This review is only for the Sunday brunch buffet... I'll start with the decor. It's nice. I had never been to Talons before the remodel, but I like how it looks now. Fresh, clean, crisp, modern. Next, the service. The staff was pleasant, but young and not well trained. We had two people waiting on us, even though we didn't need two. They only needed to bring water, coffee, tea, and pick up some dirty plates, then finally bring our check - but they were either overwhelmed by the crowd or completely brand new. Nice, but painfully slow and inexperienced. I felt bad for them. Maybe part of the problem was that there were TWO of them, and they couldn't keep track of who was waiting on us when... Finally, the food. My initial gut reaction was to order from the regular breakfast menu, but when the others in my party all got the buffet, and I saw how busy it was, I was worried my food would take too long, so I ordered the buffet too. Mistake. I saw on the menu that coffee comes with the buffet, and I asked if I could substitute hot tea - I was told yes, and they brought it out. It did not come with honey or lemon, or a spoon (there were no spoons on the table, in our napkin wraps - strange). i asked several times for these items from our various servers but they never came. I finally used my knife to stir a little sugar into my now warm tea. Later I discovered on my check that I was charged for the tea, which I would have been more forgiving of had I been able to get it how I like it, with honey and lemon. But oh well - I was over the whole experience by the time I finally got the check, and didn't want to fight it. The food: I choked down some scrambled eggs, which were clearly mass produced from a box (not fresh). I also choked down the bacon, which was thin and overcooked, not tasty at all. I tried a bite of sausage link, but it was gross and couldn't eat the rest of it. The potatoes were completely inedible. Mostly I ate the fresh fruit. Several in my party braved the very long omelet line, and raved that their omelets were great, but I didn't have one - so maybe that's the better route should you decide to order the breakfast buffet. By the time my party was done with their breakfasts, several went for dessert which is part of the breakfast buffet (I did not) but were told all desserts was gone. After a bit of a fuss, one of the wait staff very sweetly brought a slice of something from their "regular" desserts in the back of the kitchen (which are different than the buffet desserts), and a few in my party shared it. So that was nice. The price of the buffet was inexpensive, but apparently too inexpensive to have quality food. I would not recommend the weekend breakfast buffet. Needs a lot of work our third visit (party of 13)and it I hard to get someone who can handle the many people but they charge you the 20% tip either way if the service is good or not The food is ok needs much improvement ordered the special loaded potato soup and a club sandwich well the soup was far from loaded (felt like I was in a nursing home it was put through a blend with no taste or potatoes, the worst ever) The club was soggy bread on the bottom where it must of sat waiting for the other orders to get put out Will have to reconsider going back They need help getting it together Maybe smaller party have better luck read more

My wife and I were recently married at Talon's and were absolutely delighted. We held the ceremony on one of the outside patios and rented a large dining room for the reception which made everything incredibly easy and efficient. Planning the event with Ms. Hellard was painless; every single one of our requests and wishes was met and followed through on. The food was delicious and a huge hit, and the wait staff were perfectly friendly and helpful. Our wedding of 22 had more than enough space to eat and dance in the private dining room, although significantly larger parties will likely need to spill out into additional spaces. Our wedding at Talon's (we're happy to claim it was the first one there!) was beautiful, easy, terrific fun, and very reasonably priced. Most importantly, we can emphatically say that we would not have changed a thing. read more

I took a group for lunch from a local assisted living and had a great time Their was 11 of us and Harry, the server could not of been more attentive Our lunch was served quickly, hot and delicious Harry knew that we were going to need separate checks and had them ready for us when we finished dessert I will for sure be back when I have guests from out of town Your truly a happy customer read more

Great place for apps, lunch or dinner. Bar is sometimes loud with the 19th hole crowd, but cold beer and TVs for sports. Try the lettuce wraps and patio seating for a fantastic view. read more

First time here. Ate lunch with a small group. Overall the food was good. Large piece of Mahi on the catch of the day sandwich. Said it came with tartar sauce...it didn't, had to ask. It took a really long time for the food to arrive. The table next to us arrived after us and got their food first. Portions were good size for the price. Waiter was ok had a tendency to "toss" plates onto the table rather than sit your plate in front of you. Beautiful atmosphere...hopefully the service will improve. read more

Update: Service has improved vastly, and the food is very good for a golf course restaurant. Their special nights, such as New Years or Valentines, offer excellent entrees. Great place to hang out and have a beer or cocktail. read more

We love Talons and feel thankful to have it so close. The atmosphere is nice/casual, the food is excellent, and the value is really good. Living in Eagle Harbor, we frequently walk there for dinner. Shrimp and grits are my favorite. My wife has had the pecan encrusted Mahi Mahi. We've had the ribeye, the fried chicken with gravy special, seared scallops, and the salmon. We love having Talon's as an option in town. They offer "kids eat free" specials often which is a nice bonus. I was looking forward to their Pasta Thursday but was a little disappointed as it seemed to be an all you can eat buffet, but is actually a made to order situation. Better quality for sure, but it took quite a while for our group to have one round of pasta and the portions were rather small. Did not want to go back up due to the time to wait. Would be nice to also add ready-made pasta with some toppings (meatballs, veggies etc) that the customer can make themselves and also have the option for a made to order dish if they choose. We love sitting outside, and prefer to do that when dining with children as the bar area can get quite loud and in turn we also do not want to disturb other diners as not all enjoy dining next to a family with kids. Beautiful location on the golf course, and a good menu. Lots of events held there (think holiday buffets, breakfast with Santa etc) and their party room is great for large groups. Menu seems reasonably priced but somehow our bill always ends up higher than expected (likely the cost of beverages, nonalcoholic, as that seems to add on to the cost). Overall a nice choice for something that is not a chain or fast food franchise! read more

I've been dining here since '99 and the more I dined, the more outdated it looked. I went back this past weekend because of their killer renovation. Man, man, man! Talons is back in its prime. The new interior and patio is very welcoming and modern. The attention to detail was superb. The staff was among the most welcoming in the history of Eagle Harbor. Thumbs up to Talons. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. We ate lunch in the bar area, which had at least four televisions, and was very nice. The renovation is sleek and sophisticated. And the food was delicious! The 8-ounce burger was loaded with bacon and cooked as ordered. The Philly Cheese steak sandwich melted in my mouth. They offer full bar service and serve Pepsi products. This was once a fun place to stop and have drinks as well as great food. The renovation is great, but has lost its family and neighborhood appeal. It now seems to be a wannabe high end restaurant without the friendly atmosphere they had for many years. I truly hoped the changes, which took a ridiculous amount of time, would be worth it and the original servers would come back, as promised. We've lived nearby for 13 years and don't ever recall eating there until recently. We went there for an anniversary party in November and were quite impressed with the menu and remodel. The party we attended already had a buffet setup so we didn't order off the menu during that first visit. The food was quite good for catered buffet food and the service was pretty good. We returned the following weekend for a date night out to try the menu and opted to sit in the bar area at one of the tables. We ordered lettuce wraps and chicken nachos. The Flavor of the lettuce wraps were fantastic, however the romaine lettuce provided for the wraps were not very easy to manipulate into handling l. I would have preferred iceberg lettuce. The romaine has that spine in the lettuce leaf which made it difficult to eat without making a huge mess. More ended up on my plate than in my mouth. The chicken nachos were a 1 star. It literally appeared that they threw some colored chips on a plate, sprinkled about 6 small morsels of chicken, then covered it in that fake liquid cheese found at Racetrac gas station near the hotdogs. It was terrible and not worth the price. On the positive side, the guacamole was fantastic. We will give it another shot though. I did see a salad go by a couple times and it looked like a much better choice. The food we ordered this time was subpar, but I'm giving it 3 stars for the atmosphere, convenience, and the quality of the food during our first visit. If I was rating strictly on food quality of this second visit it would be a solid 1 star. read more

We moved to Eagle Harbor a year ago. We were told by our realtor that Talons was under new management and was very good. Our first visit was good. The food and service. It started going steadily downhill from there. The food and service both declined, and the biggest thing was a few of the things we wanted to order from the menu - they were out of. They had the key lime pie on the menu for dessert several times, but when we tried to order it, they were always out. This is unacceptable. Either take it off the menu or have some. We decided to give it another try when they advertised a St. Patrick's Day party with a corned beef and cabbage dinner. We went there with another couple and must have gotten the worst server they had. She kept coming back and asking us over again what we ordered. It was simple - two corned beef dinners, one beef stew, and one shepherd's pie. It took forever to get our drinks. The server told us the kitchen would not allow her to put our food order in because they were swamped. She came back twice to our table to tell us that. How disappointing. They clearly did not have enough staff to properly serve the amount of people that showed up. When we finally got our dinners, the corned beef was terrible. It was so lean and had no taste. It was cut on the grain instead of against the grain, which made it stringy and fall into pieces when you wanted to take a bite. Also, a DJ was advertised for this event, and lo and behold, there was no DJ. Talons could be an exceptional place, but needs good management who cares about good customer service and quality food. Went for Mother's Day buffet. They were definitely not prepared for the number of people in the restaurant today. "Salad" was lettuce. "Fresh Fruit" was chopped melon and pineapple. The omelet and waffle stations were way too busy and positioned too close to the other food. The people making these items had to get refills for the items themselves. There should have been a server making sure they were well stocked since this slowed things down substantially. The food trays were often empty and people waited a long time to get food (so the lines were long). The desserts looked like store bought cookies and brownies from Publix. Really? read more

Had a welcome home party for my son with 18 guests at Talons last weekend. The staff bent over backwards to accommodated all of our needs and the food was fabulous. I would highly recommend this place as a great place to have a similar gathering or to simply go there for dinner. read more

We made a last minute reservation for St. Patrick's Day and at the time we felt lucky to get it. We showed up a couple of minutes early and the hostess who was completely overwhelmed told is it would take awhile. Another young lady suggested we go outside on the patio and wait. After inhaling tons of cigarette and cigar smoke we finally got called to a table. It was very apparent that Talons was completely understaffed. The large dining room was mostly empty with just a couple of tables full but several others with dirty dishes, etc. still on them. We specifically came here for the corned beef and cabbage special. Well, when we placed our order we were told they ran out of the cb&c which was the special. It was only 7:30 so it seemed that they underestimated how many people would order it. Long story short, the green beer was good, everything else pretty mediocre. We knew the service and food was slow so we ordered our food when we ordered drinks and the food still took 45 minutes to come out. I really felt bad for the people at the table next to us who waited well over an hour for their food and we're still waiting when we left. Oh boy, does this place need an enema. The only saving grace was the professionalism of the young oriental lady who was a manager of some sort. She was great, other then her, oh boy. I don't even remember a bus boy/girl there. Most of the tables were full of dirty plates, etc. I'll give Talons one more shot but if it's another epic fail, that's it. read more
