Wow!! Never expected to find food this good on the roadside in a small Texas town. I was curious…read moreabout the German name on a Mexican Restaurant but the reviews were good so I gave it a try.. We were greeted by Tano, who was very friendly and welcoming. We told him we were camping at Lake Somerville Birch Creek and he was very helpful. Menu was extensive , from breakfast all day to grilled items, senior and kid's sections and Mexican favorites. Chips and salsa were delivered immediately. Tasty salsa and good chips. We lived in Phoenix for many years and visited Mexico many times so we have a good understanding of Mexican food. Stacey waited on us and they let us the onion rings were homemade. We ordered them as an appetizer bc who doesn't like good onion rings? They were perfect, lightly battered and cooked to perfection Reminded us on onion rings at Bo's in Key West. Not the sad kind full of breading that you bite into and the whole onion slides out. These were great! I had a beef chimichanga that was crisp and loaded with steak, covered with guacamole and perfectly delicious. Will definitely return when in the area and highly for a good meal at a reasonable price. Nice pour on wine as well.

Jim had the chicken fried steak small order he had beans and salad bar as his sides. The unfortunate thing was there was no tomatoes on the salad bar. The atmosphere was normal nothing to write home about beware of the traffic outside on the road. People in this town and surrounding area drive like bats from you know where. I give this place a four star rating simply because of the service and the fact that I think it's the only thing keeping this little tiny town together

I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was. I travel a lot for work and try to hit up local places as much as I can. This one did not disappoint. It's got the nostalgic old small town feel I love. The ambiance was nice all around. Clean, comfortable, and friendly folks all around. I look forward to my next visit!

One of my favorite parts was honestly the homemade chips and the salsa- the salsa has a little kick to it but it's the perfect amount. My husband had the carne guisada and enjoyed it- the kids had the cheese enchiladas and devoured it- they devoured the queso too- queso was commented on as the best queso- it was decent, nothing special to me as a huge queso lover. It's simply a melted jalepeno cheese they get and the bowl cost around $11. I got one of the dinner meals, i'm forgetting the name- it was plenty big- the chicken enchilada was the best part so probably would just get that next time. Excellent customer service- the owner is so sweet! bummed they ran out of their coconut pies or we totally would have tried that!
