I went there again recently and it was just as good as before. This time the heat was significantly less (even though I asked for it to be very spicy) but the food was wonderfully spiced. It is, by far, the best south asian food I've had outside of NYC. It's definitely worth going to. A side note, it's take only and there are picnic tables outside if you're so inclined to eat there. read more

Tasty Indian food. There is a picnic table on the parking lot, but otherwise this is strictly takeout. Service isn't particularly friendly, but food is ready on time and accurate to the order. read more

Just piling on to all the positive reviews. Loved the quick and easy ordering and pickup, and the food was to my liking. I ordered the lamb curry and chicken tika masala on consecutive nights (mild) and loved both. A bit hard to find the first time but once you find it, you'll probably keep going back. read more

Great food, lamb and chicken dishes my favorites. Mango Chicken was excellent. Easy to pay on line. read more

Delishhhhh! Friendly staff, fast service, yummy food. I love that it's just takeout! We got naan, chicken tikka masala, and some samosas and it was all so freakin' good. Will be back read more

Taj E India - Chicken tikka masala, veggie samosas, chicken samosas, garlic and regular naan! - Indian Near Me - White River Junction, Vermont

When I picked up my food, it was hot, fresh and delicious. The service was prompt and friendly.

We were so happy to find this Indian restaurant while in the area. We already had dinner plans but the menu and reviews were so positive we ordered dinner to bring home the next day. Excellent Indian food. Will definitely return! read more

I had heard great things about Taj E India. Very unique setup of the restaurant- you order at a window of a house. I was a bit disappointed by the food, but would love to come back and try other dishes on the menu. Affordable prices though! read more

Great takeout. The sagg paneer was one of the best I ever had. The chicken tika masala was just ok. Real home cooking. I will definitely return. read more

Great, quick take out Indian food that warms the soul! I knew the food was gonna be very good quality based on the fact that the place was basically a house. I ordered the chicken tikka masala with rice and garlic naan. The chicken tikka masala was bursting with flavor and I ordered medium spice and it was actually a solid medium spicy! My pet peeve is when places say it's a medium spice and it is still very mild. The pieces of chicken breast were very tender, and the naan was very garlicky and tasty. My only negative thing to say was that I wish the rice was a little softer. Other than that, this is a great Indian take out place! The flavor certainly hits the spot. read more

I left 5 stars because it wouldn't let me leave 6. If you want to go to some guys house and get the most amazing Indian food in the North East, then go here. Prices are extremely reasonable. I asked for spicy and it was nice and hot (I like hot). My wife got the mild (she doesn't like hot) and was quite satisfied. We got the vegetable samosa, garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, saah paneer, mango lassi, and the honey bread ball things for dessert. Everything was amazing except the naan, which was just good. Total cost was about $40! I've been looking for a good Indian place in the area and have never been able to find one until I stumbled upon this place. And I am SO glad I did. Nothing else in the area competes for Indian food. read more

We love this place. Good food at reasonable prices. We call to order ahead and pick up our food, typically 20-30 minutes later. Our go-to choices are Navratan Curry and Chicken Jalfrezi. We have seen some people eating at the picnic table near the pick up window, but we haven't tried this. read more

Spent a day exploring an area of VT I hadn't before, not realizing that everything would be closed on a Sunday, but luckily this spot was open. We went over and grabbed a menu and then called in our order from the car (they weren't doing indoor at the time) and enjoyed it while also in the car. For a place that doesn't look like much, the food is KILLER. We got chicken tikka masala and saag paneer and both were incredible. Complex flavors, enough spice without being too hot (my husband prefers it mild and other reviews had clued us in to how to get the spice right). The naan was fluffy but still had nice leoparding and was crisp on the outside. My only regret is that we hadn't grabbed food here and brought it with us to the brewery we visited because nothing (NOTHING) beats Indian food and beer. HIGHLY recommend, don't judge a book by its cover! read more

Authentic flavors, generous portions and highly recommended. The food is only available for take out, not a sit down restaurant. I stayed in my car waiting for the call to come through to let me know the food was ready but the gentleman that either cooks or works there actually came to deliver the order to my car. This added extra kindness to my experience. read more

We are vegan and love Indian food. This is a new go-to for us. It appears to be take out only. High recommend.

Very tasty food, great prices and portions. Would recommend to anyone who likes Indian food!

Excellent food, chicken curry is excellent, saag Panera was great food portion of cheese. We really enjoyed our meal.

Taj E India is awesome!! All menu items are so good, it's hard to decide. I really miss the Aloo Chaatt that they used to make. I love how the dishes are fully flavored and authentic. Chefs kiss x10...Service is fast...we ordered dinner for 8 and the 20 menu items were in our hands within 25 minutes...Take out only so provide your own ambiance. read more

chicken dishes were delicious! and we enjoyed all of the food. would recommend eating it while it's still hot and food is reasonably priced

Went back... obviously. Multiple times. I simply must reiterate that the vegetable samosas here are truly cosmic. Like so good that I can't wait to get home to have one. If you see someone in their parking lot getting samosa crumbs all over their car, it is probably me. There is nothing better than eating a fresh samosa in a parking lot under a VT sunset. Literally. Go here. read more

Glad we found this place ! Delicious food ! Loved there chicken tikka masala and chicken curry !

Excellent food -we ordered lamb curry, baigan bhartha and two mani lassis. We forgot to order nan but that won't happen again!! We met a returning customer as we were ordering who advised us on the 'heat' and we ordered accordingly. Small hole in the wall well known in area. Diamond. read more

Always consistently good entrees and kind service. It's been over a decade of great cuisine! Unusual these days.

Among my favorite restaurants in the White River / Hanover area. Everything I've had has been good or great, and I've stopped in more than a dozen times. read more

Looks like this place does only carry out. We ordered chicken curry, lamb saag and naan with cheese. They were all good but not great. Lamb seemed fairly sparse in the saag. They can vary spice level to your liking. Gal at the door who took our order was very nice. read more

Amazing! As a friend said, "This is the real thing" Flavors come in layers, finished with the warmth of the spice. Generous portions! Vegetable samosas with a flavor complexity I have not experienced before. Chana masala, saag paneer, Baigan Bartha and Navratan curry did not disappoint! Looking forward to trying more items from their broad menu. read more

Nice spices. Easy pick up. I had the spinach, lamb, and pakoras. The pakoras were my favorite. Also the rice was flavored and also very good. My friend had the samosas and garlic naan and those were still good cold the next day. Overall I highly recommend. read more

Pleasantly surprised how spicy (when requested)and flavorful this was!!!' The best ethnic food we had up here in the past 15 years . HIGHLY recommended read more

Had another great meal Thursday. Rogon Josh, Roti and some savory Chutney. Did I mention the well prepared Basmati Rice? Yum! read more

Takeout Indian place operated from owner's residence. Food tastes more like homemade Indian food which is great as am not a fan of overtly oily and spicy (mostly uncooked spices) dishes in any regular Indian restaurant. The menu is limited which probably ensures quality control. The parathas are great, but naans and kulchas should be avoided. The menu is a little pricey for a takeout place. Bottom line: Homemade Indian food which tastes homely, but is a little too pricey for a take out place. Don't get experimental on the menu and stick to the things you liked. read more

Recently started working in White River Junction, one evening after work on a whim decided to place an order. The food was ready when I got there. All I could smell was the delicious aroma coming out of the takeout bag while I was driving home. The good was delicious with the right amount of spice and fantastic flavors. Will definitely be getting dinner from here again. I ordered the chicken Vindaloo, I got lamb curry for my wife, also order chicken biryani with nan bread. Everything was delicious. Amazing little hidden gem. read more

Taj E India is a pretty average Indian restaurant. I've eaten here several times and ordered different items, mostly the chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, and garlic naan. As many others have mentioned, Taj E India is a take-out only restaurant with a bench outside. They are open until 8 pm everyday. One thing that is quite an annoyance is that they never include utensils with their food. For a take-out establishment, utensils should be standard. The food is consistently decent but not impressive. It satisfies a craving for Indian food but leaves you feeling a little bloated after. They use a lot of cream in the masala curry. Their curries aren't that spicy, so if you like it spicy definitely order it that way. They give you a very large portion of rice with the curry. The meat is usually tender and not too dry, but the actual curry is just average. The naan gets a little too cold by the time you eat it, but it tastes fresh. I would still eat at Taj E India again. They offer a 10% discount for Dartmouth student and staff. Overall, it's a standard Indian establishment. read more

First time visiting White River Junction on work trip and Taj E India was highly recommended by multiple local co-workers. Chicken Samosa came with three sauces that I would describe as 'sweet', 'mild' and 'hot'. Lamb curry (mild) was extremely tender and flavorful. Lamb Bhuna (spicy-hot) packed amazing amounts of flavor! (Although I might go for only 'spicy' next time... :-) ) Portions were huge! Rice was perfect and fluffy! Take-out service was quick and friendly! Will definitely be a repeat stop on future work trips!!! read more

Best Indian I've had in VT. I was getting my car fixed at the dealership across the street and the smell literally drew me there. The gentleman at the window was very nice and I got my meal within 15 mins of ordering. I ordered the lamb curry and it was fall apart tender, authentic flavors and spice level, didn't seem dumbed down for Americans. I'd definitely recommend if you are looking for a home cooked level of takeout. read more

What a great little find! First, this is a take out only place - no place to sit. Second, this is someone's home ... or looks like it is ... so don't drive past it, look for the 'Open' sign in the window. I ordered Roti and an entree tonight for dinner and everything was delicious! I ate way more than I usually do because it was just that good. Everything tasted fresh and stayed warm on my drive home ... what more can you ask for? read more

Taj E India - Look for a 'Open' sign in a house window (if it's dark), the sign with the name isn't lit up - Indian Near Me - White River Junction, Vermont

I got the nine or whatever vegetable dish. It came with rice. It's called Navratan Curry. You can have it mild, medium or spicy. It was G R E A T! Generous portion----for $12 something! This is July of 2023 here. Fancy too... came with sauces. read more

I don't give 5 stars lightly. This place definitely deserves it. Seriously. The most robust, delicious, flavorful Indian food I have had in a while. It tastes homemade (expect I can't make anything that good). They are doing takeout only because of COVID and everything is packaged well so it arrives at our home fresh and warm. I have ordered there multiple times since we discovered that place, every time something different and every time it's delicious. It's has quickly replaced our default go-to place for dinner now even thought it's a little further. read more

This place was just ok and overall I'd try it again. I hope to be able to revise my rating later because others seem to have great experiences here, but this was my first visit and it was just a little underwhelming. The tandoori chicken was dry and the rice was clumpy. We ordered garlic naan and got home to find it was plain. The mint chutney was awesome tho! And you get a couple others to try as well. NOTE: this is take out only! They don't have inside dining; although there is a picnic table outside... read more

Delicious Indian in an area with minimal diversity in dining. Excellent standards & practice in regards to Covid. Happy to have found this spot. Their samosas are amazing!! read more

One of my favorite Indian places I've ever been to. I've lived in Boston for years and had a lot of authentic Indian food, and this place rivals those in Boston. I absolutely love their vegetarian samosas; hands down my favorite thing on the menu. They're crispy and chock full of flavor. And, their chicken tikka masala comes in a close second. Once again, full of flavor, has bit of a kick (if you get it extra spi y like I do), and out of the many times I've ordered it, never any complaints. To be honest, I would eat this food every day if I could. I usually grab a garlic naan to dip in with the tikka masala sauce...literally perfection. I don't give 5 stars often, but this place truly deserves it. Not to mention, they give Dartmouth College discounts since I'm an employee. read more
