I happened to stumble upon it when down there for work one time and now I stop in every time I go to Angier. They make their own tortillas here and sell them as well as their own tortilla chips and freshly made salsas. The tamales here are the best I've ever had. I'm a huge fan of the pollo (chicken) ones which are made with a spicy verde sauce. They're sooo good. I also love their puerco (pork) tamales. I always grab a container or two of their salsas and some of their tortilla chips. The salsas go really well on top of the tamales too. I often buy extra tamales to freeze and eat later too. Don't miss out on this spot when in Angier.

My wife and I stopped by La Taqueria in Fuquay-Varina to try something new. The atmosphere…read moredefinitely gave off a very rundown, no-frills vibe--the kind of place that feels a bit worn around the edges. That said, the service was incredibly cordial and kind, which made the experience feel welcoming despite the dated surroundings. I ordered the carne asada burrito, and it was genuinely delicious. The meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked well, and while the burrito was kept simple--just meat, beans, and rice--it worked. Sometimes less is more, and in this case, it delivered. My wife tried a bean and cheese burrito and a pupusa. Unfortunately, both missed the mark. The bean and cheese burrito lacked flavor and tasted more like something you'd make quickly at home. The pupusa was even more disappointing--it didn't resemble a traditional one at all and had little of the soft, griddled texture or flavor you'd expect. All in all, I'd give this spot a solid 7/10. The burritos are the real stars here, and I'd gladly come back just to enjoy another carne asada one. If you're looking for top-tier pupusas or a polished dining experience, this probably isn't your place. But if you want a no-fuss, friendly spot with a great burrito, La Taqueria is worth a stop.

Authentic, has it's own flare per each region in Mexico gifts us with a splash of their own vibes for our tastebuds. My husband got sopes and a chicken quesadilla (no picture taken), but he devoured it! The agua frescas are homemade, organic from the flower bud! As your local Mexican foodie, always ask food establishments that sell juices/agua frescas if they are made from scratch / in house or if they use "polvo" (powder) or concentrated artificial liquid in the mix. For example, Horchata made from scratch (w/rice + milk+ water+sugar+ cinnamon) will taste extremely different than one made from a dry powder mix w/water (full of chemicals, preservatives, artificial ingredients). Overall, loved the experience and will return over and over again! Gracias mi gente for such beautiful service to our community!
