Whenever I need a oil change or get new windshield wipers, I just go to Take 5 which is more convenient than taking the vehicle to the dealership. So, when I went on Sunday, I waited for a few minutes and the service guy told me the wait be a little long because a couple of people called out. It was just 2 of them working. I expressed concerns with a couple of things with my vehicle due to the mileage and not only did he assist me with those concerns but he went above and beyond to make sure it was at a price that fit my budget. Lesson of the day: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR to Take 5 oil change on Erlich Road. I went there to get my oil changed and the air filter swapped out. As soon as we left, my car died in the middle of Erlich Road! Putting me and my daughter in danger of possibly getting rear ended and it was raining so badly! I had to get my car towed to Toyota. Thank God Triple A got there within 15 minutes! I found out they broke a component that flows the air to my engine and that's why my car locked down. A 388 dollar mistake that they made and leaving me without a car. The only reason I am not completely angry about this is because Troy provided excellent customer service. Took my VW Jetta to this location to get an oil change before heading from Tampa to Ft. Lauderdale for the weekend. It wasn't long after I was back in St. Pete from my trip that my transmission went out. Immediately went to the Take 5 on 4th street in St. Pete and was told the oil drain plug wasn't put on correctly and that caused a complete oil leakage from the engine. They gave me a new oil change for free. Took my car to our family mechanic and confirmed transmission and turbo needed to be replaced. Called Take 5 on Kennedy and explained what happened and was offered a refund for my original oil change. They did not take responsibility for what happened. Looking back, I should have escalated the issue to Corporate. Instead, I ended up with over $6K in out-of-pocket expenses to fix my vehicle. read more

Usually have a fine experience here. Today I came at about 9:15 and waited a full hour before they even started working on my car. Daryll who was working was not in a pleasant mood and was yelling at the other worker CJ about something cussing very loudly. He also kept taking breaks leaving CJ alone and checking his phone. This may have been business related but either way he was overall super unprofessional and unfriendly. CJ was great and apologized for the wait. I have been going to Take 5 Oil Change off Kennedy for the last three of my oil changes and they do such an amazing job, I figure they deserve a shoutout. I pull up and the guys immediately assist me. As a woman who knows little about car mechanics, it's easy to get the feeling the car guy might be trying to scam you. Not here. They even give me tips on how not to get ripped off by other car places. They even noticed I had my check engine light on (which does not have anything to do with an oil change) and they told me where to go to get it fixed and what to ask for. I was greeted very nicely when I first pulled up, but took 45 minutes before they even pulled me in and another 10 minutes to acknowledge me again. After nearly an hour, they finally got started on my car. They told me that I had to have the full premium synthetic oil which was twice the price. So I pulled out my previous oil change receipt and showed that I just had the regular 5W20. They said they don't recommend that for any cars after 2006, and said that I would have to sign a waiver if they were to put the regular oil in my car (a Hyundai Elantra). Thank goodness, I insisted on the regular and then pulled out my owners manual and showed them that regular 5W20 was the recommended oil. After I pulled out the manual the guy was mad that I didn't fall for his upsell and walked away. When I was finally done, I told the other guy how inappropriate it was that the first guy, Alex, lied to me about needing the premium oil. At that time, Alex saw me talking to that guy and said "get her ass out of here." I told him I would quote him on that on my review, and he bragged that he was the assistant manager, so it didn't matter. Please do not go here! They lie to you and try to upsell, even when you have the documents to prove that you don't need it. And then him telling me what he did, even the other guy was shocked at how terribly he was treating me. read more

I took it in for an oil change on 06/22/2024. drove my car for couple of days started to smell oil burning in my car looked underneath my car all of my oil had leaked out my car, they didn't tighten my oil plug back and caused my car to go into low power engine mode couldn't drive my car the whole weekend, ended up taking it to my mechanic to be replace, went back up there for a refund. Trust me - don't believe the 4 to 5 star reviews you see on here. Expected but still should not happen, these people and company as a whole is out to make money off you. They will try and up-sell anything and everything to you no matter what. It's just the way it is but still very sad and aggravating. Please read below my last experience with them. And from what I have heard before, lots of other people have had similar experiences at this place. I pulled in to get my oil change and the guy working their asked what kind of oil change I wanted. I wasn't 100% sure what I got last time I visited this same Take 5 Oil Change so I told him to do the same oil change I got the last time I was there; which was around 4 months ago. By the way - that oil change was the $42.99 oil change - more on that later. So he said yes, I see what you got lets go ahead and get that going. While they were doing my oil change, of course he comes with the "you air filter is dirty, would you like to get it replaced?" question. I politely declined. But then he also asked if I want my window wipers replaced. I said yes, because they did need to be replaced. He said they were $12.99 When my oil was finished and replaced and my window wipers were replaced, he told me my bill was $108. But what he didn't tell me was that he decided to give me an oil treatment that was more expensive and not the same one that I got last time. This one was $79.99. I double checked my receipt from my last visit and the one I asked for and was suppose to get should have been the $42.99 one. Also, he failed to tell me that the window wipers were $12.99 for each not for the pair. What a jerk and slimy way of tricking someone to think when they say "We can replace your window wipers for $12.99" that it's actually going to be $12.99 and not $25.98. What a sneaky bastard. So what should have been an oil change that I requested and a pair of window wiper being around $56.00 wound up being over $100. What a rip-off and untrustworthy people. To end this bad experience, they slapped on a sticker for my next oil change and it was for 3,000 miles or in 3 months. What crooks. You have been warned. You will be fooled into getting items you don't need or want or just tricked and lied to about pricing. read more
