Authentic spot in Steamboat. I was at Storm Peak Brewing Co down the street and stopped in for dinner afterwards. I was pleasantly surprised as it's hard to find good Thai food in mountain towns. Employees were attentive and it didn't take long for the food to come out. My SO likes spicy food and ordered his dish Thai spicy - he was sweating. The employee offered to dilute the curry with coconut milk which was nice. I ordered the pad Thai which was tasty and a generous portion. They were busy with a lot of takeout orders. Stopped in for some really good Thai food after enjoying a few beers next door. We started with an order of the gyozo dumplings, and they were delicious. From there, the Mrs. and I each got an order of Pad See Ew with beef. The first indication something was wrong was the presence of a lime and crushed peanuts on the plate. The next was the presence of glass noodles rather than flat. It quickly became apparent that we received Pad Thai rather than Pad See Ew. My wife actually liked hers and decided to keep it, while I sent mine back. The Pad See Ew came out a little bit later, and it was delicious. Everything was very good. I did not expect a lot from this restaurant, being in the middle of a ski resort in Colorado, as a visitor from Los Angeles used to eating a lot of authentic Thai food. My group ordered and shared family style the following dishes: appetizer sampler, pad Thai with chicken, duck curry, pineapple fried rice with pork, Tom yum soup with shrimp. We also tried the Thai tea whisky drink special! All were great. My biggest complaint is that the medium spicy was not very spicy at all, however that is understandable based on where they are located and the palate of the clientele they probably usually get. We came in starving after a hike. Upon arrival, we told them we had a very hungry two year-old and what would be fast. He said everything is fast! And he was sure right. Not only did we get food right away, it was delicious and he said our table for 10 up so quickly. It was a nice quiet restaurant for us in the corner and we would definitely go back. This place is has a fun vibe and the food is be rug delicious and affordable compared to many of the other restaurants in the area. Food gets pricy by the slopes but this place is actually very affordable and the food is super filling! I'd definitely come here for the iced Thai tea, their noodle soups and gyoza! In this area, the prices are very reasonable and portions are in good sizes. No outdoor seating and indoor seating is comfortable. Friendly service. The presentation of the first dish surprised me. The rice and the main dish were on the same plate. The rice from other dishes was served separately, but still a bit sloppy. Maybe the kitchen was extremely busy. The pad Thai with chicken, spice level 2. And the pork fried rice, spice level 2. I don't know where to start. Every entree was exquisite mate! The pad thai was wonderful. Lot's of green onion, and veggies, with perfectly cooked noodles. The pineapple curry was out of this galaxy! So many flavors in one bowl! I was drinking the broth! Because I had shredded the gnar all day my lips were pretty wind burned and I definitely noticed the spice difference between level 2 and 3! It was great though! The pork fried rice(not my choice) was surprisingly good as well! Father dearest orders the same thing at any style asian place he goes. Everything impressed me about this dinner. From the authentic selection of menu items with good pictures and descriptions to the wide choice of items from noodle soups to Pad Thai and more. The ambiance is quaint, a little cozy, but easy to access... even if finding free parking can be an adventure in Steamboat. I had the Thai Tea, a Pad Thai dish, and the servings were ample. There was a ton of carry-out business and the moderate staff seemed to keep up with everything very efficiently. This restaurant is located just outside the Steamboat Grand Resort, near the ski resort. It is a small restaurant with some tables and a bar with 5-6 chairs. Our group of 5 ate at the bar. I ordered the fresh spring rolls, which were delish! And the roasted duck curry. I love duck and there were large pieces in the curry. It was very tasty. I didn't think a meal could get any worse than the one we had at the super expensive as hell steakhouse in Steamboat that we ate at on our second night here, but here it is... Some of the silverware was dirty, coconut shrimp greasy and off tasting, (they should change the oil more often), blanket shrimp appetizer was more like sarcophagus shrimp, because they were dry as a mummy, fresh roll with shrimp appetizer, the shrimp tasted fresh!!! Vegetable pad thai off tasting, shrimp pad thai, shrimp tasted like they were bad. Both pad thai's were covered with a an almost sickenly sweet sauce that masked any flavors of peanuts, bean sprouts, or vegetables that you mix with the rice noodles. This is, hands down, the best Asian food we've had in Steamboat. The service was great, too! Very friendly and engaging staff. We ordered bubble tea, appetizer platter, fresh rolls, avocado curry seafood, and sweet and sour chicken. The appetizer platter contained 4 eggrolls, 4 crab rangoons, 4 pieces of shrimp, and 4 gyozas. Everything was tasty. The menu says that they serve 2 pieces of fresh rolls, but they must be 2 large pieces because they served us 8 cut up pieces. I wish they had more shrimp in it, but they were still good and filling. I had the avocado curry seafood (2* spice). It was a tad salty by itself, but it was SO good with rice. The menu doesn't indicate what type of seafood is in the meal, so I had to ask the waitress before ordering. It comes with 5 pieces of shrimp, 2 scallops, 2 mussels, 2 small pieces of salmon, and 2 small cut up pieces of squid. My husband had the sweet and sour chicken (2* spice). It's not like the stuff you get from other Asian restaurants, where they serve you chicken coated with batter and sauce on the side. See photo. My husband said it was really good.
