I had a very frustrating and disappointing experience with Take 5 Oil Change in Barberton. After receiving service at this location, I later had my vehicle inspected at Infiniti of Akron on March 26 during a multipoint inspection. The dealership documented that the differential fluid in my vehicle was not the correct viscosity, which can potentially cause damage over time. They provided me with written documentation of this issue. Based on that, I submitted a claim to Take 5 corporate requesting reimbursement for $172.41 so I could have the differential service properly completed at Infiniti. I was told I would receive a response within 5 business days. By April 2, I had heard nothing--no call, no email, no update. I then went back to the Barberton location on April 4 and spoke with the manager, Chris. He informed me that my claim had already been denied because he personally performed the service and believes the correct oil was used. He also stated that I should have received an email, which I never did. This is extremely concerning. I provided official documentation from a certified Infiniti dealership, yet my claim was denied without communication or proper follow-up. The lack of accountability and poor customer service is unacceptable. I trusted Take 5 with my vehicle, and now I'm left dealing with the consequences and paying out of pocket. At this point, I will be escalating this matter by filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's Office. I would not recommend this location to anyone. read more

Incompetent staff that prey on women! I went to this location for an oil change. They said I needed a coolant flush. I said no. The tech said they would not do my oil change without a coolant service. I was pressured to do to the service until I relented. There was also another lady beside me getting the same high pressure sales tactic to do the coolant service. I left and went right home. The next morning on my way to work the heater wasn't working and the thermostat climbed into the red. I had to pull off the highway and limp my car along until I found a safe spot. It was 15° out and I had to wait there for a tow truck. The manager of the shop admitted to not filling my vehicle up and completing the coolant service to my husband. When my oil filter wouldn't come off Mikayla called her manager, who was off for the weekend. She apologized and gave me a 50% off coupon to come back the next day when he was in! How sweet! When I came back Jacoby was able to get my car taken care of quickly. Mikayla recognized me and came over to say hello, which was quite kind of her! Both Jacoby and Mikayla were very professional, kind, and made sure there was nothing else that I needed. I gave them both five stars! Thanks for being amazing! read more

This place is being run by a bunch of children in party mode. With an oil change, they neglected lected to fill my windshield washer fluid yet assured me it was complete. I went back a few days later on a Monday at noon. The bay doors were open, but I was informed they were not yet open and they had a lot going on. When would they be open? No answer. Okay. You will not be getting my business again. read more

"The Oil Change" aka the bane of my existence. Having a job that keeps me driving all day means I see a lot of them too. Oil changes aren't cheap dates either lemme tell ya. A typical synthetic blend will set you back a good $50+. So, if I am gonna spend that kinda dough, I want the good stuff, I want it done correctly and I want it done in a decent period of time. I have never been to a Take5 location, so I figured I'd give them a shot. Pulled up to this location and was immediately ushered into bay 1 by DJ. He welcomed me with a smile and handed myself and my business partner a bottle of water to enjoy while they worked their magic. I thought that was a nice touch! A cup of coffee woulda been better, but hey lol it's better than a sharp stick in the eye. Overall I would say I had a very good experience here. Everyone was friendly, they were not pushy to change wipers and air filters (almost every place does everything but shove them down your throat) and they did it in a somewhat reasonable period of time (in at 10:09am and out at 10:42.) I expected a much faster turnaround time, but they had all 3 bays full so I figure I should let it slide this time. The only true complaint I have is that no one checked my tire pressure, my headlights/signals and they didn't top off my windshield washer fluid. If I am paying $64 with tax, I expect that to be done. Hell, Walmart will even do that for me. I definitely will come back again and see how it goes the second time. read more

Pros: the crew here was really awesome to work with. The gentleman who took point was very friendly, informative, and knew his stuff. Got me a bottled water while I waited. That was a nice touch. The rest of the guys busted their hump to get me in and out of there in less than ten minutes. Topped off my fluids and checked/filled tire pressure as well. Also, completely off topic, they share a name with the most underrated candy bar of all time. That's gotta be worth something! Cons: Price! Price! Price! I have a Hyundai with over 140,000 miles, so I went with the Castrol GTX High Mileage partial synthetic. That was $56.93 for the service. There was also a $1.95 "shop supplies" fee, whatever that is. You think that would be built into the price. But I digress. Then I was told I have a "special" oil filter that requires a $7.99 extra charge, and also my car takes 5.5 quarts as opposed to the 5 quarts that the change comes with. So they tacked on another $3.49 for that. After taxes, I was out the door (or the bay) at $75.11 total. For perspective, I usually have a scheduled oil change with the people at Tire Source in North Canton. Down there, it's $29.99 plus tax, with no add on fees. Not only that, but you also get a tire rotation included in that price. Visiting Take 5 cost me an additional $45 from what I'm used to paying. And it also means I'm gonna need to spend another $20 for a tire rotation. Conclusion: If cost isn't an issue, and you don't need a tire rotation with your oil change, these guys are awesome. Quick, friendly, quality work. However, for those of us who live in a world where $45 matters, or you get your tires rotated with your oil change, this probably isn't the spot for you. If I get a coupon or the price comes down, I would love to give this place my business on the regular. read more

They broke my hood latch, panel, lost the clips for the panel and don't even try to fix it.. they just slapped it back on there and sent me on my way. I called in the next day to see if they could fix it and they told me to go somewhere else to fix it. read more

I was having trouble getting my car to pass ECHeck. I stopped into the store on S. Arlington Akron, Oh in the morning for an E Check reading. However, the car needed additional cycles in order to read. Later that day, I stopped at the Take 5 closest to my house, #149 1980 W. Market St. Much to delight and surprise, Jerry had run over to this store for the afternoon. He recognized the car. Who works two stores in one day?
