This is one of my favorite sushi spots in the CSRA! Really love the southwest Tex-Mex type fusion they have on their menu. This makes it easier to dine with friends and family that don't particularly enjoy sushi. Although if they are new to the sushi experience this would be a great place to take them so they can explore the different options they have. I once brought a friend who didn't like sushi here and they tried a flash fried breaded sushi roll to start with and loved it. From then on they continued to venture to the other rolls and now they love sushi! They do offer outdoor seating and have another location in Augusta that is a little smaller but still very good. Definitely give this place a try if your in the mood for sushi, nachos, taquitos or even a good burger. Another one of my favorite appetizers is their tempura Asparagus. read more

So this is still the best sushi in town. I know it's a chain, but I have yet to be dissatisfied. There are two, one in surrey center and this one, off Belair, which is, I think is the better of the two. And if you are like me, not a very big sushi person at first, but they sold me when they let you fry the whole roll. That was my way of easing into it, now I eat it normally. I love the fried asparagus that, I think the sauce on top makes it a great bite, and it's always crispy. The potstickers are great as well. For sushi, I'm a fan of the Kevin roll. The crispy shrimp in the center helps provide crunch to sushi which I enjoy. They have a lot to choose from so try them all. As far as the "taco" part of the house, it's a southwestern style not traditional Mexican. Which is good, but I'm a traditionalist, but it was still good. Had taquitos, and they were good and a great option when you have that one friend who doesn't eat seafood but goes with you to a sushi place...lol. I would definitely recommend this place for good sushi. read more

Very impressive restaurant and excellent service. I never been before,but I heard good things about this place so I gave it a try. The moment you walk through the door, the servers greet you immediately and get everything ready for you. I have to say with all honesty, the miso soup wasn't all I expected. UPDATE: I have changed by review from 4 to 3 stars because I just cannot seem to have good luck with the service here. Made a visit today at lunch with a friend (both in uniform), and our waitress was nice and friendly - great. We were in sort of s hurry, so we made our order and requested the checks at the same time - I also ordered a roll to go for a coworker that was stuck at work for lunch - separate check. So, when we start paying the checks, I pay cash for the single roll (as it was for someone else, she just gave me the money), and for my and my friend's checks, we both paid with our cards. The waitress brings back the first one (cash) as we hadn't gotten our cards out yet for the other two checks, before she took that one (which was fine). After she came back with that change and I got my card out, my friend and I both notice that there is no military discount on any of the checks (but she hadn't gotten her card out to pay yet). When the waitress came back, we mentioned it, and she said "Oh.... you're right, I'm so sorry about that". No problem, she takes all of the checks over to the manager and returns a few moments later. She tells us that the check that was paid in cash she wasn't able to do anything about because since it was cash, the ticket was already closed out.... That really isn't my problem, but since I'm in uniform, I'm trying not to make a fuss over a few cents. So okay... Then she tells my friend that hers is good to go (remember, she hadn't paid yet). Mine however, she says they basically have to reverse the charge (3-10 business days), and recharge me for the new, adjusted amount... Again.......... NOT MY PROBLEM, FIX IT. This is not the first time I've had issues with the service here - its like the waitstaff just doesn't pay attention or they don't care. Moral of the story is: check your ticket before you pay and make sure that if you had any coupons or discounts, that they are applied - otherwise it'll be a pain in the you know what. read more

We have been here numerous times now after moving to Augusta. This is our favorite sushi place in the area. You can't see it right away because it's tucked behind the shopping area. It's a small place, but it's always busy when we go for lunch or dinner. Today, we started with the asparagus tempura! It's one of my favorites along with the potstickers. Must try either one! For lunch, we had the bento box with the pyramid roll, chefs selection of fish, and added on a spicy tuna roll! It was absolutely delicious. They fish has always been fresh and tasty, the rolls are well put together and fairly priced. We've also had the Greenville roll, crunchy roll, and the biggest loser roll. All have been great! They also have a great drink selection and awesome margaritas! I will admit we have not tried any of the Mexican items on the menu. I've heard they're great but we always end up going with sushi! The service and management is always so friendly and informative. We have never had any problems with food or service here! Can't wait to go back again! read more

Went here with the family for an early birthday dinner, and really enjoyed my meal. We had some martinis and sushi, and it was all very scrumptious to say the least. The concept of it being sushi and Mexican in one place was a bit odd, but I guess it works for those who can't make up their mind. Our favorite sushi spot and it's great to bring people who don't like sushi cause they have a Mexican side to the menu which is very good as well. We enjoy the stuffed jalapeños as an appetizer and the Jesse Roll and Greenville roll are my favorites. Husband likes the chop chop roll with cucumber on the specials page. We came here this time on a Friday at 6:30 and it was just starting to get busy. It's not a very large place. Most times when we come there isn't much of a wait though. It's Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with the restaurant full of people. You can hear the kitchen staff cussing at each other and physically fighting in the back this goes on for over 5 minutes and everyone just acts like it's not happening. There's a 12-year-old kid beside me sitting there in shock listening to screaming and fighting in the back while everyone in the restaurant is waiting on their food. There is no management staff here of any sort and the food quality is very inconsistent at best. Once upon a time this restaurant was unique and offered high quality food, now 80% of your food goes into the microwave before it comes to your table. I will never return to the dumpster fire of a restaurant or any of the other ones because they all have the same problems lately. read more

At first glance you would think this concept could not work, but it worked wonderfully. This was our first time in this restaurant so the waitress took hr time to explain the menu and everything that we could order. It really helped us feel comfortable even though the menu is quite large. For an appetizer we had the Tempura Asparagus which was awesome! My husband had the Pork Tacos and I had the Crazy Roll and both tasted incredible. The service was the best we have experienced in Augusta and the taste of the food was just icing on the cake. My schedule got a bit sideways yesterday, meaning that I took *waaaay* too long to eat lunch after a much-needed bike ride. While driving around with a ravenous alien trying to claw its way out of my abdomen, I saw the TacoSushi sign briefly appear on the electronic display, had a flashback to other great experiences at their other location, and decided to stop in. Since I showed up at a time in between normal meal times, I was able to quickly grab a seat at the bar. My server, James, quickly got my attention with a menu and the drinks selections. I decided on a Dead Guy Rogue Ale accompanied by a starter of guacamole with chips and a Logan Roll (fried scallop with a somewhat spicy house TakoSushi sauce). The guacamole was very fresh with just enough cilantro to make it fragrant without punching my tongue with a Cilantro Upper Cut. Add to that the fact that finding a fellow gamer nerd in James made for some conversation a la "Attack of the Show" that would send most normal women running away from the bar. :) The Logan Roll was OK. However, my sitting at the bar pulled the curtain back somewhat to reveal what the Wizzurd of TakoSushi was actually doing. I cannot say for certain whether he did this with my roll, but I did catch him microwaving some eel for another customer's order. Bad Wizzurd. Bad, *naughty* Wizzurd! If customers want something microwaved, they would stay at home and do it themselves. Watching this firsthand got me doubting about my roll since it too had a heated component. It also got me wondering about the integrity of the product. This was a bad move on their part because I now can't say for certain about whether this is standard business practice or not. From this experience, my sincerest wish for this TakoSushi is to donate their microwaves to GoodWill and never let them come back. Otherwise, I cannot with a clear conscience recommend this location because the freshness of the product is now in my own mind very much in doubt. read more

Today I returned to one of my favorite restaurants after a 10-month deployment and the food was top notch as always. I savored each bite because the fried asparagus and Krazy roll were simply delicious. And to make the entire dining experience even better, the manager supported this troop by giving me a complimentary meal to welcome me home. My honey and I headed over here for dinner date night. We were greeted warmly by Corey the hostess and were seated right away. Our waitress Candace presented us with menus for us to pore over. For starters we had the veggie egg rolls with dipping sauce and V.O. Roll topped with wasabi pepper vinaigrette. The veggie egg rolls was scrumptious, nice crunch factor, hot, and married well with the sauce. The. V.O roll is shrimp tempura, crab, asparagus wrapped in seaweed and rice. Unfortunately this roll was mushy, soft, and sticky which did not hold well with chopsticks to dip into the soy sauce. I was not impressed since it fell apart. For dinner, I ordered the firecracker shrimp served with Asian salad and rice. When our waitress brought our entrees, I saw that it was beautifully presented on the plate which had me salivate in my mouth. I could not wait to dig in lol. There was a nice abundance of 9 jumbo tempura fried crustacean with spicy bada bing sauce. My sweetie had the steak takos which consists of 10oz of grilled angos flank served fajita style with ranch beans and rice. Candace was on the button on refilling the coke and very accommodating to asking how our meals were. My sweetie thoroughly enjoyed his spread and felt that it hit the spot. My fare was gratifying, rich, sweet, spicy and titillating. I applause the cook for making my stomach and meal experience content. Great customer service and I will be back!! The restaurant is small but welcoming! Our waitress was pleasant and had great knowledge of the menu and food in general. We ordered the Crazy Caprese Salad. It was delicious! It included ahi tuna, mozzarella, and tomato over a bed of cucumbers. The ingredients were fresh and the vinegarette was tasty! The tempura asparagus was coated in panko and fried perfectly! It came with teriyaki drizzle and a dynamite sauce. The jalapeño poppers were large and a bit spicier than I like. Great little place. Was in town on a trip and found this little gem based on being there with some locals. Very interesting and diverse menu. Think of eclectic Mexican get's slammed with a Sushi Bar and BAAAAM, there you have it. Not being a sushi person, I stuck to the Mexican side and the dish was wonderful. I had the Chicken tamales and they were jam packed with flavor. A little spicier than I expected, but not over the top and was a great flavor. Other's at the table had the sushi which was loved and if you like soup's you have to try the Sumo Soup. Is one of the flagship dishes at this place. Service was fantastic, went during lunch and was not too terribly busy and the service was outstanding.
