Not impressed with the lack of communication between the nursing staff and doctors. The nurses know what's going on, but don't communicate their observations to the doctors. I don't know if that's policy, but it should change. Everyone just reads the doctor's notes and doesn't seem to evaluate the patient and what else is going on. My mother went in for surgery on Tuesday. The nurse was unable to draw blood or insert the IVs due to my mother's small veins. The anesthesiologist inserted both IVs but missed a vein, causing complications following the surgery. My mother's arm was bruised (to be expected) and grossly swollen, oozing blood and fluid and developed blisters. Several nurses noticed this but never mentioned it to any of the doctors. One nurse even commented the IV wasn't in the vein and removed that IV. She was in the hospital 4 days. The day she was released we ended up going to urgent care because we thought her arm looked infected. The urgent care nurse practitioner suggested we go back to the hospital. We ended up going to the Marana satellite office because it was closer. That doctor said he thought she may have a blood clot, but said they did not have an ultrasound machine available on the weekends to look at it, and neither did the La Cholla hospital location. We called the surgeon's office to let them know what was happening. They said the La Cholla hospital did indeed have an ultrasound available, so we ended up going back there. After the ultrasound and waiting for 4 hours without ever being seen by a doctor or nurse to evaluate her arm Melanie came in to discharge us. I said, well, I guess she doesn't have a blood clot. She said, has no one been in here to talk to you, we said no, and asked her to look at my mother's arm. She diagnosed my mother with extravasation. She called a doctor who came in and said she'd evaluated my mother's arm and also, no clot. The doctor had never evaluated my mother's arm, maybe the results of the ultrasound, but had never actually looked at her arm. So that was a flat out lie So thank you Melanie. I do recommend Melanie in outpatient ER. She is amazing and needs to be recognized.

I was trying to get to see another doctor but was then randomly called several months after scheduling my appointment with that doctor to be told that she is not accepting new patients. So I was instead scheduled with Dr. Rodriguez, as she had an immediate opening, so I took it. Check-in was simple and can be done online or in person. For the appointment itself, the doctor was late by about 20 mins. Once she arrived, we discussed my issues, and then she went through a checklist of various tests and things, asking when the last time was when I had those done. She checked a bunch of things off as we went through and then eventually ordered an abdominal ultrasound, blood and urine samples, and provided a referral to a dermatologist and my OBGYN. I did not want referrals for other doctors, so I didn't like that too much. I've already established my OBGYN, and I am not interested in visiting a dermatologist at this time. I wanted to focus on the issue at hand, so I didn't appreciate that part of the visit. Overall, though, she was knowledgeable and was able to put a rush on the tests that were ordered. I think going forward, as long as she is not too pushy with referrals all the time, I'll keep seeing her for the time being.

I lost my only child almost 5 years ago. I struggle falling asleep every night. After trying many medications, Xanax was the only thing that helped me. I was taking a low dosage before bed so I could fall asleep. She refused to give me a prescription for it, but instead referred me to a "sleep study". A sleep study!! I know why I can't fall asleep!! I asked her if she knew the trauma I've been through!!! She said yes, put her hand on my shoulder and asked "do you have other children?" What kind of a doctor says that to a grieving mother? She did not show me any empathy or seem to care for me at all. I will never step foot in that office again. I since have found someone who truly cares about my wellbeing. The case managers don't want to order durable medical equipment for your loved one. All the while yelling at everyone to get them out of the hospital. Finding a GP I'm comfortable with is important. So glad I found one of the good ones. If looking for a good Dr with a caring heart, he's my recommendation.
