While I had an aisle seat, I found it difficult to see around the person in front of me. In addition to being short, there is no downward slope to the rows of seating at Dreamcatcher. The only other comment I have has to do w/ the restroom in the lounge area. It's a single restroom with a large window. The lower half of the window is frosted, but the upper half isn't...That wouldn't be much of a problem if there wasn't a mirror on the opposite wall. The theater has a three story house as a neighbor and the third floor window can see the reflection in the mirror, therefore the person on the toilet. I admit I was disturbed by that. Also, not sure if this is true for all performances and it wasn't a big deal for me, but when we went to Dreamcatcher on Saturday night, the audience was 75% adults 55+.

For example, in the orchestra you don't want seats from row Q to the rear or on the extreme sides because the sight and sound is not good. And in the balcony you don't want seats from row H on up. Otherwise acoustics and sight lines are good. Bathrooms maintained well. Ushers helpful. Security at entrance professional. They have all kinds of shows here. I wish they scheduled more blues, like Kenny Wayne Shepherd 10/2/26 and rock, like Joe Jackson 7/8/26. Parking in New Brunswick downtown is in parking garages. There are several eateries within walking distance of the theatre for an early dinner before a 730 or 8pm show.

Staff were organized and friendly. I had my purse searched upon entry; all bags were looked at. My ticket was purchased through Vivid Seats, and apparently they didn't provide me a legit theater-issued QR so I had to visit the box office. They were friendly and promptly issued me printed tickets. Lobby was a con because it's just small and cramped. This old building probably didn't have to house as much food and merch purchasing back in its day but the multiple concession lines were blocking people from just getting to the theater and accessing their seats. They have tons of low quality junk food for sale. The huge group sitting next to us had chicken fingers, fries, a ketchup smell that wouldn't go away... it was honestly ridiculous the food they allow in people's laps just to turn profits. I was surprised these people were buying full huge meals (that had to cost $40+ each for junk) at 3:30pm to hold it in their laps for a 1.75h kids' show. Whatever. Point is, if you haven't eaten and want to pay $40 for crap that will linger in your body, you will not go hungry here. Clean bathrooms were the right size to allow a packed house to process themselves in the 20min intermission timeframe. This includes the ladies room, which always takes longer, and it was for a kids' show, which adds even more time. I recommend pairing your visit with the Rutgers Zimmerli Art Museum if you have time. They are open until 6pm most nights.

We came on a gloomy/snowy day so there weren't other patrons and it seemed like we got an extended tour, we were there for around 2 hours, but I think normally the tours are about 30-45 minutes. During the tour you get to also go inside the tower and see the lightbulb that's been on since 1929! If you're from the area, it's definitely worth it to go and learn about the history of this place and Edison's inventions. The only down side is that they don't have a bathroom in the building, so you'd have to use the bathroom before you come or use the porta potty. The admission is $7 for adults. They have a vision of building a bigger museum since there's so much more they can showcase and make interactive.

Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol returned to the McCarter after a three year Covid hiatus to prove…read moreonce again that this 19th century rebuke of Industrial Age ruthlessness and eventual redemption can still surprise and enlighten. In the current interpretation, directed by Lauren Keating, casting for many of the main characters has been made more inclusive and in several roles, "re-gendered" as female - including Mr. Scrooge himself (Dee Pelletier.) As a result, the sharp elbows and volatility of a classic George C. Scott or Albert Finney Scrooge seemed far more muted, especially as the staging was less lavish than in previous productions. And I don't know if the urban contemporary dance number at the end and the "updating" of several key scenes (Tiny Tim becomes a veterinarian??) was entirely necessary but It just goes to show that live theater is always intriguing and that a story you think you know by rote can still surprise. Not since Rod Serling's Carol For Another Christmas turned this venerable chestnut into an anti-war sermon has a version demanded full audience attention. Five stars for challenging my expectations. The McCarter remains a treasure.

There is a narrative frame- device- that I found rather irritating. The protagonist is an old man who hires an actor to tell the story. This is over done and should be cut down. The first act is rather dull. It does come alive in the second act and redeems itself.Hence I wound up enjoying the play. If I were directing and I could take liberties , I 'd try to bring it more in line with the book. If it isn't scary it isn't anything. Too much dithering in the first part of the play. The actors , in challenging roles, did yeoman work. On the theater itself, the seats are very uncomfortable. It has a nice bar. You can park for free at nearby garage.

We purchased the VIP which at 45 is about the standard.. Even though the VIP line wasn't long, the wait time was longer than I'd liked with paying the higher price, but after reading the reviews, I guess we did pretty good! It gave a fun, spooky touch to have the characters playing along with us while we waited in line. Once we inside, I was impressed by the detail of the experience.. they definitely put effort into this part which was appreciated. There were a couple of different sections, including a hayride. Overall, it was more of a fun, entertaining experience, not necessarily scary.. that's good when you have a easily spooked 10 year old present.

After spotting a social media post about the garden's Cascade fountain reopening after a 16-month restoration, my walking companion and I decided to check out this hidden gem. Greenwood Gardens was a private family estate until 2003, when it opened to the public under the auspices of a non-profit organization, and you can really feel that rich tapestry of the families' history as you wander through the grounds. The highlight of our visit was the Cascade fountain, which now features water flowing through it for the first time since the early 20th century! If you're looking for a peaceful, historic, and beautiful place to stroll, Greenwood Gardens is absolutely worth the visit. We'll definitely be back! Pro Tip #1: Plan on about 75-90 minutes for a self-guided walking tour, buy tickets online in advance ($15 for adults aged 14 to 64; $10 for Seniors aged 65+; $5 for children aged 5 to 13), and wear weather-appropriate attire/walking shoes. Pro Tip #2: Leave your tripod at home. Casual photos on your phone are welcome, but portrait or staged photography (for events, engagements, graduations, etc.) requires prior permission and special facility booking.
