They were on the high side of BYOBs before and their food prices went up. Together with the cost of the previously free Margaritas, they more than doubled. I haven't been here in a little while and I am so glad it popped in my mind while I was over this way. The food was even better than I remembered! The potato croquette was delicious and craveable. I had the de carne tacos and the corn tortillas were flavorful and didn't fall apart. My friend had the branzino special and she kept commenting on how well it was cooked and seasoned for a dish that can go over quickly. The servers were attentive without being over bearing. We came here on a Saturday evening with some friends per their recommendation. We had an amazing meal and amazing experience. We were seated right away. Our waiter was high energy and awesome. In fact, all of the people working that night seemed happy and super friendly. He rattled off the specials, poured everyone some free margaritas, and zoomed off and around as he did the entire night. His fun and endless energy made our night even better. I didn't have a margarita myself, but my girlfriend said it packed a punch more than expected for a free one. We ordered the nachos and calamari to start. Both were delicious, but the real test is always the calamari. The squid was tender and not chewy - perfectly cooked. It came with both a red and green sauce. I preferred the green - tangy and perfectly paired with the calamari. I ordered the shiitake salad which was just a basic salad with spinach, mushrooms, avocado, tomatoes, and crispy tortilla strips. What made the salad was the added shrimp. Nicely seasoned and wonderfully tender. I could eat those time and time again. In terms of COVID precautions, the tables were nicely spread out and there was outdoor dining available. Sitting in the outdoor space is very nice. We loved the guacamole and pico de gallo but not so much our meal - whole fish, short ribs and watermelon salad. The salad wasn't a salad. It was some so-so watermelon with a little cheese grated. Not appealing. The fish was supposed to be a white wine, garlic sauce. It was more like chopped and sautéed garlic sitting atop the fish. Not at all what I thought of as a white wine and garlic sauce. Also the fish was battered and fried. The ribs were not very tasty. The last time I ate here was a few years ago but if they haven't changed much then I would highly recommend this place. Food was authentic and the owners didn't have a liquid license so they gave u drinks that they didn't charge u for from a big jug. I really love this place and have always had a great meal here. We started off with soup, and I had the Mole Pollo. Chicken so tender and moist and the black beans definitely one of my favorites. My husband had the shrimp fajitas. No leftovers tonight. We were hoping for a leisurely dinner but our entree came when we were half way through the soup. They can't could see I was disappointed but that's it. Of course the margaritas kept us all happy but very disappointed in the service. I'll be back but will not order entree till appetizer done. The greater Chestnut Hill area is not a hotbed for good Mexican food but one of the best is this contemporary Yucatan Restaurante. It is located right on the Bethlehem Pike in Flourtown in an old stone building with a newer addition. It looks really pretty inside - the art on the walls all comes from the Yucatan Peninsula. What I like best to eat so far here is the Molcajete de Pollo and this dish is the main reason I am rounding up to five stars. It comes sizzling to the table in the traditional Molcajete bowl accompanied by rice, tortillas, and Salsa Roja y Verde. With a molcajete dish, I love to first make and eat my rolled tortillas sandwiches and then when they are finished dine on the remaining juicy chicken & rice directly from the bowl. However you choose to eat it, I don't think you will be disappointed. The service is very friendly and attentive. Tip - In warmer weather, there is a very attractive back patio to eat al fresco. read more

Prior to the Pandemic, we dined at Tamarindo's a few times and always enjoyed the well-prepared food, outdoor atmosphere, and great service. The take-out food we received tonight was just... bizarre. What struck me most was the complete and total lack of seasoning. On anything. It was like hospital food someone with a heart condition or high blood pressure would be fed. Or like the completely seasonless plate of food made for a child, like a bit of chicken plucked from the pot before the "adult" version is made with tasty ingredients. The fried fish wasn't even salted. Likewise, the chicken had n o t h i n g on it. Not even salt and pepper let alone, acid, heat, herbs, spices? It was plain chicken and difficult to decipher how it was cooked. Beans and rice, plain. The box included 3 salsas, chopped onions/ cilantro, lime wedges and tortillas. I would not be surprised if this made sense to other people and such people would find probably find the bundle plentiful and good. However, It's very weird to me to serve a protein in that way, and anticipate that salsas are enough to flavor or hold a dish together. I won't write Tamarindo's off yet. They truly were one of the few places I enjoyed. I hope when the world returns to normal, so does Tamarindo's. read more

Ill be honest in saying that I struggled with deciding on 2 stars or 3 stars. I went there with a group early on New Years Eve. The positives for me were that the service was good enough, the guitar player, and the free margaritas (even though many in my group thought they were too sour). Consider this a warning...if you don't want a surprise charge on your bill, reject the chips and salsa. Its not a small charge either. Many of the items I saw didn't look like they lived up to the hefty price tag. I ordered the steak and chicken fajitas. One of the best parts of ordering fajitas is that they come out sizzling on a skillet. Well....they came out room temperature on a regular plate. At least the 3 small tortillas they gave me were enough. It was a fun night solely because of the group I was with. Id give this place another shot if El Sarape, El Limon, or Tex Mex all happen to shut down for some reason. read more

If i could give less than one star I would. My family and I came in in a sunny Sunday evening about 5:45. We sat inside and were served water. We were told that someone would be with us soon. The man designated to serve us walked by no less then 3 time before telling us he would be back in a moment. He then ducked back behind the wall again, came out said hello to another group, looked out side, walked back behind the wall again, he did this a total of 5 times while we were there. After not being served for 15 minutes we got up to leave. He asked if everything was ok. We said we can't know because we can't get service. We have a choice. Came in for a double date on a Saturday night. The restaurant was pretty crowded, but the service was fast and the food was excellent! The free margaritas definitely don't hurt, either! One gripe is that they don't accept reservations for parties under 6 people, which isn't very accommodating. The parking lot also has limited spots, so make sure you give yourself a little extra time on the weekends, in case you have to wait for a spot like we did. The ambiance makes you feel like you're in Mexico, which I loved! read more
