The mother and I took a weekend in Galway around the time of the arts festival, and found ourselves dining at the lovely Lime. You can't book for outside, but we managed to get a table there nonetheless, and it was a gorgeous day for it! Even when it cooled down, there were heat lamps and blankets to use if you like. The food was fantastic, we had starters, mains and cocktails and everything was so so tasty. It so happened that at the time we visited, the early bird menu deal was going on all night, so it turned out to be great value as well. There were lovely views over the Sparch and all the artists and creatives lolling around for the festival-- in particular waiting for the Boobwhale, which if you know, you know. Would highly recommend! Great food and very, very pleasant staff.

Goats cheese, melon, beetroot and loveliness.

Initially seated near a large and loud group, we asked to be moved away from them and the staff happily obliged. I noticed at least two other couple do the same thing: get seated and then ask to be moved. You'd think they'd just wait until it was the last table before putting someone there. But in fairness to Lime, they probably make 50%, if not more of their revenue from big groups. It's their thing. And we did get a table as walk ins, which we were grateful for. I had a lovely starter of goats cheese that included beetroot and melon. I really enjoyed it. Our mains took a while to be served and my main of Nasi Gorang was a bit bland, it didn't seem to translate from menu to plate, which was a bit of a disappointment. The staff were nice. Facilities clean. Grand overall.

Bland. Bland. Bland. Had to ask for salt! Over cooked, tasteless and not worth the money. Staff were friendly couldn't fault them.

Food was decent, I enjoyed the monkfish in curry with sweet potatoes quite a bit. Service was, in a word,,, abominable. So, so bad...!

Review Highlights - Lime

This would have been $300 in New York City but in Galloway, Ireland it was a quite fair $75.

It ended up being surprisingly excellent, though! We shared a Vietnamese Roll appetizer. Mom doesn't like peanuts, and they nicely made one without. They weren't rolled very tightly, but they (and the sauce) were good. Mom ordered the Chicken Fried Rice and raved how big and tender the chicken was, and how the rice wasn't old. She did wish there was egg in the dish. I had the Crispy Roast Duck, which was the absolute best duck dish I've ever had! It had a great sweet + savory flavor, the skin was crispy, the meat was tender, and it was boneless! The rice was fine, though less sticky than I'm used to. Delicious food paired with cute decór and late hours make Jalan Jalan a total Galway gem!

Asian Tea House - Miso Soup

To our surprise, despite the name, this was a full-fledged restaurant and bar. So, we found another tea house to spend the early afternoon, and returned that evening for dinner. Upon return, inside we were greater to a very ornate Asian aesthetic inside. Not only did they have a decent selection of Asian teas, but also a rather expansive dinner menu. We were each given a small jasmine tea to start, which was cold brewed (rare to see!) and quite flavorful. I ordered Shredded Duck Noodles for the entree which were delightful. The noodles themselves were very well flavored and chewy. On top of this, there was a surprising amount of duck throughout the dish. Typically you see the protein being skimped on, but not the case here. The asian veggies mixed throughout were a welcome addition as well Overall, it was a great vibe, great selection, and great food. If you enjoy Asian cuisines, you wouldn't be going wrong here.

I ordered black bean beef with tumeric rice. It was a generous portion, with a good amount of very tender beef. I had asked for the peppers that normally comes with the stir fry veggies to be replaced with asian vegetables, and I think I got a few scraps of bok choy and Napa cabbage in the mix. Most of the veggies ended up being scallions and onions. I also ordered one of the Pu-erh teas, as this is supposed to be a strong tea and can steep for a long time in very hot water without turning sour or bitter. While the tea was stronger than most of the teas I've had during my vacation in Ireland, it was still quite a lot weaker than expected. We asked for more leaves to be added to the pot but either they didn't actually add any, or didn't add enough to make a difference in the flavor. Overall a decent restaurant, would recommend to anyone looking for Asian cuisine.

We were seated by the hostess, who then also took our orders - and although pleasant, I wouldn't say she was overly awesome. However, she was efficient, albeit in quite a hurry taking reservation orders for dinner constantly. Our table was seated in a nice bay window view overlooking the street, and there was plenty of food to eat with the prix fixe menu. Overall it was a great deal, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered (including dessert!). I'm not sure I'd come again for dinner - the lunch was just a great deal overall, and I expect dinner to be pricey.

I recently visited this little restaurant for a lunch between Christmas and New Years. Situated on the 1st floor (cosy narrow stairs make you feel like you are calling in on your old French auntie!). A "L" shaped restaurant from what I could see. Greeted by a big smile and given a chose of seats. A table for 2 at one of the window so we could watch down at the shoppers battling the sales and see the world go by. The lunch menu was a mixture of light dishes and hearty meals so the choice is yours. My lunch date went for the beetroot and goat's cheese salad (a regular of hers) and I went for the beef Bourguignon with creamy mashed potatoes. The chef I believe is French and mixes both traditional French and Irish dishes. While waiting for our meal we were offered a choice of freshly baked breads. I went for the curried bread which was delicious. Meals quickly arrived and were perfect. Salad comes in 2 sizes either as a main or starter. The mains size is HUGE. Well worth the money. My beef and mash was flavourful and just the right amount. We both had enough space left for desert so I went for the selection of ice-creams and my friend went for the Coffee/Chocolate mouse. All in all very well priced, calming atmosphere and I'll be back!

This is a long one, but worth the read…read more On Sunday 27th April 2014 we visited Chi Restaurant with the intention of redeeming a voucher which we had bought online. After about a 10 minute wait, my girlfriends meal arrived. We didn't mind the 10 minute wait as we were expecting top notch food. I sat patiently and told my girlfriend to start her meal, as surely mine would be along shortly. To cut a long story short (as possible), after 12 minutes of waiting for my meal (I mean 12 minutes after my girlfriends meal had arrived, so about 22 mins after ordering) I complained to the male waiter that my meal still hadn't arrived and that it wasn't acceptable so have such a long wait, especially when eating together. (I noticed that we weren't the only table that this was happening to). The male waiter seemed shocked that we were complaining about this, and didn't seem too bothered, just a muffled "sorry". 5 minutes later, the chef appeared from the kitchen and produced Prawn Crackers to the table (I assumed these were complimentary with a meal, as is the norm in many establishments). He gave me a smile and said "it's free, it's free" and patted me on the back before disappearing back into the kitchen. We thought "that's a nice gesture, a free meal since they'd screwed up so badly, all is not lost". Another 5 minutes later my meal finally arrived. I ate quickly (was hungry). Once finished I approached the male waiter and mentioned that the chef said the meal was free. The waiter didn't question this and we left. Fast forward to the next day, April 28th. This is when the nightmare begins. The male waiter from the night before entered my girlfriends workplace (how he found out that info is beyond me, a little creepy but that's a different story). He began verbally harassing her infront of her colleagues stating how much a "sh1tty thing we did just walking out without paying for a meal" and how we almost "got him fired". This continued for about another 5 minutes, my girlfriend stated. He completely embarrassed, humiliated and made false accusations to my girlfriend in her place of work, infront of her colleagues. She was completely distraught from this, and god knows what her colleagues thought she had done. This is completely unacceptable. Chi had a representative of their establishment enter into my girlfriends workplace, verbally abused her and made false accusations. Is this the norm for Chi employees? Is this the Chi ethos? My girlfriend is now afraid that this individual will approach her again, except maybe next time it could be down a quiet street where there is no one else or no witnesses, what could happen then? We are considering legal action to ensure that this male waiter of Chi never approaches my girlfriend again. On a side note, the meal was at best OK. The main was flavourless and the rice was stuck together and soggy; it was obvious the rice had been sitting for a while. I welcome Chi to respond to this.
