If I could give zero stars, and have it stand as a viable review, I would for Milieu. I visited…read moreMilieu with two dear friends, and was beyond appalled by the level of service -- if you could call it that -- provided by none other than the store owner. Apparently her grasp of proper sales etiquette is flawed, as she proceeded to brutally verbally bully one of my friends. This same friend has spent thousands of dollars in the store previously, despite having Denise, the store owner, refuse to sell her clothes in the past. As a small business owner, Denise should cater to her customers. Owning a store does not give you the authority to lower the self-esteem of your clientele. In fashion, we celebrate our bodies, and yet Denise so repulsively insulted my friend by rubbing her belly and telling her not to buy a particular shirt. My friend felt confident in her choices, and still spent nearly $1000 on clothes, while I spent a little over $200. Denise may carry quality garments with unique flare, but her social skills are no more advanced than those of a baked potato. In this small business climate, she should be treating her customers with respect, lending her "expert" opinon when appropriate, and with tact. Instead, she chose to use petty, vanity-fueled snark. If not for her 75% off sales rack, and my attempt to sustain an otherwise lovely afternoon with girlfriends, I would never have spent a single cent in Denise's store. I really try to always give small businesses the benefit of the doubt, but there's simply no way I can do so here, as this was the third strike with my Milieu experiences.

Ordinarily, I would have said yes, I look forward to shopping at Milieu, but let me tell you why…read moreDenise and Milieu will NEVER get another dime of my money - and why I will tell everyone I know about my latest experience there. Although I am originally from Detroit, I have lived elsewhere since my undergrad graduation. My mother always raved about Milieu, and was a semi-regular customer until she moved away three years ago. But on each and every trip home, one of our stops was Milieu, and each trip resulted in a purchase of some sort. I've even had her sales people send pictures (when they remembered), because they say Denise refuses to put much into online shopping....her choice, even though it means I don't shop there as much as I would....fast forward to this week. We are in town for my nephews graduation, and went to Milieu BEFORE the graduation on June 3, 2019. We worked with Melita, and I purchased a pair of pants. While we were there, my mother asked repeatedly about Denise, her health, etc....she asked about the salesperson who is "pregnant all the time", and found that this person is pregnant again - all this to say we were not one time customers. My mom asked about the pants I was buying, and asked Melita to call if they ever went on sale. She said she didn't know that they would go on sale, but would call if they did. JUNE 3rd. Last night, June 5, 2019, I look at my email and sure enough, there is one from Milieu Style announcing a storewide 30% off sale. My mom is excited, because now she can purchase the pants I just bought on June 3rd. I wake up, call the store, and find that they don't open until 11am. Ironically, at 10:55 a.m., I receive a call from Melita, who lets me know about the sale. I tell her that we will come in to purchase the pants for my mother and I also ask if I can have an adjustment as I JUST PURCHASED THE PANTS ON JUNE 3RD. She says she will talk to Denise. When we arrive at the store less than one hour later, Denise immediately recognizes my mom (I've only met her once before, so I didn't expect her to remember me). They chat, while I roam the store thinking about the additional purchases I would make now that there are items on sale. Melita quickly rings up the pants for my mother and then another customers purchase. Afterwards, I quietly ask whether she has had a chance to talk to Denise, and she tells me she has, but Denise says there is NOTHING SHE CAN DO FOR ME even if the purchase was just made. Then she goes on to say "I wasn't supposed to even call you". I told her that she could then keep the other items that I was planning to purchase, and that she would not see my face or my money again. My only regret was that my mom made her purchase prior to me having a chance to ask about the adjustment. As a former designer manager for a major retailer who specializes in customer service, I can say I think Denise's "rule" is extremely short sighted. There are always rules, but there is always simply the right thing to do. What I was going to purchase today would have more than made up for the adjustment she could have made AND she would have continued to have me as a customer, albeit occasionally because I don't live in the area. But my guess is that her only interest is in those that do live in the area, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. And did I mention that my mother has introduced many others to Milieu. Never again. Lucky for me, I do know where to get the brands she sells elsewhere. Gina Kyle

At the fancy outdoor mall in Rochester Hills in the north burbs of Detroit, this is a really friendly Buckle store with some great goods, and if it wasn't so expensive I would give it an even higher rating. I enjoy browsing here because cute people come in here and because everyone is really friendly which isn't always the case in the Detroit area.

They're rather pricey, a simple tank top runs you $15, a cute top will be around $50, and a pair of jeans or shorts for men will be anywhere from $60-$120 but the quality of items you're getting and the service are both fantastic! I never walk out of this store without spending a minimum of $200 but again, it's totally worth it! They do hemming in house and if you call ahead and give them your sizes they'll set up a fitting room filled with items for you to try on without shopping :) Love this store and love ken! The Annex - A breath of fresh air…read more Stepping into this place makes me feel better about living in the Detroit Metro Area. I mean, We definitely have our fair share of great shops in Detroit, but having a Gucci, or Saks doesn't make a city "cool," It just states that there is a big enough population of people that will spend the money for the brand names. Little boutiques like the Annex among other places in Detroit gives people in the city something unique and will have people asking you "Where did you get that?" The decor is a mix of old and new. There's an antique piano at the entrance with a bunch of merchandise resting on top of it. as well as a pummel horse by the ladies shoes. However the fashion trends are up to date and cutting edge. Gents, this is more of a ladies boutique (what store isn't?), however, There are a lot of hats for the guys as well as some accessories. The Annex also has a few knickknacks scattered about ie: Candles, unique books, scarfs, calenders, picture frames and original art which makes The Annex a great place for holiday shopping or a place to reward yourself with something new and fresh. Update11/22/11: The Annex is moving to another space in Birmingham off of Maple right next to Caruso Caruso. It will be moving into the "COMPLEX" which will be a compound of several boutiques for an L.A. Fred Segal type of shop! I just hope people get it! I think that they will.

With high end fashion stores like Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Versace, comes sales associates who don't want to waste their time with window shoppers. I've seen sales associates completely ignore people who walk in wearing sweats, but almost trip over themselves to help someone wearing a nice suit but that's more about the mall itself, not Armani itself. As I walked in there were a few customers browsing and I thought I'd take a look at some of the shoes. There is a pair that I say I'm going to get every time I stop by but I ended up talking myself out the price. A sales associate asked me if they could help me find anything and helper me go from shoes to simply getting a Colonge for an Xmas gift. She was patient and really attentive, so that was nice. You cannot say that about many stores over on this side of the mall. Maybe I just got lucky that day to find an actual nice employee but I think I'll be back to possibly get some more stuff soon.

She took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for, offered expert advice on fit, style, and color, and pulled together looks that were sharp, modern, and perfectly suited (pun intended) to our needs. Her attention to detail was impeccable -- from measuring with precision to offering styling tips we wouldn't have thought of ourselves. She balanced honesty and encouragement beautifully, which made decision-making easy and stress-free. Beyond her expertise, Shannon is just an absolute joy to be around. Friendly, funny, and full of positive energy -- the kind of person who turns a shopping trip into something memorable. We walked out not just with great suits, but with total confidence and huge smiles. Thank you, Shannon, for making this such a fantastic experience.
