Sushi bar style seating under the cherry blossom tree.

Small but efficient Japanese restaurant with authentic sushi and hot dishes. Ambiance and decor is nice. Great place for lunch or dinner for 1-4 guests. Don't try to fit a larger crowd. Lunch specials from 12-3pm. Wine and beer menu, great loose leaf tea. Staff is pleasant. My only complaint is that the maki prices are way too high and the pieces are too small. €8 for tiny avocado rolls is far too steep.

Sashimi platter!

Very good quality sushi place in Limerick. I was told by a bartender at a pub this is the best sushi place in Limerick, but I can't independently confirm that as this is the only place I went. True to my usual deal at a sushi joint, I ordered the sashimi platter, miso soup and edamame. Presentation was excellent and the quality was as expected for a nice sushi restaurant.. I also loved the more traditional wooden spoon that came with the soup. A word of note to American sushi lovers in Ireland: Miso soup portions tend to be smaller, and far less frequently do entrees include soup and salad like they do in America. That's nothing specific to the restaurant, just a European vs American thing so be prepared. If you're staying in Limerick and looking for sit-down sushi, this is the place to go!

I can never get enough sushi so imagine my excitement when I found this little gem directly across the street from our hotel! We were seated immediately and received excellent service. The rolls were large, fresh and delicious and the presentation was enjoyable! I ordered a roll that wasn't on the menu and they were more than willing to accommodate my request. We ate with real wooden chopsticks and drank out of wooden teacups which was a nice authentic touch. The place is packed which is always a good sign. It's a tad bit on the pricey side but what sushi restaurant isn't? I would highly recommend Taikichi to anyone who is visiting or living in Limerick and wants the best sushi in town.

Food is great! First day service jitters, but amazing sushi!

Not the best I've had but for a place in Ireland it's fun to go to and decently yummy!

Sweet restaurant, food is quite authentic, and friendly staff. Portions are quite big (but that's not a bad thing :) ). Nice atmosphere.

I love the decor and the ambience but if you aren't at a table it can feel a little cramped.

Asian Tea House - Miso Soup

Asian Tea House

My wife and I were looking for a place to get tea while visiting Galway and stumbled upon the Asian…read moreTea House, but to our surprise it wasn't open until 5pm, which is a bit unusual for a place only serving tea. To our surprise, despite the name, this was a full-fledged restaurant and bar. So, we found another tea house to spend the early afternoon, and returned that evening for dinner. Upon return, inside we were greater to a very ornate Asian aesthetic inside. Not only did they have a decent selection of Asian teas, but also a rather expansive dinner menu. We were each given a small jasmine tea to start, which was cold brewed (rare to see!) and quite flavorful. I ordered Shredded Duck Noodles for the entree which were delightful. The noodles themselves were very well flavored and chewy. On top of this, there was a surprising amount of duck throughout the dish. Typically you see the protein being skimped on, but not the case here. The asian veggies mixed throughout were a welcome addition as well Overall, it was a great vibe, great selection, and great food. If you enjoy Asian cuisines, you wouldn't be going wrong here.

I ordered black bean beef with tumeric rice. It was a generous portion, with a good amount of very tender beef. I had asked for the peppers that normally comes with the stir fry veggies to be replaced with asian vegetables, and I think I got a few scraps of bok choy and Napa cabbage in the mix. Most of the veggies ended up being scallions and onions. I also ordered one of the Pu-erh teas, as this is supposed to be a strong tea and can steep for a long time in very hot water without turning sour or bitter. While the tea was stronger than most of the teas I've had during my vacation in Ireland, it was still quite a lot weaker than expected. We asked for more leaves to be added to the pot but either they didn't actually add any, or didn't add enough to make a difference in the flavor. Overall a decent restaurant, would recommend to anyone looking for Asian cuisine.

Tomodachi Sushi Bar

We never felt that it was good value for money, at least in terms of quantity, but it wasn't too blatant. However over the last year it's become worse and worse. On our last and sadly final visit we ordered Edamame, pork gyoza, a rainbow roll and a chicken and prawn yakiudon. The gyoza and roll weren't generous but were fine. As for the other dishes... The edamame consisted of a tiny pile of maybe 15 to 20 bean pods. It would have fit easily in my closed palm. The yakiudon had 6 or 7 thumb-tip sized pieces of chicken (I'm including the fatty bits) and 4, FOUR, prawns. I called this to the attention of the person I guessed to be the senior waiter only to have her respond very politely and overly sympathetically, in what I took to be a genuine attempt to mollify us. She apologised for the disappointment and explained about the increasing costs. We're all aware of the crisis but the quantities mentioned above are just flatly insulting. With 1 Asahi, a hot sake and a yuzu tea it came to €110. 10% service charge included and no attempt to address my complaint. €110 for a small, quick meal for two. Sorry Tomodachi, we won't be back at those prices.
