When my mom moved down earlier this year with an older car we also had her take her vehicle to Clarke's Automotive, which is now mostly run by Bob's son Matt. After a few months being here, she needed some repairs due to normal maintenance as well as repairs to the underside of the vehicle. For a month and a half, the car was back and forth to Clarke's Automotive. It seemed for awhile that we may have been being taken advantage of with the amount of repairs, their cost and the continuious back and forth to the shop. Bob Clarke stepped in, explained what was going on with the vehicle and we came to the mutual conclusion that it was time to move on from that car. He then took the time to go over with us what type of car we should be looking for, the process in this new day and age of car shopping, etc. If Bob had not stopped in, we feel we may have still been putting money in a car that was not worth the cost to repair and would have been taken advantage of.

I called to report it and sent pictures to show. Was told that the technician noticed that it was loose, but never tightened, removed, or mentioned it on reports. It said it might have come off during test drives. Billie Jo agreed and said they'll see about replacing it. Waited for weeks, but no responses. I guess they decided to not be responsible but never updated me. I am ghosted......Poor Customer service.

But they have gotten very careless, admittedly leaving a tool in my tire well which was discovered while supposedly repairing a coolant leak due to the radiator. 3 days later a worse coolant leak and now it's supposedly the water pump. $3000 later, my car is not leaking but they failed to put the motor cover on and just left it in my trunk. This is not the professional service of the past and the response was so dismissive that it's disappointing.

Scott Bennett did…read morea thorough job going through my car and made several recommendations, including two new tires, replacing the windshield wiper device, and a couple of other things; I did NOT need a tune-up! All of the services suggested would have been over $900, which I was unable to do at the time. So Scott explained the most important things to get fixed, which he did do, and also suggested I shop around for the tires since I needed to go with the most affordable available. Aside from the fact that Scott's work is excellent, I am most impressed with his honesty and integrity! At no time did he try to sell me anything that I didn't need, or pressure me into getting work done that could wait. He could easily have told me I needed an expensive tune-up, and I would have believed him. But he did not. Auto mechanics are a dime a dozen, and we all know one or two of them. Many of them will take blatant and unscrupulous advantage of their customers' lack of knowledge. However, fair, decent and ethical mechanics are not easily found. I cannot recommend Bennett's Auto Care highly enough! Based on my experience, I can assure you that your service will be done excellently, and with integrity and honesty.
