Sawadee Thai in Oxnard has a very spacious dining area, beautifully filled with Thai décor--it honestly feels like you've stepped into a fancy restaurant in Thailand. The ambiance was one of the highlights of my visit. I was dining solo and ordered the eggplant basil. It was okay, but not quite what I expected. While the dish had fresh string beans, onions, and bell peppers, I felt it was lacking in both eggplant and basil, which are kind of the stars of the dish. I also thought it was a bit odd that I wasn't asked about my preferred spice level when ordering, as most Thai restaurants usually do. After my food arrived, the staff did come back to ask if I wanted it spicier and kindly provided three different chili sauces, which I appreciated. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating, and overall the service left a positive impression. I'll definitely have to make another trip to try other dishes before making a full evaluation of the restaurant, but the atmosphere and service alone make it worth revisiting. read more

I like this place but the vegetables were tough to chew in Phad See Ew. I did ask to make the vegetables cooked soft as I have hard time chewing but it's not soft enough, still hard and tough and crispy ! I m just disappointed they did not follow what I said! read more

Every time I go here I always have a great experience. The food is good. The service is good. If you're in the neighborhood, you gotta stop by. The rice oh my gosh, my son goes to town on their rice. We get the chicken Satay, and my 10-year-old son ends up eating one whole order so I have to order two. Please, make time to stop by here. They are great people and good food. read more

We ordered crab rice, pad thai & some spring rolls. We liked it, especially the fried rice, it was very flavorful with right amount of crab flavor in it. The pad thai was just okay, it wasn't the best. Their service was excellent, the lady waitress was very attentive and the young man was very kind and welcoming, smiles and helpful. Super tasty. I went with my mom and got the vegetarian egg rolls. So good and crispy. I ordered a khao Soi yellow curry with vegetables. Very tasty. I also got a pineapple fried rice with tofu. It was pretty good. I have wanted to try it for a while. And I'm glad it was here. The real plants and figurines on the walls are very cool, the server was very kind and explanatory. Very disappointed. Paid $65 for 4 items. This soup is one of our favorite's & we've been coming here for 30 plus years. The soup was missing cilantro, ginger, & galanga root. I get times are tough but if you're missing ingredients you should let the customer know. read more

Found this hidden gem in Ventura in a less busy area. This place needs a big shout out for not just the beautiful decor and friendly staff, but this food packs a punch with its flavor profile! The pad thai was beautifully flavorful, the egg rolls which I usually pass on, were crispy on the outside and warmly filled on the inside. But our go to and favorite dish in which we rate all Thai food is the yellow curry. YUMMM!! Wow!! It is so warmly evolving in the flavors as it rolls around on the tongue! Thai iced tea is amazing too! High marks and I hope they get more traffic because they do a wonderful job! read more

This restaurant has a really nice Thai themed interior! They have a lot of decor all around and it was a nice vibe. They have a nice selection of Thai food on the menu. I got the basil curry noodle with chicken and my friend got the spring rolls. The entrees were presented on extravagant looking plates, but the food was just decent in my opinion. Basil curry noodles w/ chicken: I initially wanted shrimp but it was $8 additional fee so it was most definitely not worth to upgrade. The noodles itself was piping hot and had a good creamy curry flavor. I I enjoyed my dish quite a lot. Just sad about how much better it would've been with shrimp. Shrimp spring rolls: these rolls look big in the picture which they are, but it was filled entirely with veggies and only had a tiny shrimp in each half roll of spring roll. The flavor of the spring rolls were okay. The sauces on the side also didn't pair that well with the rolls. It was a miss for my friend. Customer service was really good though. Everyone was nice and friendly. The only problem was the prices of the food and some of the dishes can use a little work on it. Overall, I might just come back again considering there aren't that many Thai places in Ventura. read more

Our server was a bright spot however didn't offer any seasoning, chili oil etc. table is set with just a fork. I suppose we're supposed to ask for cutlery? All the usual go-to typical Thai dishes (I'm a creature of habit and I order the same foods, and the Som Thum sour spicy papaya salad was spot on, Pad Thai was spot on, Tom Yum spicy soup was spot on). Take out or dine in. Solo eaters and small groups of 2 to 6 should be comfortable. Any group larger than 6 might be a bit snug. Large private parking lot, one on the side closer to the other stores, but also more parking on the back side of the building, on the abandoned side of the strip mall (moment of silence for Hello Mai Darling). Workers were all friendly, responsive, quick (obvi follow the golden rule of be nice to get treated nicely). In conclusion, YES, recommended. read more

Really tasty! Been a long time resident and have never come before... we got seafood soup, tom ka soup, pad Thai, and chow main (really good, had a garlicky flavor).. Service was great! Very friendly. Only down side is I didn't like how they presented gratuity. Menu says 5 or more it's added but It says 18% service charge, not gratuity. then on the bottom of itemized receipt it offered a suggested gratuity percentage and on the signed card receipt it just says price, "gratuity" and total.. should say "additional gratuity" I feel like it's kinda sneaky to get more, but that's just me. My family has been going there for 20 years but in the last couple months this place has changed! Will not be going back after the last 2 experiences we have had with this lady. Super disappointed with our take out Pad Thai! They Definitely did not make it the normal way! The sauce is "off" and... There's thin spaghetti type noodles mixed in with the normal rice noodles (sure hope they're also rice because we order this purposely for the gluten free noodles!! They packed it in a container that squished it so badly that it's sticky and soggy! Ugh! I will NEVER order Pad Thai from here again! Probably won't order anything from here again :o( read more

First, I want you to say that my boyfriend and I love the food at Sawasdee Thai Cuisine. So much so, that even though we live in the Bay Area, whenever we drive down to LA, we stop at Sawasdee on the way home with a cooler and pick up a large order to take home with us. Our last visit was a bit unfortunate, though, in that we specifically ordered our soup with tofu since we do not eat meat, and when we got home we found that the soup was loaded with chicken and had to throw it out. Very disappointing. We will continue to order from Sawasdee for now and I am still giving 5 stars, but I hope they will see this review and pay much more attention when people specify their orders based on ethical and/or dietary concerns. read more

I thought I'd regret ordering Orange Chicken at a Thai place but it turned out amazing. It tasted like the chicken was air fried because it wasn't greasy and very crispy. The flavor was just right and not too tangy or too sweet. Definitely recommend!! read more

The food isn't bad here .... But it also isn't GREAT. I've eaten here a few times .... They don't usually even have the duck that's on the menu which makes me a little sad. The fresh spring rolls I had were overstuffed with lettuce and a huge chunk of cucumber and a measly 2 shrimp per roll. The taste was good but they fell apart because of how much lettuce and cucumber they tried to cram into them plus they were loosely wrapped, so they almost ended up being a salad. The pad Thai tastes good but it's just waaaaaay too oily for me. I feel like I'm gonna have a heart attack just looking at it. I don't like leaving negative reviews.... But I think honesty can help businesses improve if they are willing to listen so that's why I decided to write this. Like I said.... Not bad but also not great. read more
