This was the location of the polling booths for the primary election that I was assigned to. So I ventured to the new library. Parking was easy and plentiful with numerous spaces available that are covered by solar panels allowing guests to park in the shade. I was in a hurry so I didn't walk most of the library, I just walked into the room that was being used as a polling place, checked in, received my ballot, voted, and submitted the ballot into the machine, and exited the library all in about 10 minutes. I'll return in the future to explore the grounds and campus. What I saw was clean, nice, and tastefully appointed.

He is very loud as he holds Zoom business calls at high decibels. When I asked why they allow it because it was incredibly loud and disruptive, the Librarian (middle aged tall white dude with a condescending, sardonic attitude) said it was fine and that he allows him to use the City of Orange Library study space as his office on a daily basis. He said its not against the rules (see the attached picture of the actual rules enacted by the Board of Trustees) and that he has worked at the library for 17 years and can change the rules if he wants to. when the irvine libraries split from the ocpl system, i ended up switching over to tustin since…read moreit's the closest location to me now. the location itself is really nice. it's in the civic center, so you've got the community center and police department right there, and there are a bunch of food and drink spots across the street if you want to grab something before or after. there's plenty of parking outside, but even then on busy days it can get full really fast. there are also bathrooms available but you need to ask the library for the code to access, as i believe it changes daily. they also have a security guard who stands by the door. inside, the library is super spacious, but it's not the quietest. i wouldn't really recommend it as a study or focus spot if that's what you're looking for since it can get pretty loud, especially with kids. there is a separate quiet room, but it seems more geared toward teens. i do wish the books were organized a little better. sometimes it feels like a maze trying to find something, especially not knowing if it'll be in teen/young adult or general fiction. i'm also not the biggest fan of how the manga is set up since it's split into two different areas and i'm not really sure why. that said, the staff has always been super friendly and helpful. i also love that they have a rotating table of themed recommendations. right now it's ren faire reads, but they've done things like blind date with a book for valentine's and other themed picks based on different time periods too. overall, it's a very nice facility with a wide selection of books, from new releases, manga, kids and teens books, etc.

They do everything in their power to make the visit special for the little ones. They have ongoing games, crafts, fun backpacks and games to check out, coloring sheets, stickers, and story time. My little one always looks forward to coming here. They also have a curb side pickup which is so handy when you got littles passed out on the car. The library may be small but you can put items on hold online and they'll have it ready to pick up. They also have an inter library loan system where they get to borrow books from any library in the US. They recently brought a few items into their library of things including magnet tiles, and a steel tongue drum. This is one of the few places where a presidential birthplace and burial site are both on the same grounds. Amidst a gorgeous reflecting pool, rose garden, and the palm trees typical of Southern California, Richard Nixon and his wife are buried about 50 feet from his birth home. The house lies in its original footprint when Francis Nixon built the modest house on a rural citrus ranch in 1912. It's perfectly preserved in the middle of a busy suburban setting today, included in the tour. Surprises within the sprawling complex include a replica of the living room at the Nixon's beach house in San Clemente, a full-scale replica of the Oval Office, a chunk of the Berlin Wall, and oil from Saudi Arabia's first oil well. There are countless other artifacts! Best of all, you might enter the museum thinking of Nixon as scandalous, a Republican who became America's only president to resign. But you'll leave with a deep understanding of, and appreciation for, the impact Nixon had on abolishing the military draft, developing relations with China, and signing legislation that would advance women's sports, protect countries against nuclear war, desegregate southern schools, protect the environment, and even initiate the end of the Cold War.
