For example, she came prepped with a hot pack and she pushed it against my back when I was having hard contractions (which helped so much) without me having to ask or say anything. She just knew it would feel better. Kristin supported me getting an epidural and never judged or pushed any beliefs on me. She checked in on me throughout my pregnancy but was never bothersome and took away my anxiety rather than added to it. Kristin gave me reassurance when I was overdue and sure enough my baby came out four days late with not even 20 mins of pushing. It was amazing! Monica did not disappoint. She was amazing and she lessened my postpartum anxiety and helped eased my family's transition from a family of three to a family of four. During the in-home meeting, she listened carefully to mine and my partner's concerns and worked with us on the hours and days we wanted her to provide postpartum doula services. When she was working with us, she would anticipate what we needed or wanted - such as helping with picking up, sweeping, dishes, and taking out the trash - without us asking. Primarily, I needed assistance with my older child (2yrs old), such as watching her so I can get some sleep, take a shower, or just have a break. She was amazing at both watching my child and helping out around the house. Monica also provided some knowledge on diastasis recti, different holds for the baby when she has gas, and how to wear baby carriers/wraps. At the end of each session, she checked in with me about whether all mine and my family's needs were met and how she could better assist us for the next session. As a third time mom- having has two prior natural births one at Cedars Sinai (1st) and one at a…read morebirth center in Santa Clarita (2nd) I knew I wanted to do a birth center for my third. We live up in big bear city now and I had asked my prior midwife if she knew anyone in my area- she didn't- so I took to Yelp. I found Tammy and decided to give a call and see- she gave me a ton of information to help me get my services paid through medical and IEHP etc- we are a low income family so her doing that made this possible for us with the pandemic having hit our business hard. After the first time I met Tammy and her daughter Brittany I knew right away they and all the ladies there were the team I wanted. She's straightforward and easy to talk to, and informative and her calm demeanor is a huge help for any pregnant momma. Throughout the pregnancy I was seen for all my visits, vitals taken and baby monitored etc. Had some minor bleeding around 29 weeks and Tammy advised me to get checked and luckily everything was fine.... Now this being my third and the whole losing the mucus plug at 29 weeks made me think my daughter wasn't gonna make it past 38 weeks- well she surprised us all and decided to go to 40+3. Around 40 weeks I was getting nervous since this was my third, things hadn't really fully started and I was starting to think something was wrong. Tammy put my mind at ease- assured me to trust baby and of course checked me etc everything was fine- she said I wouldn't have to worry about going to hospital til 42 weeks which eased my anxiety a ton (did NOT want a hospital birth- at all) I did have one false alarm where I had about 7 hours of contractions and dilated til 3.5 then stalled. My waters hadn't broken and no bloody show so she assured me it was ok. Well she was dang right! Right at 6pm I started having contractions let her know- started heading down the hill- labored the entire way in the truck down the mountain arrived at 8:03pm and gave birth to our beautiful baby girl right at 8:22pm! Tammy and the entire crew were so amazing during those 19 minutes- Tammy did some type of wizard massage on the back of my hips while I was pushing on hands and knees which caused my waters to break- baby crashed down into pelvis and came in like a freight train- she directed me to lay on my side and push/ flipped over and pushed and one of the wonderful ladies even held my right leg up for me (bless her heart) and boom- there was our daughter! There were at least four of them in the room hands on reassuring me I could do this! They were honestly just awesome! I'm pretty sure I pooped and no one said a word so I'm also thankful for that! All in all I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Tammy and the entire crew there. After my delivery I was helped to use the restroom and get all cleaned up and everything. We got home by like 3am and got to enjoy our bed and baby. Went back for the 2 day recheck and I was having a little bit of anxiety because my second had jaundice and she's autistic and her babyhoood was so so hard and traumatic for me so this baby had a tiny bit of jaundice too and I was kind of panicking about it (I am type 0 blood and live at 7000ft so Tammy had already told me to expect some) and when we got there she calmed me, asked about how many diapers etc and reassured me everything was just fine and I was doing a great job. She was also right about that- here we are at 4 days old jaundice completely gone and baby is pooping and peeing like a two week old! Thank you so so much to Tammy and Brittany and everyone there. I respect all of you so much for those long hours even while some of you are pregnant yourselves and have babies yourselves to take care of and here y'all are here taking such good care of us. Highly highly recommend this birth center- if I ever fell pregnant again this would definitely be without a doubt where I would go and I would recommend for anyone I care about. Also side note- I have another midwife experience to compare it to- i thought my prior midwife was "good" but now in hindsight and with this comparison I don't think many people realize just how amazing Tammy is. She didn't make me bring my own sheets long story that the previous birth center made me purchase my own birth kit and bring my own sheets, induced me with castor oil at 37 weeks, didn't help me with UV lights or suggesting lemon oil or anything much at all really. The polarity between the two is rather vast.

She came with us to the hospital and was right by my side as I delivered my son. She checked in every couple days to see how I was doing while waiting for labor to begin. I went into labor at 2:30 AM and texted her at 2:50 AM to let her know and was at my house by 3:30am. She helped me through the contractions by giving counter pressure on my hips (a serious godsend) and massaging my back. She also made sure I was eating and drinking enough throughout the day. My labor stalled a couple times throughout the day so she suggested things to help get it going again (I.e. Walks, changing positions, pressure points). At 5:50pm we arrived at the birth center and she continued to support me through contractions. My midwife swept my membranes and went for a walk. My water broke during the walk and she helped me back to the birth center where I felt a TON of pressure. She alerted the midwife that I must be getting close. During the time I was pushing she was telling how much of the baby she could see and getting me cold washcloths as well as saying encouraging words to me when I felt I could not continue. My healthy baby girl was born at 7:20 pm weighing in at 8.3 pounds. Alyssa was with me for 16 hours during my labor and birth, and stayed an additional 2 hours after to make sure we were settled before we left to return home. I honestly do not think I would have been able to have my unmedicated birth without her constant attention and support through my labor. Having her attend my birth was invaluable and I will be definitely have her attend my next birth!

I took Lisa's hypnobirthing class before the birth of my second baby. I was hesitant to take the…read moreclass because of a traumatic birth with my first baby which was supposed to be natural, but ended up with so many medical interventions, and was skeptical of being able to do a natural birth given my previous experience. However, Lisa was very kind and understanding of my situation, explaining that my first experience was filled with special circumstances and assured me that none of that would happen again. She educated me and my husband with all our options for our hospital birth and giving me a new hope and courage that I would be able to give birth naturally. This past week I had a scare that I had a rupture of membranes and did not go into labor (the same thing that started my first traumatic birth experience) and I reached out to her through text. She gave me lots of advice, reminded me to stay calm, and suggested some natural induction methods which worked. We also benefited from using the acupressure pain relieving techniques we learned from Lisa during labor. I started getting strong contractions at midnight, got to the hospital at 2:30am, and had my baby girl in my arms by 3:37am. She was a whopping 9lb3oz and I was able to push her out with no epidural and no tearing!! It was an amazing experience and I'm so happy to have had Lisa's help and advice throughout the way.
