Then I found Valerie Loo, and wow--she's incredible! Instead of just treating the pain, she finds what's out of alignment and teaches me how to correct it using Counter-shapes tailored to my body's unique movement patterns (quirks really). I don't think I've ever worked with a PT who truly understands how everything is connected. One time, my shoulder was hurting, and she had me do a foot exercise--not touching my shoulder at all-- the pain went away. So wild! What she teaches is like self-massage that actually gets to the knot--not just by pressing on it, but by using movements to retrain my body. Now, the pain stays away for days! And when it sneaks back in, I know exactly what to do to reset and feel good again! Valerie doesn't just "hand me the fish" so to speak--she teaches me how to fish, so I can take care of my body (at home) instead of relying on constant treatments. So grateful for this woman and her work. If you've noticed limits in your movement or want to move better while improving your posture and alignment, this is for you. She calls her method "prehab" (preventative rehab)-- it's a game-changer!

Our work together has gone far beyond getting out of pain. Valerie's understanding of the body is unparalleled. She has an incredible gift for recognizing how to improve alignment - identifying patterns that pull us out of alignment and teaching very precise Counter-shapes that help us regain alignment. Not only have I eliminated the hip pain, but I've regained mobility I didn't know I had lost! I haven't felt this good physically in many years, and the journey with Valerie is just beginning. The unexpected, and truly wonderful, aspect of working with Valerie is the strong community of people who work with her in small group settings. I learn from my fellow students in each class. It's a gift that's benefitting my life every day.

Oh yes!.....the receptionist assured me. We do all that. Ok, I make an appointment. I fill out ALL the paperwork. I pay the extra money for the initial intake appointment. Then I see the doctor..... Then starts lecturing me on my weight ( which is EDEMA!!!........Duh, do an assessment ) Sells me some random supplement and then refers me to another chiropractor that DOES offer applied kinesiology! Ok, why didn't they do that over the phone when I specifically called and asked?! Why waste my time and cost me money? *Sigh

Pilates is the preferred method of rehab and core strengthening, and Alissa is the right person to get that job done. I have had the pleasure of experiencing her work first hand, and seeing amazing results with my patients, which gives me great confidence knowing she is capable and knowledgeable to handle the most delicate cases. These are unique characteristics not found in my instructors. I highly recommend this dedicated professional not only because she is good at what she does, but also because she has a wide knowledge base and most importantly... a caring heart.

Since I moved I tried a new instructor and it made everything worse!! So now I'm in physical therapy, doing really well, and guess what exercises I'm doing with my PT? The same ones that Alissa would run me through! I so wish I could continue to see Alissa for the amazing whole body workout and seriously, the stress would just melt away! I miss you Alissa xoxoxo!

But I will try now, because this place and the beautiful kind hearted women who run this business, Tai and Clo, truly saved my life. In 2017 I was sexually assaulted and at my absolute rock bottom physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I felt dead and hopeless. I searched on yelp for a chiropractor and massage therapist and came across AdvanceHealth. The good reviews I read on Yelp made me feel safe enough to at least make an initial appointment, and I'm so very glad I did. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I look back on that time period of my life often, and I view my decision to receive care at AdvanceHealth as a true turning point in my healing journey. In the years since being a regular patient, I have been able to make so much progress in my healing journey, and I don't know if it would have been possible had I not had Clo and Tai as part of my care team, cheering me on, giving their guidance, and their excellent healing hands! I am so lucky that Clo and Tai were the people I met when I walked through the doors of AdvanceHealth. They became my safe havens, confidants, and friends. They helped me feel safe in my body again, they made me feel heard and validated, and they embraced me exactly as I was during the lowest point of my life. They made me feel like a person again, instead of a ghost haunted by the traumas past. They are also true experts in their crafts! Clo is my favorite chiropractor in the world and Tai is the best massage therapist I have ever had. They are emotionally intelligent, compassionate, empathetic, and also very funny and truly delightful to spend time with. Clo and Tai have the biggest hearts, and truly care about every single one of their patients. There are so many dishonest and uncaring health care providers out there, but these two are literal angels from heaven. Pinky promise! If you have ever considered chiropractic care or massage therapy and are hesitant to start, let my review be a sign that you should take the leap :)
