My husband and I came here last night before going to Movie Tavern. I really like how open and spacious the inside of the restaurant is. This is perfect if you're going on a date night or a group of friends. Our server was really friendly and when I asked her what she recommended she was very knowledgeable and offered many suggestions. I tried the steak enchiladas for the first time and felt so stuffed upon leaving. The mote sauce was great with the enchilada. This is the 4th El Limon location I've visited and this has to be one of my favorites. Very fair pricing, decent portion sizes. You won't leave hungry.

We have eaten at this El Limon location a few times, usually through delivery. Tonight we ordered through Grubhub and there was a hair stuck inside one of the chips. When I saw it I tried to just get rid of it but the hair was cooked into the chip. I don't know if they make homemade tortillas or not (doesn't really matter) but someone was obviously not wearing a covering for their hair in the kitchen! I got the chicken enchiladas and had only eaten one of them when I found the hair. I tried to keep eating but I just couldn't. My dinner ended up in the garbage can. I would like to tell El Limon that they need to make sure their employees are covering their hair! It will be a long time before I can eat here again.

This was one of the empanadas from tonight... notice it is mostly dough...

Usually I love this place and have been to their Flourtown and Ambler locations many times. Tonight was the first time i have ordered from them in a few months and I was extremely disappointed!! I ordered barbacoa tacos that were basically inedible! They had a clump of fat with a few pieces of meat attached to it! Gross! It was that last bit when you are pulling beef or pork that is usually the piece that is trashed , well that was what was in my tacos tonight. Hopefully this was an accident because this has never happened before. I also ordered beef empanadas which i have ordered many times before and have had no issues with .. tonight they were very doughy and had just ground beef in them. ( no seasoning and no cheese!) My son had the Tinga tacos and he said they were ok but it seemed like the meat was microwaved because it was all stuck together. My husband had the barbacoa burrito and had the opposite problem i had saying that he had barely any meat in his burrito but if he had ordered a rice burrito then it would have been great because it was mostly rice. I am really hoping that tonight was just an off night because if this is their new norm then they have lost me as a customer!

LARGE RICE AND LARGE BEANS! 2 tablespoons each.

I ordered a LARGE rice and a LARGE bean via Grubhub and this is what was received. Grubhub gave me the money back for these items but there's no way I'd order anything from these thieves ever again. Thank god I ordered through Grubhub bc it sounds like I wouldn't have gotten my money back otherwise. If you can't tell, these are CONDIMENT cups of rice and beans. Literally TWO RAGGEDY TABLESPOONS of product in each. The chips were stale, the salad was soggy. Just go on and keep searching for another place to order food from.

As some reviews have mentioned, CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU PAY!!! They do not give you an itemized receipt after you pay. We came here on a Sunday afternoon for some to go tacos. My husband had went in to order 5 tacos, a side of beans and a side of rice. Of course, he never checks his receipt and somehow our bill came out to $28. After waiting for a bit for the tacos, we got our food. I was so confused why our bill was so much since the beans and rice were bite sizes. It turns out, they had added two veggie tacos to our order which we did not want/order. They also charged us extra ($1) each time that we DID NOT want cheese or sour cream. The food was okay. We had steak, carnitas and veggie tacos. The steak was flavorless, do not recommend. The carnitas was actually pretty good and full of flavor. What surprised me the most was the veggie tacos, these are actually AMAZING!! (Yes the ones that we didn't order). The rice and beans were okay but like I mentioned, probably two bites and you're done. I had tried the El Limon in Conshohocken and it was way better than this one. Overall, I like this chain and will be returning to another location.

Fish taco- I had to remove the fish.. it was bad.

I really like el lemon... the other locations are great. I ordered from this location for the first time and I was not that impressed. The fish tacos are bad.. they use very low quality fish. Will not order from this particular location.

Picture of my burrito sent to the owner because I needed to show proof that there was cilantro on it.

We ordered a dry veggie burrito, no cilantro. Not a difficult order. When we got it, there was cilantro in it (in the guacamole). We called to get a new burrito, and the woman I spoke with requested pictures of my burrito. Pictures?! Wow. The woman I spoke with was extremely rude and unaccommodating. She said she believed me, but the pictures were for the kitchen staff. Kitchen staff doesn't give a rat's ass what the patron gets. Just give me the correct burrito order! Or a refund! It could have been so simple. Instead, they lost a loyal customer. To note: I did send her the picture she wanted of the cilantro. The first picture wasn't good enough for her, it had to be "the whole burrito". So strange. And also, they are getting at least 1 star because after all of that I did (luckily) get a refund at least.

It was a nice night to be south side. The tables had umbrellas and could accommodate both large and small groups. The staff were very nice and efficient. The food was very good! It was perfect for me because you could pick how many tacos, tostadas or sopes you wanted. I had a steak tostado, a chicken sopes and a pork sopes. The meat was tender. The sopes were made well with lots of corn flavor. All were delicious and filling. I had to take one home. The best part is a complimentary Margarita! It was very good!

I ordered the shrimp tacos which came with rice and beans and then a separate order of beef tacos with a small size of rice and beans. The side of rice and beans were truly disappointing. It came in two sizes (side and large). The side was a very small size (reminiscent of a small ramekin that you would use for dipping sauces) in comparison to what I have seen at other Mexican restaurants. My partner was disappointed but he made do with what he was given. We both enjoyed the tacos but perhaps we will give the larger sides a try next time.

Drink Tip: The house margarita and top shelf margarita are pre-made and tbh they both gave me a pain throbbing headache (on two different instances). HOWEVER the other cocktails are tasty and did not give me a headache, I enjoy the cocktails most with mezcal as the smoky tequila gives certain drinks a nice kick with a smoky undertone. Food Favorites: Guacamole, Steak & Shrimp Fajitas Service: The service here is chill, they'll always ask if you have a reservation, you don't need one BUT if it's after 5 you'll be better off with a reservation. Parking: There is on street parking but if it's in the evening hope for the best.

The place was PACKED wall to wall because of the holiday. The wait was about an hour, so we decided to order food to go instead. I ordered a strawberry mango margarita from the bar, and honestly, I've never had a margarita taste like a tequila sunrise before. It was thick and just not good. Jesse made it, and when I mentioned it didn't taste like a margarita, Chyna (not sure of the spelling) attempted to remake it. The second one was slightly better, but still not what I'd expect from a margarita at a Mexican restaurant. We ordered the 4 taco platter (about $21). You can only choose two of the same taco type. We tried the short rib, chicken, and pork tacos along with the street corn. The tacos were okay maybe a 5/10. They fell apart. The black beans and rice were actually good. The street corn, however, lacked flavor and didn't really resemble traditional street corn. Barely any cheese or seasoning. Even the lime served with the tacos was so dry we couldn't get juice out of it. Overall, maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed because of Cinco de Mayo, so the food just didn't have that extra care behind them. First impressions matter, and this one unfortunately missed the mark for us. On the positive side, the space is large inside, they have a nice patio/garden seating area outdoors, and reservations are available. We might go back and try taco Tuesday.

Final Thoughts - Overall, a really solid spot with great service and a fun atmosphere. While a couple of items were slightly on the dry side, most of the food was very enjoyable. I would definitely come back for another visit.
