I went to his office the first time back in the Fall for a consultation, where he observed my ingrown toenail, said he would use a liquid that would burn away the bad part so that it wouldn't come back. Assured me it would go well. The next time I went, it was for surgery. He was extremely unclear with me about what was going to happen, leaving me very panicky. Assured me the surgery had gone well. I followed all of his post-surgery recommendations. However, about a month or so later, the side of my toenail was green underneath. I went back in, saying it was clearly infected. While sitting in the room, he proceeded to manually cut the side of my nail without any numbing or anything. He said this time it should go well, and to repeat the post-surgery recommendations. I did. However, I was still in excruciating pain. I had to return AGAIN for a SECOND surgery, this time to an office of his far away. He repeated the surgery, had me repeat the post-surgery recommendations. Things seemed well finally. He had me return to his office a week or so later to see how progress was going. He came in with another young doctor, clearly doing observations and learning from Carnevale. After Carnevale said it looked fine, I began heading to the waiting room to check out when I overheard him tell the young doctor that he had accidentally left a fragment of nail behind in the first surgery, and had not taken it out during the weird manual "operation" he did. The last time I saw Carnevale was back in December. It is now the end of May, and the SAME TOE, the SAME SIDE is ONCE AGAIN oozing pus, and has a green tone underneath. I am furious that a podiatrist has this much inability to perform a SIMPLE and ROUTINE operation on an ingrown toenail. He has caused me so much unnecessary pain, anxiety, and effort. I would rather cut my own toe off then to return to this horrible podiatrist. Not only is he incapable of simple procedures, but he has a terrible bedside manner, shakes a lot, and made me feel very uncomfortable. If you care about your feet, do NOT go to this poor excuse for a podiatrist. I have heard from others who have gone there that they have endured troubles similar to mine.

In speaking with the doctor, she assured me this was way better than going the route of an orthopedic. Now I've had 30 orthopedic surgeries so I thought this would be a nice break from the pain and recovery. Well, I was wrong! My foot hurt so bad I was in tears. I've NEVER felt pain like that before not even from back surgeries, knee replacements, rotator cuff, you name it I've had it. It wasn't going away snd we are two months in. She told me initially 10-12 days I'd be back to normal! Well, a year later and my foot is deformed because she BARELY took anything off the bunion. Maybe the small head of it but she left the entire bunion in. It's clear. Then on top of that, the pain now radiates into my ligament. She forgets things she tells you as well! A lot of times the nurse summarizes what SHE feels important but sometimes other conversations are just as important.

Every week I went back so that they could change my soft cast, which was basically a glorified sticky ace bandage. My foot was consistently cold discolored and swollen for two straight months and she acted like it was no big deal. She also prescribed a bone stimulator machine that is supposed to heal a fracture 50% quicker. I am now four months in to this fracture, and it is only halfway healed. I went for a second opinion at nine weeks and he immediately sent me to physical therapy and got me out of the boot and off crutches immediately. The bone stimulator company charge my insurance $5000 I would say they paid only 2000 of it. The extra $300 was my balance. Such a waste! I would never recommend this place! Go elsewhere
