midwife I could have ever asked for. When it came to really mentally preparing I had the extra help of an amazing doula, Autumn McLees. My labor and delivery experience with Brixlee was so fast and almost an out of body experience. We showed up to the birth center at 1:45am and Brix was earth side at 2:36am and we were back in the comfort of our home by 5:30 am! Let me start by saying my first delivery of my son was so traumatic, I decided I didn't want anymore kids. After some time to heal and realize things could be different, I decided the only way to do it the way I wanted to was to find a midwife and a birthing center. My previous doctor threw out my birth plan, refused to let me do things how I wanted (wouldn't even try to embrace what I wanted or needed) and proceeded to yell at me for 45 minutes while I was in early stages of labor. I was induced and then overdosed on the epidural which put baby and myself in critical danger. Then when he was ready to come out (I couldn't feel anything) I was told to keep my legs closed until the doctor came. When he arrived he was angry and frustrated and did nothing to prevent my FOURTH DEGREE TEAR nor did he direct me how to push (again I couldn't feel anything) and watched tv in between pushes. It took him almost two hours to sew me back up. Fast forward to about 1.5 years ago when I started to search for a midwife. I interviewed with another midwife but she refused my insurance and to be quite honest, we didn't mesh well and I didn't like her demeanor. My beloved chiropractor turned me on to Tammy. From our first call, I was pretty much set on her. I started my search before I was even pregnant to make sure I found my perfect match. She always spoke with me in detail and was willing to work with my insurance. So, we decided to add another little one to our family. Boy did we make the right choice! Every single visit was completely different than any other doctor I've ever encountered. She blocks a solid hour for you and sit there and talk. Talk about everything including emotional trauma, childhood trauma, relationships, physical needs on top of educating you on things you didn't know before. She works WITH YOU. She's so intelligent and well versed in western medicine AND homeopathic remedies. She's not your average midwife. She takes your mental state into consideration as well as your spouse, children and other relationships in your life. She ALWAYS knew what I needed and what to say. She encouraged me to do things that I needed to do in my life to clear all the bad energy, trauma and fears I have from my horrific first pregnancy and delivery. I cried through probably the first 10 visits or more and she always knew how to help me and I always felt better after leaving her. She slowly built me back up and empowered me to do what my body is meant to do. Every visit we talked, laughed, cried, shared experiences and she always made sure to check my vital signs and fetal heartbeat to make sure everything was ok. Tammy is the most selfless person I know and we quickly bonded deeply. She became a mother to me. Something I needed so badly. She makes herself available to her clients 24/7. Not very many doctors can say that. The big show, the birth: My water slowly broke December 1 2018 and contractions started. I went in around 11 pm and was only 3 cm dilated. Feeling a little frustrated it was so early on, I went and walked and walked. Things stayed the same and I decided to try and lay down. 1:20 am rolls around and I feel things starting to get stronger. I did most of the labor in the tub and then when I transitioned, I got on the bed as it was more comfortable for me. I quickly transitioned and started to push. I still didn't really know what I was doing and Tammy quickly realized that and again, did EXACTLY what I needed.. she directed me how to push and where to focus my energy. About 5 really good pushes and my son was born! I asked Tammy to please include my husband as much as possible and to both of our surprises, she stepped aside and let my husband catch the baby. Her most prized, precious moment and she gave it up for my husband to experience it. That is priceless and makes me cry every time I think about it. Actually, every time I think about the beautiful experience she gave us, I cry. Her calm confidence is all I needed. She healed me and my husband from all the trauma and I will forever be grateful to her. I still can't believe I did it. I didn't tear at all and everything was the polar opposite of what I went through the first time. This baby is so calm and chill, sleeps through the night and breastfeeds like a champ. She is a two man band it's just her and her daughter no physician on board she is not medically knowledgeable of all body systems she is not a nurse she is simply a doula / midwife. She did not deliver my baby due to complications that made me go to hosp instead although she kept all my money which I paid for delivery of my baby fee and was told I would be fully refunded if she wasn't able to deliver my baby and no supplies were ordered for the delivery. She even came out with tis EXTRA fee for the office visits and charged my insurance wrongfully. This lady is completely fraudulent. She would not assess vital signs during prenatal visits, which could've been dangerous if my BP was super high and I needed hosp attn she would not have known. Britney has always been such an awesome person for me to talk to so having her there made me feel safe. My first birth, in my opinion, was hard, the recovery was even worse. I was so scared to have another baby but I knew my family wasn't complete just yet. When I told Tammy my fears she always made me feel better and would have me pumped up at every appointment. Then, I would go home and my head would fill with doubts. Back at my next appointment, Tammy always knew just what to say to help me gain confidence. She knew I could do it, she knew I was capable and that my body would do what it needed. She made me brave. I could never thank her enough for always being there for me. I'm very sad to write this review cause I love tammy. But I've contemplated this for a long time. I'm now 6 months pp with my first baby. I came to tammy because I wanted a natural experience with no needles or interventions. I hate needles. I also came to her cause I didn't have any insurance and it was a great option. I could do what I wanted during labor. I could birth in the tub. My husband could catch our baby boy! I looked forward to the day I'd go into labor and birth our son. Something that was not in her control however, was that I went over 42 weeks. She had mentioned on our first visit she can't deliver before 37 weeks nor after 42 weeks. What I had wish I had known, was I did not need to be induced, medically, until I was officially 42 + 6 per acog. (This was found out after the birth) Had I known I was going into the hospital anyway I would not have gone in until I was in active labor. As soon as I hit 42 weeks she told us I needed to go into the hospital for an induction. So as a first time mom I had done just that. I didn't think anything of it. I put my complete trust that tammy would guide us through this new experience. I was induced for almost 2 days and "stalled" at 5 cm. This whole time I had not moved. I stayed in the bed with pitocin and cytotec(?) being given to me. I had 2 balloons and my membranes swept many times. I had the awful castor oil. I walked miles etc to get this baby out before hand. Anyway, I did not move from my bed because I honestly thought that because I had a monitor on and the iv I had to stay put. Tammy was with us for a few hours during the induction but that is kind of hazzy. I wish someone would have told me to get up! Get up and move into positions to encourage dilation. I wish someone said I didn't need to stay in bed! I was a new mom who didn't know how any of this worked. Once tammy was gone and I was left to the doctors they recommended a csection because of "failure to progress" (in my mind I thought I had 3 days but they gave me hardly 2) I was reluctant. I hate hate hate needles I get extreme anxiety with anything that isn't natural at all. Sure enough my husband asked tammy and she agreed with the doctor. Again I went with her suggestions cause I trusted her. So I ended up in the OR. I remember as they made the initial cut that I felt the burn of it. It was so bad I screamed and they ended up putting me out. Once I delivered my son I remember not registering anything at all. I didn't have any feelings for my son the first couple of days. This made me pretty upset. I wanted the feeling of the bond. He was delivered without his father there and his mom not there either and it makes me sad knowing he was alone. I'm pretty sure I'm still dealing with this now. I'm in groups for vbac so I can hopefully in the future have a natural home birth. I know what I can handle and what I can't. I now know some people can hold their babies in for a lot longer than 42 weeks and I plan to do just that. I will no longer consent cervical checks either. In the end my review is based on the fact that I didn't feel like I was given proper guidance. Again, tammy is wonderful as a person and a great friend and can make you feel at ease. But I wish I had someone to tell me what I was doing in hospital wouldn't yield any results. I felt like I was given up on. read more

Where do I begin... I have so many wonderful things to say about Tammy. In 2009 she delivered my first son. I knew when I got pregnant with him that I didn't want to deliver in a hospital. I was referred to a birth center in Redlands (which has now closed) and met Tammy there. We fell in love with her instantly. She spent so much time with us answering all questions and making sure we felt at ease. Every prenatal visit she measured , checked vitals , weight, and spent time making us comfortable. During labor and delivery let me labor by walking around, sitting in the tub , or doing what ever felt right to me. She respected my decision to not be internally checked. She delivered my healthy 7.4 lb baby boy 2/19/09,( and made sure I didn't tear in the process. ) Fast forward 5 years, I was pregnant again. She was the second person I told. Again, she was there for me emotionally and physically. All my prenatal appointments I felt taken care of and secure. She has such a calming way About her. Any question or insecurity was addressed with professionalism and sincerity. July 19, 2014 Tammy delivered my second son at my home. I labored in my living room. I called her to let her know I was in labor. She arrived, and 3 hours later she delivered my healthy 6.3lb son. Everything was perfect. Tammy is the only person I trust to deliver my babies. She has vast In knowledge in midwifery. She's compassionate and empathetic. She's has a beautiful soul. If I decide to have another baby she will be my midwife. I met Tammy July of 2019 literally half way through my pregnancy just distraught due to the treatment I was receiving from a OB. I had asked the OB "Since I'm due close to Christmas will you be their to deliver my son" he response was " I don't know my schedule for next week laughed & proceeded..." on the way home I was concerned being a first time mother knowing I couldn't rely on the provider I chose. I did so much research tried and tried to find a midwife who could take me all was to Busy or Just never called me back. I contacted Birth your way and behold it was answer. I was booked for a next week appointment & literally fell in love with the service. I won't lie I was so scared of having a natural birth ! No option of pain meds I knew this would be my greatest accomplishment if achieved. Throughout the months ahead Tammy prepared me Mentally & Emotionally. At the OB I was a number, tested on extensively & invasively but never heard. No one ever asked "Are you okay" "How are you feeling" "How are you and your partner getting along" which are things that I desired to be heard & actually listened to. Absolutely amazing prenatal care and birthing experience. Tammy delivered my baby boy on 4/8/17 @ 5:06 am. With my 2nd pregnancy I knew I wanted an out of hospital birth... I was set up with two midwives before I met tammy. The first 2 were just not a good fit for me and I didn't trust them. From the minute I heard tammy's voice I knew she was the one. She is so positive and glows with a beautiful energy. She never made me doubt myself or use scare tactics for explaining anything. Tammy referred me to a wonderful chiropractor, pediatrician, and her in house massage therapist Brittany. Getting prenatal massages from Britanny helped me with my pregnancy and allowed me to get close with her. When I was in labor Brittany came to the rescue at my breaking point. They gave my husband and I space to just go through the labor process, always checked in. What a nice experience I had here. I had my fifth baby here on 1-11-17. I wanted to do it natural for the first time. Tammy helped me accomplish that! When I found out I was having my 4th child, I knew I wanted to have him naturally. I was denied this possibility with my first 3 kids in a hospital. Immediately, I was impressed with the Birth Your Way center...specifically Tammy! She is warm, sweet, friendly, and very knowledgeable. This pregnancy was difficult for me, but Tammy was there any time I had a question. Her visits are not a normal doctors visit! She sits and learns about you, asks you questions, and after 9 months...becomes a very good friend! Another powerful testimony to Tammy's skills and ability is that my husband was not happy I chose this method for this pregnancy. He was the biggest skeptic! Delivery day: everything progressed just fine, Tammy and her birth team is there to guide and direct you to have your best experience! Had an amazing experience at birth your way birth center. I had an amazing water birth and delivered my daughter on 9/11/15. Tammy was my midwife. She is so amazing. She eased my worries and made me feel like family. I didn't feel rushed or uncomfortable. I loved the home feel. I hate hospitals so it was an easy decision for me to decide to go to birth your way. With Tammy you are not just a client or her patient, you become a friend and part of her family. I'm expecting my first child in July of 2014, and I'm so happy I chose Tammy as my midwife with the Birth Your Way Birthing Center. I met her in November of 2013 for an interview, and she sat with me and my husband for 2 hours to answer all our questions! She worked really hard with my Insurence for them to accept the birth center as 'in network' so I could have the birth experience I wanted. Every prenatal visit I have, she talks With me, asks questions, answers my questions, gives me information and never pushes an opinion on me or rushes me into making a decision...she genuinely cares for her patients and she shows it! Tammy is always a phone call or text away, even if Its 2am, she's available! Her partner Maria is great too! Both of the midwives care so much and want you to have the birth you want! I first found Tammy and the Birth Your Way Birth Center while living in Canada. When I found out we would be moving back to California I immediately started researching midwives because I wanted a natural child birth experience. I knew immediately I had found the right place the moment I spoke to Tammy on the phone. She was so knowledgeable and informative. And you could tell she was truly passionate about her profession. My feelings were further confirmed after visiting the Birth Center. I felt instantly at home. The perfect environment to bring a baby into the world. Tammy spent so much time with us during our prenatal appointments and was always available by phone or text for any questions. She really built a relationship with us and took the time to get to know us as a couple and a family. I went into labor a day before the 42 week mark. At the birth center, I felt like I was in such good hands. Tammy and Jeanine were the best cheerleaders. I felt so safe and felt so much love. They helped me and my husband every step of the way and provided me all the support I needed. I was so appreciative of the care during such an intense time. Because I was 42 weeks and the baby wasn't progressing down the birth canal, I had to be transferred to the hospital. But Tammy made the transfer process easy and took care of us so we didn't have any stress. She also assisted us at the hospital which put my mind at ease since she is the one we came to know and trust. I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and the whole experience was amazing! I don't know if I posted on here already but if i did, I'll do it again because I love this place and these people so darn much. I found Tammy a few months before I got married because I knew my husband and I would probably get pregnant soon after. We Immediately connected and I knew I not only found my midwife, but also a true friend. The birth center was so warm and inviting, it felt like home! (I birthed at the old location but I can't wait to birth at the new location!) In August of 2014 I found out I was pregnant! Unfortunately, I misscarried a few days later. Tammy was right there to support me and help me through the greiving process. Surprisingly I was pregnant 1 month later. Tammy was always there for me to answer my questions and calm my fears. When Labor Day came (5-13-15), it was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. My baby was stuck for quite awhile. Tammy was right by my side helping me through my contractions and reminding me to breathe. Although it wasn't the birth I imagined, it was still beautiful. Tammy kept me in control of my body and when I lost control she brought me right back. And her assistants were amazing as well. Brittany's massages were from heaven and Jeannine's support was much needed. What I love most about this place is the genuine relationships I have with all of these AMAZING women.
