My boyfriend, dog, and I stayed at France Park for two nights and had a great time. We rented the…read morecabin (there's only one on site) and wanted to make a review since it's hard to find info on it. The cabin is tucked away and was difficult to find due to the staff not giving us a map or directions but we found it just after driving the whole park and deciding to go back for directions. The cabin is primitive and you have to bring your own bed clothes, pillows, etc. no running water, electric, or heating/cooling but there is an electrical outlet a little ways from the cabin. You'd need an extension cord to reach the cabin though. Picnic table and fire ring on site. They didn't give us any hassle with bringing our dog which we declared when making the reservation. The cabin is very shaded and I was not worried about my dog over heating. There's also a store on site with basic supplies and you can also buy firewood on site. There were vault toilets right by the cabin but they were intolerable...strong odor, wet floors, you get it...so we would head up to the bath house for the rest rooms. Little bit of a walk so we'd drive up. Those were clean and the showers were free. France Park had a lot of fun things to do including various fishing areas (one being just down the hill from the cabin), a swimming/beach area with an obstacle course on the water, and the coolest disc golf course I've ever seen (we brought our own discs. I didn't check to see if you could rent or buy on site). The course goes through the woods and was very challenging for a beginner like myself but loved the experience. The location is also fairly close to a tubing place called Riverside Rentals and we really enjoyed that river float. Also not too bad of a drive to town if needing supplies. I wish we would have taken more photos but was too consumed in being present and enjoying disconnecting. Overall, the only negative was the vault toilets but we'll definitely be back to enjoy this location. What a gem!

They have restaurants, bathrooms and showers. Again no five star fancy facilities. I had a great time in the outdoors with family and friends. Will always be back. Finally we get to the front and nothing... so my husband gets out to go ask and the lady at the desk INSIDE says yes you have to get out to come check in even though the sign says to wait. Next my daughter is riding her Segway with my husband and they're told "no electric bikes".... Except it isn't a bike. Not even close. The entire time we are there people are FLYING around in gas golf carts (which you have to pay $30 to use your own) and BLARING music the entire time.... Late into the evening and well past 11pm I was scared to let my kids play because I could tell half the drivers were drunk, most were going WAY too fast and many were definitely under 18 (the "required" age to drive one there) yet nothing was said to any of them... only my 6 year old going like 4mph on a Segway. Silly. I spent probably an hour + picking our spot online. I am picky about where we camp and the proximity to certain things. I picked a spot that was toward the side of the campground and had a playground (per the map) at the end of the row. Except THERE WAS NO PLAYGROUND. It had been removed but the map wasn't updated. The entire place was a bit trashy and no well kept. It was beyond disappointing. It's no coincidence that they have google reviews turned off people. That that as a hint and find somewhere else to stay. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Attaching pictures to show the site we stayed at, where there was supposed to be a playground, the sign at the front, etc...

I should have known what to expect when I tried calling for 2 weeks to try to make a reservation…read moreand never got an answer (or a call back). Our group decided to camp here anyway. "Meh. I've experienced better," is an adequate description of this place. We only stayed one night, and our experience was just okay. The owners aren't exactly trying to impress anyone with their customer service. (This was definitely exemplified at 3:00am when the owners were trying to repair something outside their RV, pounding away with their truck lights shining directly into our campsite, talking extremely loud with each other. And when we had to track the guys down to get a site. And when the owner never came back to deliver firewood like he said he would.) The bathrooms could have been worse (we didn't shower or anything) - they're what we expected for a campground. There were port-o-potty's at the campground and the beach which were actually really clean. It's really unfortunate this place isn't being taken care of better. The beach used to be very well taken care of - the care they put into the beach is minimal. Grass/weeds/bushes are overgrown. There's not a restaurant/ice cream shop there any longer. The sites are not private at all. Fire rings and picnic tables are falling apart. If it rains, there are puddles everywhere (we got caught in the rain). Most sites did have water and electric, however, which was convenient. Their website says they rent pontoons, but when we asked about it the owner told us it was "in the shop". He said he'd call over the marina and "take care of us", but we never heard back from him. Not surprising. We had a good time because we were with friends, and really, I think that's the only thing that made us not completely dislike the place. I have been coming to Bass Lake for 27 years, and I remember a time when this campground was a really place. It's a shame to see they're not putting a little bit more TLC into this place to make it what it could be!
