Gorditas are small hand made from maza like a chunky tortillas. They are sliced in half and stuffed with fixins usually rice, beans and your choice of protein. If its your first time and you are ok with stewed pork, i suggest the Chile Verde(pork stewed in green sauce) & Chile Rojo(red sauce) gorditas. Thats my go-to order. They also have a Surf & Turf, Asada and skrimps which was also yummy. Place is tucked behind La Jara Brewery in front of the Lowes. Pro-Tip: You can buy your food and bring it to the brewery for a beer, they welcome outside food.

I eat at Nelly's, another mom and pop place in Norwalk, and they're very kind and always offer fresh chips and salsa and nothing is over $20. I think focusing more on perfecting their tamales, rather than offering a wide variety of menu items, would help them stand out. Their birria/barbacoa is so good, their tamales are hearty very flavorful that separates them from your other stamdard tamales found at northgate markets. My go-to is an order of Machaca(dried bee) with eggs and veggies, or Chilorio(dried pork meat) prepared the same way with Frijoles puercos(fried beans). I would also recommend you order some of their sweet bread. They sell homemade sweet empanadas, and their super soft less sweet "Pan de Mujer" which is good with coffee.
