Fun and unique flavors! Their inside lobby is painted with beautiful hot air balloons and taffy. It wasn't painted like that a few years ago, so I'm curious if they did it during COVID, super cute!

Wow! There are so many flavors! My kids and I went to the Taffy Town office to buy taffy and we had fun picking flavors for our own variety bags. The employee was super nice and helpful. She really knew the product! We got 75 pieces for about $6! My kids and I have been enjoying picking a couple at random each day and savoring the unique flavors. My fave so far has actually been chocolate chip cookie! It tastes just like Cookie Crisp cereal!

Taffy Town is only open weekdays with limited hours, so make note prior to driving to their location waaaaay out west. It was easy to find, though, with plentiful parking, and no customers save myself. If you are unfamiliar with their product, they have bowls of samples all over the place, making it easy to acquaint yourself. This is a basic factory store, and they only make taffy, but boy, they've got a plethora of flavors! You can do the whole pick a mix thing at $5.99/lb (with 1/4 lb free!), and there are easily...let's say 75 flavors? Probably more. You can peep my pic of the "menu," but keep in mind it does not include the 10+ newer varieties (I think their website is more updated for reference). There are standards such as peppermint, cherry, and banana, creative ones like hot chocolate, chili mango, and red licorice, plus kooky ones like maple bacon or chicken 'n waffles. My favorites were candy bar, cantaloupe, chocolate chip cookie, lemon cream, caramel apple, apple pie, blueberry, honey, and all the natural ones called Simply Taffy. These are flavored with real fruit and a bit less sweet! Sadly, they are not available loose, nor as a mixed bag, meaning you must commit to a full pound of a single flavor. Not to say I couldn't eat a pound of any of them, but I love me some variety. Same goes for their sour Sassy Taffy, but it is great, too! In addition to the above options, there were some prepackaged mixed bags for $4.99 lb, leftover Christmas was 50% off, and they have cute themed canisters, local collegiate packs, and some large bulk bags. The employee who assisted me was not particularly cheerful, but no big deal. My only real complaint is that some of the taffy was not very fresh and quite hard, but it still tasted fine. It was fun to visit and select all the "good stuff," and this would be an inexpensive option for party favors or other occasions when you need a large amount of treats. I don't think they offer factory tours, but I imagine kids would get a kick out of visiting and putting together their own bag of goodies.

What a great find! The place is located in the middle of an industrial area, far from the "city". It is a big building, easy to spot, with plenty parking. They have some samples, around 7, on the counter, next to the register. The variety of flavors to buy was great the day of my visit. I bought plenty of different flavors, some of them tasted great and some of them were weird tasting.

This taffy is whipped so not as bad as the regular taffy if you have dental work.

Attention sugar lovers! Our new meet up place is in Herriman at the Salt City Sweet Shop. Whether…read moreyou are into candy, fudge, soda, caramel apples, cotton candy or ice cream-this place has it. The selection is rather impressive. Candy takes most of us back to our childhood, so it's appropriate that the theme here is "retro." Along with candy from yesteryear, there are cool vintage looking signs and knick knacks for collectors. There are also tons of glass bottles of soda-the kind that you probably grew up drinking, or wish you had. Leatherby's ice cream (arguably the best out there) is served here as well. Want chocolate? Yup, plenty of decadent chocolates as well as a mouth-watering assortment of caramel apples. Really, there's something for everyone. If you don't find something here that you like, I would really question your level of contentment in life. I docked a star for a couple things. First, the location is tricky to get to. There's no direct access from the road, you have to maneuver around the building and enter from the side opposite the main road. It appears that another entrance is planned, but a temporary concrete barrier prevents it from being used until it's fully developed. So that's a challenge-one that will be resolved as the area grows and fills in. The other challenge was the customer service. There were two young ladies working there and neither of them greeting us when we entered. (It's a small enough space, and we were the only customers. It just felt awkward to walk in and start browsing while she just watched us.) When we checked out, I attempted friendly small talk and it fell flat. She wasn't rude, just not the friendly personality I'd hope to find in a local, small business. Otherwise, it's a great place and I'm sure my sweet tooth will guide me back again!

I heard about the grand opening on social media, and was excited to check out a fudge place so close to home. Contrary to the name, I did not find a ton of fudge. There was a little, but I had hoped to be able to buy a big chunk of milk chocolate fudge. Instead, I settled for some caramels that were pretty good. In addition to the candies in the case, there are shelves of other candies, some vintage. There is also a shelf of locally made goodies. It has a fun feel to it, but definitely still working out the details of recently opening. The reason I rated only 3 stars was for the service. When I think of mom and pop shops like this, I think of the owner or someone close to the owner running the shop, greeting customers and making people feel welcome. When I visited, there was a teenager working who clearly didn't have any stake in the success of the business. She was unfriendly, disinterested and didn't engage in any type of dialogue. I get it, I was 16 once and didn't care much about my job...but if I was the owner of this shop, I'd want to know and be sure to have people working there that represent my brand in a different way. I believe that excellent customer service is what will set this place a part from any other shop. I hope to see it change so that it is successful.

Their chickpea bao buns with chipotle aioli blew me away. It was the perfect level of spicy and very filling without making me feel heavy. Their burritos and fries are my go-to favorites. The burritos are just top-notch, but I have a soft spot for their fries -- it's kind of an inside joke for me. Whenever I go out to eat with people, they always say, "Well, I know what El is having," because I always get fries with my food. But theirs are surprisingly amazing. Fries are usually just "fine" or "good," but theirs? They're very good. The owner is incredibly kind, and their baked goods are fantastic -- especially the peanut butter brownie, which I can't recommend enough. Their soft serve is also really good, and I'm excited to try some of their candy next time. I even took a non-vegan friend there, and he really enjoyed the food. Beyond the food, the team is so nice, and they have a little vegan market with some really cool products. I bought about half a pound of vegan bacon from them, and now I'm making all kinds of breakfast sandwiches at home. If you're in the area, whether you're vegan or not, Sweet Hazel is a must-visit. And if you can't stop by in person, their partner company Break Free Candy ships their sweets, which is awesome. Seriously, if you order anything from the menu, make it the peanut butter brownie. It's life-changing -- and I say that as a huge brownie lover.
