Pad thai with chicken
Claudia M.

Very good food. Will definitely be coming back. Service was great and fast. We got the pineapple fried rice and pad thai they were soo good. We got the chicken satay we ate all of it didn't get a chance to take a picture it was that good

Reception

Checked out Tamarind Thai after I heard about it from a coworker. Small place and when we stepped got this strong sauce smell.place looked little outdated but maybe purposefully. Small place though and tables are little closer and few. Service was fast. Food came within few minutes. Lunch specials had usuals a small salad, roll, and entree. Just a right amount but slightly expensive for the quantity. Taste for normal wouldn't say the best Thai but at same time nothing bad about it. Right amount of spiciness. Would probably go back for a change once in a while. Would give 3.5 stars.

Mixed seafood soup (Tum Yum Seafood)

The ambiance of the place is very nice and melo. Very relaxing and chill. My waitress was very nice and cheerful. I ordered the Tum Yum Seafood Soup and it was made just like I expected super delicious. I added a little rice in my bowl and add the soup and let me tell you.

Deliciouso! This restaurant is definitely a gem and raging fireworks in your tummy. Let me explain, I've gone to the restaurant twice in two days. I first noticed it while driving and immediate curious because of how busy they were. So obviously, I went to check them out and was NOT disappointed. This will review will focus on food from my first visit. My drink of choice was camomile tea and honey. The presentation was SO cute. For food I had jasmine rice and Tamarind Fish and Herbs. Chef's kiss on both items. For the fish be prepared to wait a "few minutes" for it to come out. If you are super hungry I would recommend getting an appetizer. I was satisfied with my tea and was not an hurry. The fish was very moist, the vegetables tasted fresh and the rice was fluffy and tasted heavenly. I really enjoyed my food and the "homie" style customer service. Kimmy was my server on both visits and is very kind. She remembered me from the previous day and asked my name . Excellent customer service, delicious food and I will be back (in my terminator voice ).

Pad See- Ew Lunch Special, Thai Iced Tea With Coconut Milk

We have been here a few times since being in the area for the last year and a half. We have also ordered for a larger group for a family party a couple of times. Food has not disappointed us. It can get busy and packed which means the food is good! But the service is exceptional. I've always had a good experience. I was out with my baby and really wanted some Thai food. We came in for lunch. I wasn't sure if our stroller would fit inside so I only brought his car seat. Paula sat us and was very caring to see if she can help make him more comfortable. When we were wrapping up, she helped pack my leftovers and even offered to bring it to the car. Mind you, it was raining hard. I figured I can bring my car over and grab the food but she insisted it wasn't an issue. Beyond the food, the care and customer service must be spoken about. No doubt, we will come back.

When we first walked in the place was near packed. What a great diverse group of costumers. They all were very friendly, you could tell everyone in there were regulars from all over. The food is plentiful. One meal fed me for three meal. We definitely will be back. Fair prices and kind staff.

Tofu yellow curry

I went two days in a row. Geez! I'm a groupie. First day was yellow curry w/tofu and spicy edamame. The next day it was pad Thai tofu lunch special w/ side of white rice. Service was great when ordering togo and dining in. They did make me choose between tofu pad Thai and veggie it's not together it's one or the other :/ I still love it and will be back soon

Pineapple fried rice with shrimp

My hubby came here with a friend and they enjoyed a nice meal and I got to try some of the leftovers. They got chicken wings and chicken satay off the appetizer list and for the main entree they got pineapple fried rice with shrimp and beef pad thai. Everything tasted good and service was excellent. They were able to omit garlic in the foods that had them due to allergy reasons so that was nice that there was no marinade or preseasoning on the dishes which afforded us to customize the fixins.. We don't know any Thai places in this area so we depended on yelp and pictures to lead us here. Although this place didn't make it as our favorite place, the food was good and met our needs overall. It's different but not in a bad way, just not used to having curry spices in the fried rice. I liked it and may stop by again if we are in the mood for thai.

Tom Kha Soup

Thai food has been my recent craving and I was excited to spot a Thai restaurant in Camarillo that I had not tried before. Reviews looked good and it was on the side of town that I needed to run some errands so I called in an order for pickup. Two items ran be about $30, kind of middle in the road for pricing. Not bad at $15 a dish but the soup did seem a little smaller for that price but then to off set that the portion size for the pad see ew was pretty good. The interior of the restaurant is very vibrant with their colors and it was welcoming. On a Friday night there were a good amount of customers dining inside. The staff were friendly. I paid at the register and both gals were super friendly. This would definitely be a place I'd like to come back to so that I could eat inside. The decor was cute and from my quick interactions staff seemed very nice. My food was packaged and cooked to order, no issues. The Tom Kha soup with chicken was a 5/5. I loved the broth and that there were a lot of huge chunks of white meat chicken and veggies. I just love the mushrooms. This broth was very tasty, I liked that it was a little on the sweet side, different but good. Definitely a soup I'd order again. Pad See Ew with beef was more middle of the road 3/5. The beef itself just wasn't my favorite and I was a little disappointed that they didn't have more egg in the dish like some places do. The egg was very sparse and tiny. The noodles were cooked perfectly though and I liked the veggies. The sauce was tasty but average. Overall this is a dish I'd pass on as there is better pad see ew within a 5 mile radius. Some hits and misses with the food but overall it was still a good dining experience, even for takeout. I really loved my soup and they have a wide variety of options that I look forward to trying some other dishes. If you're looking for a cute spot in Camarillo to dine on the other side of town (heading Oxnard direction) then this is a decent option.

Cashew Nut Shrimp

Looking for an informal restaurant with outdoor dining that we hadn't tried before. Based on Yelp reviews, Tamarind fit the bill. Because they have only a limited number of outdoor tables, we made a reservation (which they honored - when we got here, a table for 4 had a reserved sign on it. Nice!) When trying a new Thai restaurant, I almost always order a pad Thai dish so I can compare it to others I have eaten at. This time I went with shrimp Pad Thai ($19). OUTSTANDING! My wife went with the Cashew Nut Chicken ($19). Also excellent. The outdoor eating area is right outside the restaurant next to the parking lot. It is far enough away from Daily Drive that there is little car noise or smell. Service was excellent throughout the meal. My new go-to Thai restaurant in Camarill

The food here was delicious! I went with 2 others and we got lunch specials. Insanely great price…read morefor a very solid meal! And everything tasted so delicious! We were all very satisfied. The service was great, and they're so kind! There isn't a lot of indoor seating, but for a small group it was fine.

I'd give this 1/2 a star, not for the food alone, but for the response--which was insulting,…read moreinaccurate, and unnecessarily presumptuous. 1. I'm Chinese. I've been around lemongrass, ginger, and layered spices my entire life--likely longer than the person lecturing me. To suggest I "don't understand spices" is not only wrong, it's frankly offensive. 2. I ordered drunken noodles. I am fully aware of the difference between chow mein (which I even laughed at) and flat wide rice noodles. Explaining my own order to me as if I were confused is insulting and wildly presumptive. 3. If I wanted soup or a different dish altogether, I would have ordered it--or driven a little farther to Rachada Moorpark or anywhere along Sherman Way, where Thai restaurants somehow manage to get both flavor and humility right. 4. As a business owner, the correct response would have been a simple apology. Instead, I was told what I supposedly ordered, why it wasn't wrong, and what I "should" order next time. That's not accountability--that's deflection. Drunken noodles are a basic, foundational dish. If you get that wrong, there's no backpedaling--just like fried rice at a Chinese restaurant. Some dishes are benchmarks. Miss them, and there's nowhere to hide. I'll be going back to Luv2Eat or Ratchada. Same price point. Vastly better execution--and respect.
