Loved it! Definitely better than the other Indian place in the area. The staff is extremely courteous and professional. Prices and portion sizes are comparable to Jewel of India, however the food is more authentic and tastes fresher! They also do Indo-Chinese food, which is spiced up Indian take on Chinese, and is actually quite popular in NYC and India. I love the Gobhi Manchurian, Channa Masala.My family loves their Paneer Masala. It's a takeout place, with a few park-benches outside, so keep that in mind. read more

Food no way close to Indian food. No salt and no spices. Chicken bhuna was sweet. Pakodas were re-fried with no salt in it.

Very spicy food for medium option ! Vegetable biryani had Chana Masala and Rajma Masala gravy mixed in it!!! The food came out in 15 min and looks like they just wrap up with remaining food and doubt if food is fresh. read more

Small mom and pop establishment. Only take out Indian and Chinese with a decent range of options. Simple but tasty fare, with a hint of mom's cooking flair to it. I always pick up from here when I'm in the upper valley. I'm not sure if it's the only Indian restaurant in the area, but the food is definitely on par with restaurants in CT. read more

I was thankful just to find Indian food in this area, but even more enthused to discover that it is consistently delicious Indian food that reminds me of home! The prices are reasonable for the serving size, I always look forward to leftovers for the next day. The couple of people I've interacted with when picking up my order are always friendly - love finding nice family establishments. hands down some of the best Indian food I've ever had. their samosas and chutneys are literally mouth watering and their main dishes are always fresh and delicious. My husband often orders lamb dishes on the spicier side and they're always perfectly seasoned. I order the chicken and veg dishes and have a difficult time choosing the preparation! their Korma is one of my favorites as is their chicken tikka masala. after poor experiences and extraordinarily high prices at the Jewel of India, this authentic takeout place is truly a gem. read more

Tried the place on our Falliage trip to Vermont.. the place had great reviews.. but to our surprise not even one of the items we had matched those reviews.. maybe plain bad luck!! V had samosa chaat which was the ok of all of them though bit soggy.. next was paneer chilli manchurian which was horrible.. it was like big pieces of paneer in a manchurian soup.. next was chicken briyani.. again it was wet and not anywhere close to a biryani.. then was gobi pakoda.. again soggy and not tasty.. and the final was fried rice.. rice was half cooked and tasted pretty bad.. read more

We ordered the Navratan curry and garlic naan. The curry was good but the naan was dry and lacked flavor.

We decided on this place once we got settled in to our hotel room. We were surprised to find no seating available and that we had to go back to the hotel room to eat. Once we got there we realized there were no utensils and we had to pull out our camping gear to eat (thankfully we had it). That said, the food was delicious. We ordered the chicken saag (best dish overall), aloo gobhi and also saag (both great). The only problem was that my husband would have liked to have more potatoes in his aloo saag. We were in White River Junction a few weeks ago and read other reviews on Yelp about this restaurant so decided to give them a try. We were very happy we did so. We live in Hawaii so our access to Indian food is limited. We enjoyed their food so much, we ordered it again 2 nights later! We enjoyed the Lamb Curry, Chicken Vindaloo, Aloo Gobhi, Tandoori Chicken and Garlic Naan. All fabulous and perfectly seasoned! They also give generous portions. We had so much food the first time, that we saved it and enjoyed it cold the next day for a picnic lunch and it still tasted fantastic. This says a lot for a restaurant when their food even tastes great as cold leftovers! Highly recommend them and when back in the area, will definitely be back for more. read more

Overall this place was decent when it comes to taste, nothing to write home about. I expected more because other reviewers felt that Taj-E is better than Jewel of India which I do not agree. I actually ordered the same thing I order at Jewel and Jewel definitely carried the edge. Prices are roughly the same. FYI the Spicy/hot is not very spicy and more so medium spicy. read more

Whenever I come to Hanover, I'm restricted to the only Indian restaurant in town. But, after hearing only praise for an Indian restaurant not too far away, I decided to try it! I had my first experience with Taj yesterday when I placed an order for Malai Kofta and Gobi Manchurian. I was intrigued by the Indo-Chinese fusion it offered, and let me tell you - the taste did not disappoint by any means! Both dishes tasted so fresh, the flavors were rich, and the experience was a delight. Not to mention the wonderful customer service. Sure, there is no place to sit and you can only take-out but the quality of food and customer service make the trip worth it. I only wish they were situated in Hanover because WRJ is a little out of the way. Nonetheless, I will return to Taj! read more

The food here is awesome. Unfortunately, the last time I ordered from here, I found plastic in my food. The waitstaff asked me if I was a customer that had ordered the day before but never picked up the food. I wasn't, so I answered "no" and paid for my food.
