Honestly, Tako does it all. Whether you want yoga that calms the mind and cools you down; yoga that fires you up and gets you moving; yoga that restores and rescues your aching back and tight hips from the drudgery of a 9 - 5; yoga that makes you sweat and leaves you sore for the next three days; yoga that helps you deepen your spiritual practice; yoga that explores the physics and spiritual history of sound and its relationship to movement; or just yoga that gets you fit and flexi, Tako is the instructor for you. And during my time with Tako, I've needed all of those things at some point. Whatever your body needs, whatever your personal movement/yoga goals and interests are, Tako can pretty much do it all.
I've done both one-on-one and small group sessions with Tako, and I would highly recommend either. He is immensely knowledgeable about physiology, injury prevention, and movement fundamentals, and is always down to review basics or help students explore trickier poses and sequences. (Note: Tako also loves any excuse to go upside down, so if you're interested in learning or strengthening inversions, Tako would be an invaluable resource for that).
As a professional (and also injury-prone) dancer with significant congenital issues in my legs and feet, working with Tako has been crucial for me. My balance, pliability, recovery and movement focus have all improved while working with him. He's great at taking inventory of where his students are physically and emotionally, and then scaffolding his yoga sequences based on that. Tako is exceptionally attentive, and has a progress/goal-oriented approach to movement; but even for someone like myself, who tends to be more exploratory and experimental rather than goal-oriented, Tako finds a great balance between letting his students play in their comfort zone, and challenging them to deepen and expand their practice.
TLDR: Take yoga with Tako. You will only regret having not tried it. read more
