Helpful, courteous, and attentive friendly staff, always there when you need them, but at the same time unobtrusive. The rooms are really spacious, bright & airy with lovely, modern decor, and as mentioned, spotlessy clean. All the usual room comforts are provided such as tea/coffee making facilities, ironing board+iron and TV. The bathroom was really gorgeous too with a roll-top bath plus walk-in shower. Expensive smelling toileties & beautifuly soft white fluffy towels completed the superior ambiance of the whole building. Breakfast was a delightful experience, with excellent quality locally sourced food, and plenty of it. Some things were even home-made too, like the delicious jams and marmalade. Oh, and better not forget to mention that they also cater for veggetarians. There is lots of attention to detail here, with everything you could want to hand - and if it's not there just ask, & you will be given - with a smile, I might add! I can't praise the owners high enough for their unwavering consideration towards their guests, which in my opinion more than ensures return visits, and plenty of them! To summerize: Outstanding. If I could award more than five stars on this reveiw, then believe me, I would - ten times over!!!

Premier Travel Inn
This is a smart-looking, modern hotel which has very recently been extended and fully re-furbished,…read morewith all rooms being clean, comfortably furnished and equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, TV & hairdryer. The bathrooms are clean & bright, if not a little on the small side, although they are quite a bit larger in the newer rooms. The usual toiletries are provided, but are dispersed from wall-mounted dispensers instead of having individually wrapped items - not a bad thing really as it's more environmentaly friendly not having lots of plastic sachets/bottles & paper to dispose of every day. It has a very large car-park which ensures that parking space is plentiful, and also a very nice enclosed playground with swings, slides etc to keep the little ones happy! There is a Beefeater restaurant/bar directly opposite that serves breakfast, (including an all-you-can-eat buffet) lunch & evening meals, and handy to go for a drink in the evening if you don't want to venture out too far. An excellent all-rounder, as it's great for families, couples or individuals. The reception staff are friendly, efficient and genuinely helpful - nothing is too much trouble. To summerize, the Premiere Inn at Hereford is a great budget hotel & comes very highly recommended!

Red Lion Hotel

While waiting for our food, we overheard a regular tell the lady behind the bar that the wall mounted ashtray outside had blue tits nesting in it! They lady then went off and made up a laminated sign asking smokers not to use the ashtray and why. How sweet. We both went for the chicken and brie pie. An odd combination it turned out, but it had chips, which is what we both really wanted. That said, we did eat the pie and it warmed the cockles of our hearts. The main bar was almost empty apart from a local and the lady behind the bar. We had a brief chat as we left. I enthusiastically explained that we had been canoeing down the river. Met with a quiet enough reaction, we then left. My partner explained as it was a big fishing pub, mentioning you are a canoeist is not advised as a friend of his had done this in the past and was told that canoeists were not welcome. Truth be told were made very welcome. I would definitely return to The Red Lion Hotel if am back in the area.

I especially made the trip to Ludlow to stay at this hotel and visit Ludlow Castle. While the exterior of Feathers is undeniably gorgeous, the interior was shabby in places, the wall-to-wall carpeting was stained and overall there was a distinct smell of old steamed food. In fact, the atmosphere at the Feathers was so creepy that we checked out after an hour and went to another hotel.
