Wow. I was going to board my old chihuahua terrier here for the second time and looked it up to check the address. Not anymore, because what I thought was an innocent accident I am now realizing is neglect. We picked up our dog after a 4 days, and they told us that he escaped multiple times and needed to go to the vet for an antibiotic because he had a scrape all over his body. He does escape so the thought of him scraping under the fence sounded accurate. What rubbed us the wrong way is they told us that this 2 inch raw scrape on his side with skin hanging off was already there when we dropped him off...like we don't know the state of our dog when we dropped him off. ( ?!?!?)Why even lie when you're already admitting to him escaping and you needing to take him to the vet? After reading reviews I say SHADY. I will not be taking him there again. read more

To say we are disappointed, is an understatement. Our puppy has a serious skin infection, is lethargic, and I feel this business was dishonest in their care of our boy. You can see in the photo, he has a serious infection on his shoulder. They told us it just came up and they thought it was related to his collar. But this infection is on his shoulder, three inches away from where his collar sits. That's plainly obvious. But what really bothers me is we had him there for three weeks and no update was given about this condition. We called a few times and heard he was having fun and doing just fine. I doubt very seriously that this infection just popped up and, even if it did, why were we not notified? Is it that difficult to call the owners the minute something is off? Saying he is this lethargic because he's been playing all day doesn't check out. This puppy is sick and we knew that in the first 10 min I saw him. read more

I wish I could give this 0 stars. Honestly, I'm devastated by their lack of caring of animals. My friend dog stayed here ONE NIGHT and LOST HALF HIS EAR! He lost half of one ear, had staples in the order ear to keep it intact and had bite marks all over his back and neck. They didn't offer my friend any explanation and just claimed he got a "nick" in his ear. Absolutely untrue. Poor pup is definitely missing almost more than half of his poor ear. Absolutely HORRENDOUS- business was not watching and refused to contact owners when a dog was attacked, while trying minimize the dog's injuries and convince the vet to hide it as well. One ear was ripped in half and the other ripped off.... You must be really incompetent to not notice a pack of dogs mauling another dog in your care, then to try to be shady and not immediately get the dog owners in the loop to cover your own behind-- SHAME ON YOU. According to google reviews this isn't the first time they've sent injured dogs home without explanation or admitting their fault. My dog has been in the care of the owners three times. The first time was for a week, the second time was during the holidays for around two weeks. Nothing has happened those two times until the third. As dog parents we understand the risks of possible dog fights with nicks, bite marks etc. However, upon recent pick up day, my dog is extremely dirty, usually not unusual for an outdoor no kennel boarding place, but this time it was severe. He reeked of dog urine, mud and the outdoors. The owners joked that he mopped the floors (My dog is fluffy). We personally bathed him at home, due to the shortage of dog groomers. I had to throughly wash him which was extremely difficult because he kept cowering away from me. Following him from jumping out of the tub I saw red around his tail. My husband inspected the area and found a gaping wound approx. 2in clean cut laceration over an inch deep. His wound visually showed his muscles and yellowed infection. We rushed him to the Emergency Vet whom confirmed that the laceration was not caused by a dog fight and was 3 days old approximately. The vet knew the ranch, as he had treated previous injuries from there before. I left a voicemail after we found the injury and was not return until the following day two hours after opening. My dog had the dead and infected flesh removed then sutured. Following with a strong antibiotic with an antibiotic course to treat his mild fever and infection. The owners did not admit fault but said they interacted with him the full stay. The vet did mention that the wound would have bled profusely, which tells us they were likely negligent to my dogs care. They did reimburse us for the vet bill, however not for the stay. They have yet to apologize for not being responsible with my dogs care or what may have caused this injury from their property. They only blamed other dogs for damaging the fences.....This is a true statement to best the best of my knowledge and belief. I found The Tail Waggin Ranch, online when I was preparing for my move from Murfreesboro, TN to Bozeman, MT. One a quick weekend trip to Bozeman, I did a drive by. What a beautiful place! All the dogs came running to the fence, it was so darn cute. When I returned to TN, I contacted Tammy and Wade. They couldn't be nicer. My labs were going to be transported there by a professional service, Blue Collar Pet Transport (who also did a rocking great job getting my babies there). Tammy and Wade contacted me when my babies arrived. I was due to arrive till weeks later. They have taken amazing care of them since April. They are still there till I move into my 2 bedroom apartment. They love it there, I love visiting them there. All the pups are running and playing on acres and acres of green beautiful grounds, a pond for the fur babies to swim and it is endless. Tammy and Wade take amazing care of all these dogs like family. I go frequently to visit my babies, and you can see the love they have for Tammy and Wade and vice versa. They are such great people with great big hearts. If you don't want your baby sitting in a cage and getting in a walk or two, this is where they can run and play freely. I love going there myself, to sit by the fire and visit. Dogs play like children people, and stuff happens BUT I can tell you, mine are always looking great, they have never looked so good. Second time we bring our 2 dogs here. First time was fine. This second time they stayed for 1 week. One of our dogs came back with a terrible diarrhea and not wanting to eat. Our other dog came back with no energy, looking afraid and timid.. he is the complete opposite of that. He also lost close to 5 lbs. We provided their food since they are on a special diet. Sometimes things don't go as planned and these folks really stepped up to the plate. One of my dogs tried to escape, and rather than calling me and telling me to pick up my dogs, they figured out a solution. Additionally, my flight got canceled and I had to leave my dogs unexpectedly there for two more days. Again they were so accommodating. I picked up my dogs, and they seemed very happy. If you love your dog, do not take them here. On top of the reports of them still losing dogs in the paper (which should be enough), everything about this facility is sub-par and the owners don't seem to care. We chose to board our dog here because we waited until the last minute at a very busy time of year, and for whatever reason I cannot for the life of me remember the reviews being this bad. Our dog was still a puppy at the time, so we brought her own food since that was what she was used to (it had said on the site that we could tailer the pups diet). We received the bag back after pickup and clearly it was the same weight as it was before. We had a lengthy stay and it would have been obvious if it had been unopened. All the dogs are left out to fend for their own. Meal times are free for alls. When we came to pick up our dog, the owners did not know what it looked like or which pen it was in, so it took a while to even find him. And worst of all, I did not recognize my poor puppy for days after pickup. They said it's just like a doggy day camp, but it may as well have been a forced labor camp for the way my dog acted after. He was such a loving, adventurous dog before, but for weeks after his personality changed into that of a scared, timid animal. He was not nearly as affectionate and we had to pander to him to even get him to cuddle with us, ears always in the tucked position, etc. I felt and still feel horrible for subjecting my dog to this. On a recent trip to Yellowstone, we figured out at the last minute that our dog wasn't allowed to come backpacking with us. Searching on Yelp, I was a little worried by reading the reviews, but figured the Tail Waggin' Ranch was worth at least checking out. I must say, I am so glad that we did! After being let into the front gate, we were greeted by the owner and a few of his regular furry customers, all of whom were having such a great time. There were multiple fields that the dogs could play in, some of which even had a small river for them! Upon our return three days later, our dog was truly having a tail waggin' good time. I would much rather have her here than any normal boarding facility. The whole property was lined with 6+ foot tall fences and the owner is super attentive to the dogs. I could be wrong, but is seems to me like the negative reviews of this place all likely came from the same person (who probably shouldn't board their dog given its propensity to jump 6+ foot fences). Bottom line: if you are looking for a place to house your dog, Tail Waggin' Ranch is the best place in Montana, bar-none. It may not feel like the Taj Mahal to a human, but you would be hard pressed to find a better place in the eyes of a dog. read more

I take my dogs to TWR 5 days a week while I'm at work and they have never been happier. Tammy and Wade (the owners) truly love and understand dogs well and I know when my dogs are there that they're in great hands. I see that there have been some negatives reviews and I can only speak to my own experience. I know my dogs are not escape artist and love being there so I have no fear that they would try to leave. Upon arrival and sitting down with Tammy and Wade, they explained that they have several dog runs and do not take aggressive dogs but it's not like one of those places where you stick 20 dogs in a play room and supervise. If your dog is aggressive or can jump a 6-foot fence you should probably look into a kennel for boarding. I can't say enough positive things about Tammy and Wade and how happy my dogs have been since going there. I'm truly grateful for how they care for my dogs. read more

I've been taking my dog here for over a year every time I have to leave town. It's great because he has 2 acres to roam freely and play with other dogs. I love knowing that while I'm away he can explore and be free from a kennel. Sometimes, I get the feeling the owner doesn't really like my dog or seems annoyed by him but maybe I just am getting the wrong vibe? I'll continue to take him here regardless because I know he has freedom and it's a convenient location to the airport and home. read more

I took my two Labs to Tail Waggin' Ranch twice with no problems. But the last time, one of my dogs got out and went to the neighbors' and the Tail Waggin' Ranch people didn't even know she was gone! Overnight!! I had to call them from Texas after getting the call from the neighbor. When I arrived to pick up my dogs, the owners acted like it was no big deal -- kind of chuckled about the incident. We have been going to Tail Waggin' Ranch for two years now. Our dogs love it and most especially love Tammy and Wade. They are real dog people and love the dogs in return. Its wonderful for the dogs to feel freedom in the big play areas and have a chance just to play. Far better than any kennel situation where, while the dogs appear !00% safe, their spirits are also caged. I'd much rather have my two dogs run free, sleep on couches and feel the sunshine on their fur. It really is a "dogs place" and I appreciate an love the attention they get there. I took my dog to Tail Waggin Ranch on 07/06/2014. It was just for a day visit. I was from out of state and was travelling to Yellowstone with a companion and her dog from Washington state. When I returned to pick up my pooch the ranch did not know she was missing. Tha day 3 dogs went missing. With in a 6 day span all dogs were recovered with the help of the local community. This was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made. DO NOT leave your fur baby with these people. They told me it was my responsibility that my dog was gone and they were not liable. Their contract prevents them from being held accountable. I thank the town of Bozeman for the support I recieved. NOT Tail Waggin Ranch! Save yourself the heartache and call a local vet and get a recomendation. This place ruined my whole trip. read more

I am writing this review because we use the Tail Waggin Ranch all the time and there have been some unkind reviews. First of all Tammy and Wade are great people and LOVE dogs. Our yellow lab Cooper get's very excited when we trun down Linney to drop him off. They treat the dogs like family. We have left Cooper there for as long as a month when we were in FL. I called one time to check on him and make sure he was ok and not lonely. It turns out that he was being let in the house during the evenings to hang out and watch TV and was even let on the bed one night! He doesn't even get to be on the bed at home! They have camp fires and spend time with the dogs-very personable. Our old Golden Retriever Montana who passed away a couple of years ago was very well taken care of. Tammy always made sure she got her meds and she would let her in the house-Montana adored her. When Montana passed away Tammy sent us a sympathy card. Yes the place is a little rough around the edges, but it is obvious that a lot of improvements have been made with fencing,facilities etc. They do a good job of separating the dogs for size,temperament,age etc. My dogs were never traumatized or mistreated. If you want traumatized try taking your dog to a traditional kennel where they are cooped up and only let out a couple of times per day. Cooper plays ball, splashes in the creek, runs up and down with the other dogs-he loves it there. I am writing this because we are moving away from Bozeman and it will be tough to find a place where dogs can be dogs and enjoy themselves so much. Thanks Tammy and Wade! read more

We have taken our dog a yellow lab to Tail Waggin Ranch several times. He loves it there. When we open the car door he runs to the area he usually goes to, he doesn't hesitate. He doesn't do well in the heat and the owners have been more than willing to assure us he gets put in areas that have water for him to get in to. He comes home tired. I like the fact there are no cages, another place we took him to was nice but when we went to pick him up they had put him in a cage and he was shaking from being scared even though we use a kennel at home. Update 7-6-15 Another lost dog. This dog is still missing. Owner from Texas traveling to Washington. I traveled through Belgrade on my way to camp Paradise Valley. After a long drive from Washington State my friend and I decided to board our dogs for the afternoon so we could shop and get the last of our supplies. When we returned to the kennel the owner told me the moved my dog. I was then told she was laying out in the shade. I realized then these people had no idea where my dog was. This is where my journey began. I spent my entire vacation looking for my dog. The community of Bozeman and Belgrade helped walk along side me day and night. I agree with the person who said this place deserves zero stars. The conditions might look okay from the road, but our dogs came back frightened and cowed. I can see how all the lost dogs you can read about in the local papers (google it) got out of this place. It would be very easy for a dog to get injured or escape here and for none of the owners to notice. They had about 30-40 dogs in an open field when we were there. When we talked to the owners about the condition of our dogs, they literally screamed at us. They were something out of Deliverance. Very scary place that makes me want to never, ever board my dogs anywhere again. read more

I held off from slamming these guys after our last stay (Oct. 2013) but after hearing of the horrifying events over the past two weeks with dogs going missing I think it is time to share more reasons why this business should NOT be around. We left our dog while we were gone for 10 days. We returned and they did not know which of the runs she was in and we did not recognize here. Either they let her just free feed or they feed the dogs total crap. Our dog was huge and lethargic for 2 weeks after her stay. She was also filthy beyond belief. My dog is a veteran of many stays at Tail Waggin' Ranch. One of the many aspects I like about this place is that the owners really know dogs. I've read several of the negative reviews. I can't stress enough that in my probably 15 times having my dog there, none of those events have happened. I'm aware of the missing dog, so it was great when they installed the electronic gate. The concept of the kennel-less kennel may not be your dog's cup of tea; for my dog it's been a perfect match. My dog will be staying there again in two weeks. read more

This is a terrible place to leave your dogs, NEVER leave them here!! They have a history of losing dogs and dogs coming home injured. We've left our 2 girls here 3 different times, we loved the idea of open running and being able to play with other pups. The last time I left them there I had a feeling it wasn't right, but we were on our way to the airport and I didn't have time to change places. Upon picking them up I noticed that both girls were cowering and jumped in the car as soon as they could. Instead of being happy to be home they were extremely distressed, hiding, not eating and being timid around other people. One of them was covered in sores, all over her head, neck, legs, back, she's the sweetest girl and these injuries were unlike anything I've seen. Being there a week she lost 10 lbs and my other one lost a few as well. The owners seem like they just don't care anymore, the first time we took them there they were really friendly and our pups had a great time, but over the next few trips it just steadily got worse. I would never leave a dog here again or recommend it to anyone, after finding so many sores all over mine I almost called the authorities since it didn't look like infliction's from another dog or trying to escape. Don't let anything happen to your dogs, take them anywhere else! read more

I really wish that there was a 0 star for this place. I looked into boarding at this facility a while back so I drove over to check it out. The fences aren't adequate (see other reviews about dogs going missing), they free feed all of the dogs together which is just begging for a dog fight and the property itself is very dilapidated and dirty. I brought my dog with me that day. The owner's dog that has free run of the property acted aggressively towards my dog. The owner told me and I quote "yeah that dog right there killed a pit bull. Ate his face right off.". Just like that. No big deal. The dogs are not supervised at all. If a dog fight broke out, the dogs could actually fight to death and the owners wouldn't even be aware of it. Just the fact that they have a dog that has killed another dog on property is reason enough to not bring your dog here. I brought my dog to stay at the ranch while we were doing some other activities for my wedding. He's an older dog (13yo) and small (16lbs). The day of my wedding, my fiance picked him up. She mentioned there was some incident. When we got him back to the hotel, he was in shock. We took him to the vet and found he had over 4 bite marks on him (I have pictures of wounds and bite marks), the vet indicated that he was probably attacked by two dogs of a larger size than him. While I understand that accidents happen, the owner did not take him to the vet. When I asked for recompense of the vet bills in Bozeman ($300 to clean him up, and medication for infection), she indicated she was going through Chapter 11 (bankruptcy) and could not afford to do so. As a result of her not taking my dog to the vet in the first place (as the owner attributed this due to her lack of funds), my dog passed away 5 days later. If you are going to use this business, please be sure to find out her financial status as well as what her procedures are in case of vet necessities. read more

We left our 5 month old lab here while we were away for the weekend. She is playful, LOVING and submissive dog. The owner told me she would leave our dog in her house since she it was her first time her to socialize. We returned earlier than expected and stopped by on Sunday evening to pick her up. Luckily I left my children in the vehicle as I went in to pick her up. The owner was unable to find her and as we went out back she kept hollering for her to no avial. Once I called her she came out from a hole under her hot tub while 5 other dogs barked ran around. She immediately sat next to me and began to urinate and shake while caked with mud. I asked what had happened and was assured she was just playing with all the owners dogs (2 of which where aggresive). Once home we found two puncture wounds from a dog bite on her front leg and she wont eat. I have called several times to find out what happened and they will not return my call.
