This place was horrible to my mom's dog. She is an elderly woman and they took complete advantage of her. She brought the dog in there to get trained and he got into something at the facility which made him deathly ill. She had to pay over $4000 in vet bills to get him healthy only to have to rehome him afterwards because he received absolutely zero training. In addition, they would not refund one dime of the money that she paid. Between the cost of the dog, the fraudulent attempt to train him and the vet bills she was out almost $10,000 did not bring your dog here. These people are crooks. read more

Cooper just finished his two week board and train with Taming the Wild. Coop is every bit the 1 year old Vizsla. He is sweet and lovable and goofy and a Velcro pup. I'm also fairly certain he could hop up tomorrow and run a full 26 mile marathon and not be the slightest bit fatigued at the end. That energy is a lot to handle! My schedule as a pediatric resident doesn't allow for a whole ton of free time and training him felt like an overwhelming mountain of a task. Watching Joshua demonstrate what Cooper learned at our turnover session left me speechless... as did watching how seamlessly he also took direction from me. What was an overwhelming and frustrating task now feels a lot more manageable. Coop still has a lot to learn! But now he has a meaningful foundation where I feel like working with him for 20-30 minutes at the time can make meaningful progress. Not to mention the fact I have a team of resources at my disposal to help in conquering the rest of the hurdles. Whether that is a short call, text, or attending a free refresher course for the indefinite future. And I was given the education while he was away to know how to achieve the results. In two short weeks, he will walk on a leash without pulling. He will remain in a position he is told to stay (even if you're tugging his leash attempting to make him move). He will go to his "place" and stay there while I do chores, study, work, cook, or clean at home. Then I can enjoy having him around instead of wanting to pull my hair out!! We bought our puppy and mature dog here for one-on-one training. We worked with Ashley and saw immediate changes. When we arrived for lesson one, she sat us down with a whiteboard so we could list the issues we were having. We worked through them all and had strategies to work on until our second lesson the following week. The puppy stopped jumping (we are working on greeting still), the older dog got a new collar and he stopped pulling completely, and our older dog learned to "place" and not go crazy when someone comes into the house. Wish I read some of the reviews on hear before buying the 14 day challenge. Too much talk, not enough action. When there is action, it's a total dominance thing - and getting the dog into submission - no relationship building. Our domesticated dogs have come a long way from the wolves of the past that he talks on and on about. Just saying "use a prong collar" made me cringe. I love this place! My 2 golden retrievers went through obedience training when each of them were 4 months old and still so easy to handle. I've had to board them at TTW for 10 days and I loved the care they received and they even got refresher training while they were there. I had to board them because I had to have surgery and the office staff keep me posted on how they were doing along with sending me pictures. I can't say enough good things about TTW! My dogs will be 2 years old this coming Friday and they are always getting praise for how well behaved they are yet will being energetic dogs! read more

We paid a very expensive fee to get our dog "trained" for 2 weeks and he came back the same. We are expected to use a 15 foot leash in our house which is not accommodating for our small living room arrangement to keep our dog under control. During the training demonstration our dog had to be yanked numerous times to get him to obey. When we return home, he would not place, continued to bite our hands, would not come when called (which I was later told they don't train your dog to do that) and will not obey for long on a leash outside. We cannot enjoy our dog and when we called we were told to bring the dog in on Saturday's for a "refresher course". For the amount of money we spent, our dog should definitely obey simple commands but he does not and it's not for our lack of trying. He wasn't trained properly. Now we have a shock collar on him - a golden retriever has a shock collar - which this place said was "perfectly fine" to use to get him to obey. Does that sound like he's trained? Extremely disappointed and won't be recommending for training. Do not waste your money or your dog's energy here. read more

We just finished the Puppy Prep School and Phase 1 training with Lynn and learned so much! She was friendly, professional and wonderful with us and our Boxer puppy. We feel confident and educated on everything she taught us and our pup. While at Phase 1, our dog learned some practical and useful skills that will help us at home. The trainers even took into consideration the fact that we have a little child and another on the way and practiced with our dog and a stroller! The kennel staff, management, and trainers were all very friendly and helpful! They went the extra mile to care for our pup while she was being boarded for her training! My dog went to the two week bootcamp course when we were first moving to Memphis. I had been told wonderful things about Taming the Wild and how they are the best dog trainers in Memphis. I picked my dog up and they demonstrated what she had learned to me. Apparently "learning" involves having a slip-knot collar tied around your neck and yanking on it at various strengths to get the desired behavior. Essentially-- choke your dog into submission. She also contracted bronchitis during her stay of which i was assured was just allergies. My dog was very skittish upon returning home and required hundreds of dollars of medical attention. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. I regret taking my dog there. read more

I could not be happier that we found Taming the Wild. The staff is awesome and genuinely care about the dogs. We talked about the needs and my concerns about my pup, they listened and helped ease my mind and gave advice/guidance. The training staff was so great and understanding as well. This was my Boston terrier's (Molly) go-to day care center when we lived in Memphis. She got turned down from another one right around the corner because she was too aggressive with the small dogs, and they wouldn't let her play with the big guys! She is a Boston terrier after all. We took our 2 year old, somewhat out-of-control rescue Dalmatian to Taming the Wild just a couple of weeks after we got him for 3 private lessons with Jacob. After only about 20 minutes, he was responding almost perfectly to walking on a leash (he had never had any experience with a leash prior since he grew up on an 80 acre farm!) Jacob was amazing and knew exactly how to handle him and most importantly, taught US how to handle him! I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Taming the Wild and with Jacob. We also sent him to daycare one day to see how he would get along with the other dogs and he obviously had a great time, he came home happy and tired. My 3 year old Wire Fox Terrier Rudy had become overly-anxious and dog aggressive to the point that I dreaded outdoor walks and was close to re-homing him. I absolutely love this dog and could not bear parting with him. Bryan showed me how to train him using an e-collar that does not hurt him, but gives him a tingle that my husband can't even feel! The dog has quickly learned to stay, sit and come. Our meals are now peaceful since he has learned "stay". When he goes missing, I just say "come" and he obeys! Now I look forward to our walks and when we encounter other dogs, I have him sit. He no longer lunges and gnashes his teeth at them. What a different dog he has become! Back in November I was dissatisfied with the care my puppy received at daycare (her first visit around other dogs) and wrote a review after the " manager" come to find out later from Bryan was not the manager, refused a refund. Bryan quickly called after I wrote the review a month later, and offered to compensate me through a refund or training. I asked to think about it, he said of course and reassuringly gave me his private number and said the employee issue would be resolved immediately that I had the issue with. We always have a great experience with TTW! It is our dogs' home away from home. They love going to daycare, and they come home tired but happy.
