Fortunately, we'd walked past the Mexican Hat on the way, and decided to give it a go. What a great, welcoming staff and a very good chef. Our foursome ordered tacos al pastor, veggie tacos, and tacos alahombre. Each was served street-style, with great corn tortillas. Ordered beans and rice on the side..also excellent, along with the salsa bar! Atmosphere was perfect...earthy Mexican diner style and reasonable prices! We really enjoyed chatting with the staff. They are great people and need your patronage! Highly recommend. Go there!

We were greeted at the door by a friendly waitress and shown to a seat. We had just gotten our drinks when the singer started up and he was still playing after we'd eaten and were on our way home. The interior was beautiful and brightly painted with fantastic murals. We both had delicious food and are stuffed. My fajita was flavorful and served in a hot skillet. My husband had a burrito bowl that disappeared pretty quickly. The flight of salsas and chips introduced us to 3 delightful salsas.

For my meal, I opted for a "build your own" bowl, with brown rice, pinto beans, pork carnitas, guacamole and toppings/sauce. It looked beautiful, but the flavor was surprisingly lacking. Dining area was a good size and clean. Service was fine. Parking available on the premises. Conveniently located next to the Medicine Hat Tesla Supercharger. TLDR; service OK, bowl needs more flavor

Once you walk through the door, it's like you stepped into a restaurant in Mexico. There's sombreros and Mexican flags on the walls, bright paper banners hanging from the ceiling, and Mexican musicians playing in the wall-mounted TV. Right off the bat, I was served a complimentary basket of authentic taco chips and a variety salsas to snack on. The menu featured a lot of the dishes I've seen in Mexican restaurants in Puerto Vallarta, but I had a hankering for tacos. They also had tamales, which I'm fond of. I ended up ordering a tamale, a carne asada taco, and an el pastor taco. All were fresh and tasty, and very authentic, especially when I washed them down with a cold pineapple Jarritos soda. This was a nice way to get ready for my upcoming trip to Puerto Vallarta. I would definitely recommend this place, and will certainly go back the next time I'm in the Hat.
