After accidentally ripping the delicate lace on my dress during my bridal salon fitting (so scary), I brought the dress to Sarah and she assured me that she could fix it and appliqué the original flower pattern on top. Sarah somehow took what was in my head and made it real. I found Sarah on Yelp when I was looking for someone to make my wedding gown. We started working together on my wedding dress when I wasn't sure if we would have something to start from or if we'd be working from scratch. She drew up beautiful options that all could have worked wonderfully, but once I had an Indian outfit to work from, we picked a design together and it became everything I ever hoped for. She ended up taking the skirt and attaching it to an original bodice. As the beaded skirt was incredibly heavy, she had to create an architecture within the bodice that would allow it to be held up comfortably. She also created the detachable sash/train/shawl that clicked the connection between East and West into place. I had always wanted my dress to be Western, but look like a sari and that's what she managed to make. What I loved about the experience was how clear she made all the steps in the process, how well she communicated when I would be hearing from her next, and how she just GOT what I was looking for. I'd mention something about gold trim and she'd send me five options within a day or two. She perfectly matched the color and fabric from the original elements to create something that looked like it had always been one piece. She kept my wild imagination reined in when I started to get carried away with all the possibilities and yet she fulfilled the larger dream. That is not easy. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for alterations for a special event. My experience with Sarah- I emailed Sarah about a month before my wedding day for alterations (so last minute!). She responded an hour later with an appointment time that week. I needed the straps and top of my dress to be taken in, the bottom hemmed and a bustle added. I had taken my dress into another seamstress earlier that week who had informed me that my dress would be too difficult to alter because of the sheer illusion material on the sleeves and that I should just wear the dress as is (too big). When I went to Sarah a few days later she saw the dress on me and said it would actually be quite simple for her to alter the dress. She pinned the areas where she would be working and she had me out of the dress in 15 minutes. The entire appointment was under 30 minutes. Two weeks later she emailed me that my dress was ready. I came in for an appointment the next day and dress fit perfectly after only one fitting! She took the top in, fixed the beading on the straps (some of the beading had come undone and was missing in areas), altered the area under my arms making the dress much more comfortable to wear, hemmed and bustled the dress in two weeks time all for a very reasonable price. Sarah Liller did a beautiful job altering my wedding dress that was a sample off the rack - it looks like it was made for me. It had extremely delicate and somewhat awkward fabric to take in, but she did a great job. She is extremely efficient too. The store I bought it from on a whim (first dress I tried on) almost panicked when I mentioned I had 5 months to my wedding...to me this was plenty of time but maybe it isn't in the wedding industry...Sarah obviously shared my opinion since it didn't take her much time at all to alter it. There was plenty of time for a second fitting to get it just right. My mom ended up hiring her to do some other clothes altering and I know we will definitely be going back to her for our fashion needs, although Sarah is mostly a bridal/custom dress business. One other nice thing about her is she not only has a design background, but she has a chemistry background - so I would definitely trust her when it comes to the physical properties of your fabrics. I contacted Sarah several weeks ago about a custom dress for a formal event that I am going to next weekend. I contacted Sarah because I had seen her clothing at an amazing boutique called Loft 1513, and loved her designs. There are no other words to say it: Sarah is THE BEST. The next time I am in need of a formal dress, I'm going to Sarah. Its worth it. The entire process of creating the dress, from start to finish, was amazingly fun. I sent her some inspiration photos and she went from there. I can't believe how quickly she worked! We talked together about what I liked and didn't like, and went through 3 total fittings over the period of 3 weeks. Even when I was worried about part of the dress, we talked it over and it turned out exactly as she described. The finished product? Most people thought I was crazy, waiting until the last minute to get such a task done, and I have to admit I was dreading that type of response.
