I sent it for her to see. Then she gave me a price range then gave me a date and time (which wasn't ideal time for me but I decided to work around her availability). Then a coupon of days ago, she called to tell me she has a doctor's appointment so we may have to move it by 30min. I told her I have another appointment immediately after so I'd appreciate it if it's not too much later. She said she'd keep me posted. Today is the appointment day, so I texted her to confirm the address. Then she told me she is not taking anyone she doesn't know. I was beyond shocked and disappointed. Why did she not tell me this before a few back and forth??? I could have taken my pants somewhere else and had it fixed. Sharing this so people don't reach out to her and have the same experience I did. Not even sure why she's on yelp. Suggested she takes her listing off as it's misleading.

If you're lucky, you might have a positive experience with Sylvia, who appears to be a talented seamstress. Someone who is adept at psych and/or ethical business practices is likely to see why all potential customers need to proceed with extreme caution. YELP asked me to rate and discuss my experience (I did not volunteer, nor take the initiative). Having decades of experience in customer service, I treated owner Sylvia in a kind, courteous, professional manner. However, the lengthy responses I received from her in return contained multiple alarming "red flags." Unwise to ignore red flags. The upside is I not only dodged a potentially irreparable wedding gown tragedy, but I saved an estimated $800 (a 90% discount) because I "ran" so far, to an adept humble trusted tailor, a 30-minute drive from Marin, where affluent victims are much harder to come by . . . Virtually impossible to put a price on the feeling of being victimized, abused, or treated unfairly. Wiser to try to live without regret by making wiser choices to start with.

The dress we bought online was a final sale, and was accidentally purchased a size too large, which could have been a complete disaster. It had to come down an entire size to fit, which ended up costing us $50 in alternations, but honestly the finished product, while expensive compared to other local tailors, turned out perfectly. This was a job that that could either work out wonderfully (it did) or completely ruin a garment, and with less than a week to go before our event, we were pleased we came here. I've taken a few things for alterations at less expensive dry cleaners with a seamstress on staff, only to be disappointed or worse, have my original garment ruined, which can be slightly heartbreaking. As other's have said, prices are high. This is a small unassuming operation and the primary owner is factual, and some have said curt. It was off-putting reading the reviews, but it struck me that perhaps she is just a no nonsense lady with higher than average prices and a specific loyal customer base. In a world of just-okay seamstresses or worse, as I have had a few items ruined at other tailors, here you can trust in their alterations.

My disappointment was when she told me "wash pants before, I'm not dry cleaner". She was telling me that she thought that my pants were dirty! I had bought both pairs, took the tags off then took them here to be altered. She kept telling me that the new pants were dirty. If those pants were dirty, they got dirty in her store. I don't need that hassle, I won't be back.
