Today we ate at Tag's Cafe and I now remember why I have not returned in the past year. We seated ourselves immediately, but no one came to the table for five minutes. After ordering, it took at least 30 minutes to receive our food. I watched four other parties who came in after us receive their orders while we waited. No one explained or apologized for the delay. My veggie omelet was lukewarm, the toast was saturated with butter, and the hash browns were flavorless. My husband said his Reuben sandwich was very good, but it was also very small. This place was awesome, the owner and his wife are the greatest people ever. If you passing tbrough, I'd stop by for a bite. I came in for lunch but I had breakfast instead. Not because they are limited in their menu, I just happen to love breakfast from diners. The food was great and the atmosphere is defiantly that small town feel were everyone knows each other. The place was clean, the staff was freindly, and the service was decent. My biggest complaint is that I got a cinnamon roll with icing and butter but the roll was freezer burned. The place looked closed but we looked and people were eating inside. Came in and sat down and we're ignored for over 10 minutes. We got up to leave and all the sudden they wanted to help us. Sort of. I had to beg for a tea refill and when we got the food it was decent but VERY greasy and tough even after my grandmother explained her dietary restrictions. We won't be back and and her tip will probably be as doubtful as her service. I know waitresses work hard for their income but this lady either wasn't cut out for it or decided we were uneducated country bumpkins. read more

I am a local of this sleepy town! Tags has been around forever and the locals get all their news at Tags! LOL, but it is a great place to visit, is very retro and great food, biscuits and gravy with a side of cheesy hashbrowns with ham and green onions is the best!!!!!! Great wholesome fare you'd expect at a small town diner. A friendly local atmosphere with reasonable prices. The staff was great, but stuttered a little with service. I was seated at the counter and dropped my napkin to the floor, when I sat it on my lap, right after my meal arrived. I enjoyed a leisurely meal and never had a return visit by the server until I finished my meal; and really needed a napkin throughout (food + beard = napkin needed). read more

tags cafe, on our recent visit to your cafe we were very disappointed in the quailty of our meals. my wife ordered a belgium waffle w/ strawberries this waffle was like ego my ego and the strawberries were still frozen, i ordered a denver omelet, came with hashbrowns and toast i chose english muffin but for $8.99 it lacked a third egg, and some ingredients like broccoli, onion, and ham. we will not be coming back any time soon. read more

Went after reading all the reviews, we had to make a trip to Florence and was starving. Don't know what all the fuss was about, was just ok. We ordered the fried chicken dinner because we can't find anywhere in AZ. that serves it. So we were excited when we saw it on the menu. When they served it I thought I would fall off my chair laughing. The leg and wings were the smallest I've ever seen, was kinda wondering if they even came from a chicken. I thought maybe they went across the street to pizza hut and took some of their hot wings, but they were even smaller than that. The thigh was smaller than the palm of my hand. The Breast was on the small side too but not as small as the other pieces. The flavor was just ok, nothing so special that would make us want to go back. Maybe we just ordered the wrong dish. So much gravy on it, I had to scrape about 3/4 of it off just to try and eat it. The salad was a handful of warm bagged salad and a chopped up tomato. Not edible. Tag's is a small town diner. They carry all the classics (omelettes, sandwiches, burgers) as well as simple takes on regional items (read: mexican food). The service is friendly and the serving ware is always clean. I have a hard time asking for much more than that when this is the best club sandwich for 30 miles. read more

I have passed by Tag's Cafe on my motorcycle many times while riding through Coolidge on my way to anywhere out of the relentless desert heat (like lovely Bisbee). Many riders told me it is a great place to eat at, so when one of my riding groups decided to go there, I just had to try it. First and most important, they are a very motorcycle friendly place to eat with plenty of great parking. Second, they have great food! I love their hash browns - I am pretty sure they were really homemade and not out of a freezer bag because they tasted so good. Try them with Tags homemade salsa - mmmm. You will love this place! Dad's second time here, first time for Mom and I. Dad got the Señor Grande and Mom and I shared the Chimi Grande. The Chimi Grande is HUGE. The menu says you won't leave hungry and that's the truth. It is amazing!! You can buy their spicy sauce by the pint and if you bring your jar back you get $1 off! Gotta keep it refrigerated! We are coming back before I leave town, for sure!! Oh!! I live in Florence and work in Coolidge so I drive by Tag's everyday. Great food! I prefer the breakfast over the dinner menu so I usually only stop in early but I occasionally stop by on a work lunch and its good food and a decent price. Can't beat that in this town! read more

Where small-town mom-and-pop diner meets small town mom-and-pop diner. They did a great job with quick service. Food is what is to be expected from a diner with breakfast served all day. They also offer Mexican food options. I had a breakfast meal this go around and it was enjoyable though not mind-blowing. Definitely needed salt and pepper...maybe hot sauce. They also service Mexican food but I always choose from the American side because I am very particular about Mexican food. Tag's has been run efficiently by Richard and Janice since 2005 and the wait staff are always friendly. There's a moderate wait time for meals because the place is not only busy during peak hours but the food is prepared fresh to order. The clientele enjoy the easy-going atmosphere of Tag's because customers may stay as long as they wish. With a renovated back room, there's always plenty of seating. Tag's is a favorite eating place for locals, tourists, and motorcycle touring groups. Biscuits and gravy are a favorite as are the sandwiches, hamburgers, and New York cut steak. And, for an All-American breakfast, Tag's Cafe is the best place in town. read more

We always try to stop here when we're driving between the Phoenix airport and north Tucson. Very good diner food, great prices, nice employees! You can't go wrong with any item that includes green chiles and cheese. This is a local diner, so you're going to see a lot of locals, wait staff that banters, the cowboy running the register. Menu items include everything from breakfast all day to hamburgers to full dinners. A good alternative to any fast food joint. read more

Drove out especially to check the place out as heard about their Friday night fish fry. Went Sunday morning so had breakfast as a test. Middle aged waitress seated me and very nice but young girl waited on me and after serving me never returned until she dropped the bill off. Very rude and for some reason took a dislike to me. Left her $2 but it would have been more if I'd at least got another cup of coffee. Very disappointed and will not return for the fish fry. read more

Every town has it's long standing greasy spoon where the old salts come to hang out over coffee and talk about the good ol' days. Tag's is precisely that spot in Coolidge. We dined on the full hot roast beef sandwich with homemade gravy and potatoes; a melt-in-your-mouth Rueben sandwich so fresh and yummy; the chicken fried steak with eggs, hot and tasty; and the best veggie omelet prepared exactly as ordered with crispy, homemade hashbrowns and sourdough toast. We are not from Coolidge, but Tag's was recommended to us and we will definitely be dining there again and again.
