Popped in for lunch with my mom around 1 pm on a Wednesday - no wait :) Ordered a Tom Kha soup, tofu stir fry, and pad kee Mao noodles. We got rice as well. Was a lovely and well balanced meal. Really enjoyed the noodles the most. Everything tasted authentic! I thought the service could have been a little bit better. For example, we had to ask them to bring water to the table, our dishes were put on the table without serving spoons, we had to ask for an extra plate since we told her we were sharing but I think she forgot. Food also came out a bit slow. Overall - they were extremely accommodating. There was a mix up with our order and they happily corrected it and replaced it with something we could eat. The food was tasty, the interior was welcoming and warm, and everyone serviced us very kindly. Portions were extremely generous, we ate lunch and dinner! Found this neat place with great Thai food. Each dish was perfectly crafted and did not disappoint. We ate the Fer Pho, Dried Chicken, Yellow Curry and duck. I read about Aroi in an Independent article when I was doing research on Limerick. I love Thai food, and was excited to try this well-reviewed restaurant. It did not disappoint! We started with the calamari, which actually got dropped off at the same time as our mains. Ask for dishes to be coursed, if that's what you prefer. The calamari had a crunchy coating that reminded me of fried chicken. It was delicious! Also delicious was the shrimp pad thai. Hands down the best pad thai I've ever eaten. There was a mountain of it, and I did some solid work. There were tons of shrimp, plus teeny tiny dried shrimp which added incredible flavor. My sister had a different noodle dish with pork, and she loved her meal as well. I was bummed that they were out of Singha, my go-to Thai beer, but I put down a couple Tigers pretty easily. All together, our dinner came to about 35 euro, which was great. If I'm ever back in Limerick I will make it a point to hit Aroi for lunch or dinner! read more

Aroi, which took the place of Pecked, is a great addition to the restaurant choices in Limerick. (Would give 4.5 stars if possible or 9/10). The interior decor is perfectly streamlined and modern without being too ethnic or too sparse. The tables easily accommodate groups of 1-4 but you would want to call ahead for a reservation for larger groups. In fact, if you plan to stop in on a Friday or Saturday night, you might be hard-pressed to find an available table if you haven't made a reservation. The menu is small but you will find something for everyone. My favorite is the fried rice but my daughter loves the pad see ew (a mild noodle dish) and my son adores the chicken with plain rice. The most striking thing about the menu is the large drinks selection. They offer coffees and teas, root bears, wines, beers, and juices that are freshly squeezed. Also, the chef is more than happy to make a dish to your specifications- don't want mushrooms? No problem. Want chicken or tofu instead of pork, ok! The staff are overwhelmingly kind and usually remember us (as we are repeat customers). The chef loves to interact w customers so be sure to say hello when you pay at the till. Food arrives quickly to the table, just as it would with real street food in Thailand. There is a selection of ice creams, sorbets, and gelato for after the meal that are actually quite tasty. Tips: - Pay and tip at the till. - Park at Arthur's Quai, directly across the street. - Take away is available if you'd like to call ahead. - Portion sizes are generous so plan to share if you like. - Tea is not the high-quality loose leaf I would expect from a Thai restaurant but regular bagged Irish brands. - Noise levels are average, not the place to take someone for a private conversation. read more

Aroi has become our takeaway of choice when we're not feeling like cooking but we don't want a big pizza or chinese hangover. I'm always for the green veg and calamari, which are possibly the best I've ever had, and they actually travel better than you might expect when you're getting delivery. The prices are reasonable, each of these is a fiver. I've eaten there just once, and the service was very quick. There was also a nice selection of beverages and I even tried some mango sorbet. The main reason for 4 stars is it's always busy and they cram you in. If you don't have a reservation consider take out or get comfy at the counter. The food is good. We stopped in here by chance when in Limerick for a rugby game. It's just fantastic. First thing we noticed was that the menu was interesting, in that it didn't just have "all the usual suspects" on it in terms of Asian dishes. There's certainly something in here to please everyone I reckon - but some of the starters and some of the salad mains were nicely different or a little "cut above" the bog standard fare you might see in a colour-by-numbers Asian Fusion place. We ordered some starters, a salad and a spicy hot main course, along with some beers. The staff were great. One of them took pains to point out to us that the salad (which was a meat-based Vietnamese dish) was "cold". They wanted to point this out because several people had complained about the salad being "cold" and asked to change it :-) All the food was really good - delicious prawn and duck starters, and the mains were fantastic. More so by being priced very, very low (like a tenner for a main course?? What???) The place itself is lovely - modern, clean decor. It was hopping the night we were in (after the match, duh), and had a lovely buzz to it. The following day we bumped in to someone who said they saw us in there eating, and wanted to know "how we found out about it - as it's only new". Visiting Ireland I wasn't expecting to find a good Asian food place but boy was I wrong. I had the pad Thai and I was actually surprised at how good it was. A little to much Veg with the char grilled duck but at least the duck was CRISPY unlike other restaurants I have tried.A little more duck would have been nice as i was still a bit hungry afterwards. I've gone a few times with friends and this place is quite delightful. The place is small and is an odd mix of high-ish class style with street vendor quickness of service. Big portions, reasonable prices. A very large menu with a relatively small vegetarian menu, which is one of my only gripes. The place gets a bit loud so I wouldn't call it a romantic date night spot but it is lovely for when you want a nicer meal. It's been the best Thai food over had in a long time, and my friends who ate with me agreed. read more
