Yaaaaassssss Tacos Rick-o! Thank you for my delicious birria tacos and fried plantains. Whew! As a huge fan of Hoppin', going there to try Tacos Rick-o was a very easy decision. I've been wanting to try birria tacos for months now and I genuinely enjoyed them. Customer service was spot on, everyone was very nice and helpful. It didn't take long for my food to come out, piping hot and delicious! Whatever combo you try was a win: tacos alone, tacos dipped in soup, just the soup alone, plantain dipped in soup....it goes on and on for a gal who likes dipping her food in yumminess. All of it was delectable and I will be back many times. Definitely a taco spot worth checking out!

Awesome food truck in the Hoppin' back patio. You have to enter hoppin in order to get to the food truck. It was packed because of the ncaa final four game. The food truck line was long but went by really quick. Once you order, they text you when the food is ready. Only took about 20 minutes which is fast for how many orders they were doing. There is a lot of seating in the patio to eat. I ordered the birria tacos. They were AMAZING!! They were the best birria tacos I've had so far. They were so flavorful and loaded with meat and cheese! You get 3 with a lot of consume to dip them in. I also got a side of plantains and they were really good. They come with a smoky sauce, which I didn't really like but I prefer plantains on their own. The fries were really good too! They were crispy. Overall, everything was amazing and I can't wait to come back and try the wings, quesadillas and bowls!

Their food truck was right at Carolina outlet mall. They have scan to menu. Their menu has lots of options. Got their veggie bowl and Street tacos. Veggie bowl was okay, would have liked some jalapeños and cheese in it. Street tacos were good but my fingers and lips turned yellow, possibly due to turmeric and food color. Overall food was good. 3.5/5 stars .

Solid selection to go along with your passion for craft brew The Tacos Rick-O food truck prompted us to stop by and check out Hoppin' for our evening. My bride ordered the Lime Chicken ($10) and said it was fine but didn't seem to have the lime flavor she was expecting. I ordered the Mexi Bowl ($10) and really enjoyed the combination! We also ordered the chips and salsa ($3) and thought they were definitely worth it. Smooth ordering and pick up process via texting...worked great.

Been hearing great things about this truck and finally got a chance to try. Several things on the menu looked appealing but I decided to go with the Birria tacos because I hadn't tried them yet. Person taking my order said that is one of their top sellers. There was no line and my wait was less than 10 minutes. I do wish this came with a side, but they are available to purchase in the side so I grabbed some French fries. The tacos were good, but with all the hype around this dish (not just at this business) I wanted more. The consume was super flavorful but the tacos seemed average. I definitely ate them, but next time I'll probably order something different. Staff was friendly, I'd return.

Birria tacos were pretty good. Their dipping sauce was not bad either. I was VERY stuffed after. Definitely worth a try.

This truck was hyped up by my cousin and I was a bit disappointed by what I ordered. I ordered 3 tacos (steak, pork, and beef) and with the exception of the pork it was all dry. I had to ask for a bit of chipotle sauce to help make it better. My cousin enjoyed her usual(birria tacos) and my other family members enjoyed the bowls. Pick wisely and hopefully your choices lead to better results if you decide to eat here. Oh it's parked by a wine/ale bar and helped to make the whole experience better.

So, again I so wanted to give them another try and did tonight. With a virtual Yelp event scheduled at 6:00 and thinking I'd love something to enjoy during our Zoom event I hit them up for some Queso and chips, and a side of rice (because that was almost the only thing I previously enjoyed) for dinner later. Unfortunately the chips were stale, the queso nothing to write home about and the rice undercooked. Sorry, but I will pass on this Food Truck moving forward.

Man oh man was this an amazing outing. I was craving these tacos and they never seem to disappoint. I would argue that this food truck, located inside of hoppin, has some of the best birria tacos in Charlotte. But it's not just the birria that's so delectable. You can NOT go wrong with their surf and turf tacos. Chefs kiss. With this food truck being located inside of a brewery it really helps with the foot traffic it gets as well as wait times to order. After entering hoppin I walked straight to the truck and was in line behind 4-5 people. I ordered the surf and turf tacos, an order of birria tacos, a chipotle chicken quesadilla, and chips and queso (not all for me). The wait time on the food was a little longer than I have had in the past, but man was it worth the wait. Every time I order from this food truck it leaves me wanting more, in a good way. The portions are large, the staff is personable, and the food is out of this world. 5/5 will absolutely be returning to this food truck!

If you are expecting service and value, you're going to be disappointed. Every Month, Trilogy schedules at least one food truck in for the members to enjoy. This month was Taco Rick-O and I was looking forward to it. Wish I had known it was the most disorganized, unprofessional food truck I have ever been to. Don't get me wrong. I love Food Trucks for their diversity and creativity and have review many of them over the years here on yelp. This one did not make the grade and I never got my order so I can not even comment or rate the quality of the Food. They set up and opened at 4:30 here at Trilogy in Denver NC. I went down to the Club at around 5:15 pm and got in line. Ordered the Shrimp Tacos (3/$12) and for my wife since she does not like Mexican the Fried Cheesecake Burrito which was either $5 or $5.50 per serving) Paid for the total and even left a 20% tip and the guy on the counter said it would be about 20 minutes. Went over to the Club Patio and found a seat and waited. 20 minutes became 30 min plus and finally I went over to the truck and waited. Not many orders were being called so eventually I walked up and asked, how much longer. He looked at the hanging tickets and said another 5 minutes. In other words, knowing how long it takes to make a Taco, they had not even started it yet. The 5 minutes is how long it takes to do the Fried Cheesecake Burrito. I told him to forget it. I'll take the hit for paying for something that I never got and I do regret it. I do regret leaving a tip for no service. Anyone considering Taco Rick-O, I would suggest you look elsewhere unless you have unlimited time to get you order. Service is not an item that comes with the menu.

Best Birria tacos in Charlotte!! Tacos Rick-O is so good and they are also really nice. We have had their quest fries, quesadillas, bowls and Birria tacos and ALL of it was a 10/10. It is awesome that they are located at Hoppin' because it is a fun place to hangout with friends and grab a drink while you enjoy your food.

Birria pizza, Queso Fries, Fried Plantains

The birria taco addiction is real, y'all. I've been on the hunt to find a declicious birria spot (as of right now, Tacos El Nevado are #1 on my list), however Tacos Rick-O did not disappoint! We ordered the birria pizza, the queso fries, fried plantains, and guava Juanitos. One thing to note about the birria pizza if you're sharing- it only comes with one consommé. If you don't like sharing, you can add an additional consommé for either $3.25 or $3.50 (I can't remember exactly how much it was now). The food took a hot minute to come out, however that's a small price to pay knowing that everything is being made fresh to order. The staff was friendly and ready to answer any questions that we had about the menu. Once the food came out, it was game on! The birria pizza was delicious- it was not too greasy and actually held its shape. Typically when I order tacos, I expect them to fall apart as soon as I pick them up. The flavor of the meat was delicious and the consommé was the perfect addition to compliment the pizza. It also came with a hot sauce which was wonderful because it didn't overwhelm the flavor of the birria- it added the perfect hint of spice. The fried plantains weren't my favorite, but they weren't bad either. I think I prefer eating savory plantains. They did come with a dipping sauce and grated cheese which helped- they did not go to waste! The queso fries were crispy and seasoned to perfection. There was enough cheese for all of the fries (which of course, is always the struggle). I would definitely get these again. Overall: I would come back here if I was in the area- it satisfies the birria itch for sure. It is conveniently located behind Hoppin' (which is another gem that I recently discovered), and it is nice that this is a permanent location. It is difficult to follow food trucks since they are frequently visiting new spots. Can't wait to try more items on the menu!

Overall, this met expectations for a food truck. The Papas Ricko looks great on the menu, but ended up being the seasoned fries with some semi-bland queso (there also wasn't enough for the amount of fries they give you) and ~$1 worth of other toppings. I think I would have been happier with just the fries & ketchup and saving $5.50. The mexi-rice in the bowls is really good (it reminds me of halal guys) and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the lime chicken just lacked flavor ... well, technically, it did taste like lime, but that was really it (chicken and rice with lime juice on top is a more accurate description of how this tastes). I was also disappointed by the amount and flavor of the pineapple (I love pineapple in dishes like this, so I got my hopes up and was disappointed).

I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

If you're looking for a spot with a high-energy vibe and a killer aesthetic, Superica in South End…read moredefinitely delivers. I visited with a friend on Cinco de Mayo, so as you can imagine, the scene was absolutely chaotic. The wait was a staggering hour and a half, but Superica handles crowds like a pro. They have an outdoor bar and a grill setup serving: * A limited taco menu * Chips and Queso This was a total game-changer. It's a genius move that keeps the "hangry" at bay while you soak up the South End atmosphere. Once we finally scored two seats at the bar, the service remained impressively steady despite the holiday madness. * The Vibe: 10/10. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely fits the trendy Charlotte mold. * The Food: To be honest, I wasn't blown away. Given the hype and the stunning decor, my expectations were sky-high. The flavors were "decent" and felt like a solid performance, but they didn't quite hit that "must-return" level of deliciousness. * Portion Sizes: Huge! I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. Here's the interesting part: The food actually tasted better the next day. It traveled well and the flavors seemed to settle in overnight. If you can't finish your plate, definitely take it home. Is it worth the South End gas and the hour-plus wait? For me, I'll probably stick to my "old faithful" spot up in the University area for my routine taco fix. However, I'm willing to give Superica the benefit of the doubt. It's hard for any kitchen to be at its absolute peak on Cinco de Mayo. If I find myself back in the neighborhood on a quieter Tuesday, I'd give it another shot just to see if the food can live up to that gorgeous interior.
