This Place is simply gross. I walked in about a month ago and the lady was sitting at the front counter smoking. enough said.

Very unprofessional. I expected better from this place. The bride's cake was slanted to one side (very noticeable). The details were sloppy, like they were done at the last minute (a kindergartener could have done better). The buttercream tasted old. The owner said the cakes were going to be delivered at a specific time (earlier than expected) and they were delivered late. We thought we weren't going to receive them at all!! :/ When we tried to contact the business to find out the status of the cakes, the number seemed to be blocked off from receiving incoming calls. When the owner was confronted about the cake 2 days later (same number, worked fine then-what a coincidence!!), she gave excuses and didn't even offer an apology or offer to credit back some of the payment or anything! I would not reccommend ordering from Tall City Sweets. Sugar Mama's had closed it's doors temerarily around the time I needed to order my Baby Shower Cake & this was the only other place around us that I could think of so I went ahead and ordered. I printed out a huge picture of the Cake I wanted and labeled the picture to the color choices I wanted on my Cake for Her so when she was making the Cake she would make the colors correct. Upon ordering, this Lady wouldn't even look me in the face....she looked down at the paper I was showing Her and wrote the order info down the entire time I was talking which made me feel like she wasn't really listening but I ordered anyways. She took my payment, the picture I printed and labled and the info she wrote down and went to the back area without saying anything to me at all so I figured she'd be back but I waited around for 10 minutes and she never came back so I had to call out "Hello" and she's like "Did ya forget something"? & I was like well... I read on the door you are moving locations and I need to know where we will be picking the Cake up at and I didn't give you a time we'd be picking it up and she gave me this look like I was disturbing Her and she went back to where she was before for another 3 minutes slammed the paper down on the cabnit and asked "What time"?! I said 3pm because my Baby Showers is at 6pm and she wrote it down and asked "Is that all you needed"? I was like where do I pick it up at and she grabbed one of Her buisness cards and slopaly starting jotting down directions to Her house and slid me the card, said thanks see you on the 6th while she was walking away, and went back to the back room......... October 6th came around and it was 2:54pm and my Husband and I were driving to Her House to pick up my Baby Shower cake and after the little mishap I had with Her my Husband said he'd deal with Her because he's not the type to put up with additude and he was already upset with me for keeping my order with Her after the blunt disrespect she showed me so he calls Her and lets Her know he's on His way to pick up the Cake and she said it would take about 10 more minutes because she's still working on it and he said ok and hung up. We stopped to get something to drink to give Her some extra time to finish so it would be done when we arrived and we arrived there at 3:15 and my Husband walks up and goes in Her house with me and our Son in the Car and doesn't come out until 3:45 because she hadn't finished the Cake yet..... then I look at the Cake to find most of the colors weren't correct even though I made it very clear of the colors I wanted which upset me.... I didn't want to go in and have her change it because it was already almost 4 and we still had lots to do so we just took it to where my Baby Shower was being held at and found even more wrong with it..... it was a 2-tier cake top circle bottom square and it was very unsteardy, the top had a fondant bow which was very lumpy and flattened because it wouldn't stay up, there were spirals made of fonadant as well that were attached throughout the bow with icing but they all fell out as we were putting the Cake on the table it was designated for and as I started looking at it more I noticed the Cake was really just thrown together. The black zebra strips, which were supposed to be red and blue, actually had black color running because they were just slapped on there in a hurry and most of the fondant balls that were around the trim of the Cake were not even attached....just sat next to them so i'm surprised they weren't rolling off the stand they were on and the items on my Cake that were colored red and blue smelled like play-dough and as the Baby Shower progressed I heard people actually say it TASTED like play-dough so I was right about that. I messaged the Lady on Facebook to let Her know of some of the issue's and she just apologized that the Cake colors were wrong.. that she THOUGHT she did them right and the excuse for the blue and red fondant smelling, looking, & TASTING like play-dough was "Fondant takes some getting use to there are those that love it and those that don't" and I thought that was not good enough for a $60 Cake that no one would eat and that was not as I ordered. I will never go back to this place or reccomened anyone else too. SO glad Sugar Mama's is back in buisness.... Will be ordering my Mother's Wedding Cake for Febuary 2013 from them because I KNOW they do a knock-out job!!! read more

Adam W. I don't know what place you walked into, or why you would lie like this. This place was closed in August because the new owners had other plans for the building. They were the best in town and I was sad to see it close. If your intent was to hurt their business and try to boost someone else's (I saw your other reviews) you should be ashamed of yourself. read more
