Potential applicants should do their homework before considering employment with this franchise…read more Based on what I personally witnessed and experienced, I observed what I believe to be unfair and racism also inconsistent treatment of employee, which left me with serious concerns about the workplace culture and management decisions. I am particularly troubled by what appeared to be disparities in how certain employees were treated, as well as hiring decisions that, in my opinion, did not always prioritize the most qualified candidates. These observations are based solely on my personal experiences and perceptions. I intend to discuss these concerns directly with Mike and management. I encourage anyone considering employment here to read employee reviews, ask questions during the hiring process, and make an informed decision for themselves.

Stay away. I went in for a simple muffler replacement (verified by 2 other shops). They quoted me…read more$250 & said they had the muffler in stock. When I arrived, Steve said he had it put on a lift and they "discovered" that all of the pipes and joints were so rusty, that he was afraid that when he started cutting into it, that basically the entire undercarriage would have to be replaced : large rear muffler, large front muffler, the small muffler we spoke about, ALL the piping and "probably more". I asked how much and was told "at least $1200". They said they'd order the parts for the next day. When I left, I could hear odd knocking on the bottom and the smell of exhaust in the front cabin that wasn't there before, or ever. I called back the next day to report this and was blown off with "ma'am, you have an exhaust leak and the knocking you are hearing is because you probably drove over something". I knew then they were not on the up and up, so I played along and asked if my parts came in. They said yes, all but one. I asked what they were missing and was told "a part". He kept saying "just a part" but would not tell me WHAT part. Finally I was forceful and told him I needed the name of "the part". . Steve finally said, the Catalytic Converter. Horses***!. He said I needed that too. Tack on another several hundred dollars, plus labor. Scammers! I took it somewhere else the next morning, and the only thing it needed was the muffler, parts & labor $95. I've heard of stories like this, but, wow, the level of deception was criminal.

Good Service. Great People. Honest. Understanding…read more I broke down mid road trip in little ol' Christiansburg VA. I was worried about finding an honest mechanic in a town I had never been to especially because I had no time to do research. Modern Automotive was the first place that came up in Google and I went there. I was in good hands. I first spoke with Thomas Morris who immediately put me at ease with his honesty and genuine problem-solving attitude. I left my car with them and continued on my trip in a rental. Through a series of MY mistakes and lack of ability to figure out how to get my car back once they had completed the work, it was left there for far more than the original time I thought it would be. But they were extremely gracious with me and helped me figure out a good solution. During this time I spoke much with Chuck Swain (Owner) over the phone. He was incredibly generous, good-hearted and honest toward me. It was so refreshing to meet honest businessmen like these, and I would recommend their service to anyone. Thank you guys.

They told me I would need to leave it there all morning but what they really meant was that they didn't have the time to do it. At 1pm they admitted that they wouldn't be getting to it any time soon. Instead they handed me my keys back with a smile as if my business was a complete bother to them.
